  1. I have a feeling this thread is going the way of the politics thread. Sure, level headed discussion now until the inevitable Prince vs Hendrix showdown. I'm out.
  2. Not very impressed. Dresses nice, but nothing of substance that gives me anything otberbthan the feeling he impressed TPegs in the same way Russ Brandon did. The "i don't care if your useless you present well and won't make a scene at the Country Club bar" way.
  3. What's that?
  4. I have the same background and focus on value and production.
  5. Now that is a fishing hat!
  6. Edge pressure and blade angulation. Forward your blade is slightly toed out and you drive pressure against the blade in the opposite direction to that in which you want to go. Backwards your toe is slightly pointing inward and you drive your leg forward to push back against the edge. Crossovers are merely direction changes using your edges to maintain momentum and control.
  7. Interesting read. I challenge 2 points. An owner is not the same as a gm. If the owner doesn't know the difference between a TE and an end table, delegating tactical execution to a gm is imperative for sustained production. Coaches responsibilities are limited to short term goals. If there is no accountability between long term and short term you create an inherent conflict of interest. Second hockey is much different from football in that pure talent is much more a deciding factor than scheme and execution. The game is more fluid. While a terrible scheme can hamstring good talent, bad talent cannot be schemed to overcome better players all playing to their strengths. I think Bylsma was a hinderance, but we are not yet at the stage where we have superior talent in enough quantity to challenge for the ultimate prize. We have good pieces but need more and also need to dump the underachieving contracts and playing time sewers that keep from adding better players into the lineup. I feel that TM was adding the pieces but Bylsma was hindering their effectiveness. We are close, that is why I am loathe to shakeup the roster for a short term fix when that would simply shift the talent gap from one area to another. I hope whoever gets the gm role is cagey enough to not mortgage the future for a short term fix unless that delivers the ultimate goal immediately. A championship not just a ticket for admission to the tournament. Jmho
  8. Probably not, but doing so might take the edge off, you have been awfully grumpy lately
  9. He needs dance partners. I don't think they are there. He'll move down.
  10. It's beautiful. Roll out the fatheads.
  11. Yeah and Arthur Andersen was duped by Enron. Play on Grasshopper.
  12. He saved all 30 franchises. Rogers loses money and defaults on the deal all the clubs lose. Az FLa Carolina all depend on the shared tv revenue. That goes away and the peg, Ottawa and maybe even Edmonton without McDavid are in trouble.
  13. TM: 9 mm in severance dollar drafts and .25$ wings...is this a great country or what? DW: wait 9mm? I got these crappy sunglasses and a gift certificate to Veins, Veins Veins!
  14. Two former gms walk into a bar...
  15. But they also need to stock a farm and need as many tickets in the raffle even if they only win the the consolation prizes. Get to pick early for the next few years and dropping 2 spots isn’t going to matter much. They need everything.
  16. 18mm for guy who can't throw over the middle and I'm the idiot?
  17. That was a quote from the article.
  18. You are looking at it from the wrong perspective. US markets don't matter. Rogers paid a ton of money to essentially own hockey in Canada. That tv contract requires subscribers and advertisers for Rogers to make money. With McDavid in Edmonton and oh look Matthews in TO, the league saved Rogers arse. Throw in Laine and there is enough star power to make the cable package worth it north of the border. Crosby and The Hawks drive the meter here in the States but are controlled primarily by regional cable networks like Root, MSG and CSN. McDvid went exactly where the league needed him to make the contract work.
  19. Bravo. Excellent analysis.
  20. It couldn't hurt. But I dont see a huge trade to accomplish it. Maybe a UFA or a minor deal, but I can't see a Fowler or Hanifin type deal. Again, jmho.
  21. Antipin and Guhle are going to be on the big club. Bogo is probably here too. Gorges has another year left and we have Falk and Austin under contract. The key is too not over cook Risto. The other is to let Bogo, Risto, McCabe and probably Antipin support the rush. Gorges is serviceable bottom pair d at 12 to 14 minutes a game. I wouldn't count on a blockbuster top pair d coming in a trade. It would cost too much and be a short term fix. Jmho
