  7. That is also a stark contrast to some other country's approach such as deploying max age players just to load the roster to win. USAHockey seems to want to get as many prospects exposure to international competition with the hope that they cover the full development curves of as many of them as possible. Borgen in last years WJC and Fasching invited back to Worlds this spring as examples. Borgen was not a USNDP product which was surprising.
  8. After a summer with no definitive plans I took in the Dead and Co in Alpine Valley, Wi, Pitt, Fenway and last Saturday in San Francisco. Pearl Jam at Wrigley next.
  9. You are probably right. I hope Tyler is healthy enough to regain his touch.
  10. I think Hudler would be a nice add at the right price. Savvy scorer, makes our top 9 more flexible. But at the right price.
  11. I learned something today. It is now complete :worthy: Or rather \m/
  12. Meh, time to take the training wheels off. We have enough seasoning even among the younger guys like ROR, Kulikov, BOGO, Ennis etc. We need to give the young guys TOI to further develop. Add a contributor on d or a scoring option up front, but any addition has to be for more than veteran leadership.
  13. Cmon that was funny...these are slow days.
  14. Don't get distracted Ducky and keep posting in the Rod and Gun Club thread. But I think the trade discussion comes down to a wash. The Jets got what they wanted and at a minimum we got Jack. Kane is no choir boy, but he is not an ax murderer either. Bogo is in our top 4 so we're good. We gave up alot but Jack seems to be worth it.
  15. I don't get the "he didn't try" thing. I think he did the best he could under Rigas and Golisano. Different operating environments.
  16. Also agree. That is why I am tempering my playoff hopes. There still may be a few transformative moves to be made.
  17. That is noble but probably a fruitless errand. Some will value individual pieces differently. One may like player x and not y. Thus an argument that he overpaid for y but got a deal on x naturally ensues. Until this group meets or exceeds expectations we will not be able to determine if he was wise or foolish. I am hopeful. But we are now a cap team and will not have the discretion we had in the past. So the die is cast. His real work begins now. I also think there will be moves that will come that will rock this board. After all he is ZFG.
  18. I look at what we got for the futures we traded away and am not that impressed. Those 1sts, even the late ones, were the key to making sure the tank was worth it. There would be no consternation over Vesey, if Boeser, White and Roslovic were in the fold. I am not a Lehner fan and think he is a placeholder for Peterson. Thus giving away a first for that was a high price. Adding the first in the Kane trade was an overpay imho. The comment about coveting is where I stand. The trade for ROR was genius. I don't think he overpaid because he knew the biggest part of the deal was the Sabres ability and willingness to sign him to the deal they did. Not many partners. I think the overhaul has been generally good, but we are still a fringe playoff team with holes on d and in net. We won't be drafting in the top 5 or 10 likely anytime soon as we are no longer doormats. So this is where we wait and see if the near ready assets develop and take us over the top. I applaud his aggressive approach. I give him a B+ to date. I look at some of the other teams core, i.e. Jets, Flames, Oilers, TB and wonder if we got as much out of our rebuild to put us clearly out in front. Time will tell, but it will be more enjoyable to watch as early as this season.
  19. A big if. All plaintiffs look great in the office but most lose their luster on the stand. You are correct that a sympathetic plaintiff is a great starting point. However, if she was banged up, shaken up due to being "thrown around" by millionaire DB hockey player, said DB hockey player would be facing felony not misdemeanor charges. We have come full circle. ;)
  20. To the point where he built a bar in his basement so the team could have a place to party after games without running into John Q. A waiver and NDA was required for all guests of players. Attended twice. Helluva set up, but really strange vibe.
  21. Ah the punitives....was betting I would hear that.lol. Without aggravating circumstances punitive damages are a longshot. Thus the importance of criminal charges. They are also used when no criminal option to deter behavior is available (think Ford Pinto case). The standard for proving damages is harder than most think and the ability of defense attorneys is being sold short and the generosity of juries is being overestimated. Well other than those in certain counties in Texas. :P Not a personal retort, rather a professional observation.
  22. Civil cases are predicated on compensation for damages. It will be a huge hurdle to establish physical damage or emtional harm for actions that amount to ordinace violations. Can it be done? Anythings possible. The plaintiff must also show a causation nexus between the conduct and the damages. Big lift for plaintiff's counsel. Will Kane's rep take a hit,? Not anymore than it has. But I can't see a significant financial award stemming from this.
  23. There is a false equivalency here. Assume ROR owned a home and didnt shovel the sidewalk after a snowstorm. If someone slips and falls he could be liable for civil damages. He would not face criminal charges unless it rose.to the level of criminal negligence. E Kane may be exposed yo the possibility of civil damages, but absent the gravitas of criminal charges, the jury would have to reach to support a finding of significant damages. So a misdemeanor and ordinance violations are not the same thing as felony assault charges. I think JJs point that he was charged with lesser offenses in light of the availability of more evidence including both video and witness testimony indicates the truth lies somewhere in between the alleged conduct in the complaint and total exoneration. The authorities have already, weighed in.
  24. Nurse. Look at the photo. The sailor is kissing a nurse. Kids these days. ;)
