I still don’t agree with having another $6m on the fourth line. I understand the Okposo portion of it, but you can’t spend that much on the fourth. It needs to be filled out with Lazar and Asplund and we need better third lines and to round out the top six.

There is no logical explanation for having close to $12m on your fourth line.

I think the biggest issue is people look at all the advantages baseball has had from analytics and everyone wants to be the first team to really fine tune it in hockey. The issue is that the applicability in baseball and hockey are different levels of effective.

The only reason I compared the two is because someone mentioned his contract in the game thread and I thought it would be fun to compare the two and see why Marchand has the contract value that he does. I wouldn’t typically compare the two because as you said, they aren’t playing the same roles or games and are vastly different players.
