  1. Well they did the Canadian swing right off the bat last year. Maybe its our version of the circus trip. Oops sorry brawndo
  2. I'll take that bet.
  3. Well he gave away the farm for the status quo and traded for Eberle. The guy must be manic at tbe moment.
  4. ending in Fla again...huh.
  5. I keep thinking there is a method to his madness but I can't seem to see the method.
  6. Eberle for Strome done per TSN.
  7. I think that is why Murray brought in Royce. But he did keep Devine on so he must have contributed positively somehow.
  8. As a wing he finishes at about the same rate and doesn't take possession away nearly as much nor is he as physical. I think Carrier is faster. Larrson does play center and kills penalties which is a plus but I never even thought about plugging him in on the wing with Jack or Sam. he fails the eye test to me i that role where I thought Carrier was perfect, provided there was another finisher on the line.
  9. Blue summed up my opinion a few posts earlier. Carrier is more versatile and can compliment more player's styles. I don't think he is a HOFer but we don't need an all star at every position just pieces that create synergy where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Now on to the draft.
  10. no lose either way.
  11. If I am correct as to my evaluation it might have been a 5th rounder or someone to in the AHL like Austin. If TW is correct they would have been able to flip Foligno or Larrson much easier and may not have needed a sweetener at all.
  12. If I was McPhee I would want a shot at either Makar or Neskinen. Paired with Theodore down the road and you are building a nice blue line. They could sit pat and pick up a good F and Valimaki and Branstrom if they so choose. Nice position to be in.
  13. Neidermayer 2.0
  14. My intel, from employees of the Pens, is that Botterill was not the guy unearthing the gems. Rather, Rutherford and his predecessor and would say "we need a d man to do x." Botterill would role out the the excel spreadsheet and say these are the guys we can afford and could be had due to cap issues with other teams. He isn't the natural scout that Murray is. They also said that once prospects were drafted he was instrumental in following their progress and making sure they got what they needed to develop and have the best chance to succeed. All laud his organizational skills and methodical approach to problem solving. The one nugget that stuck with me was how Rutherford preferred to have a very hands on approach in the amateur and pro scouting acquisition decisions. I view the transactions as more administrative, the Carrier +6th rounder as an administrative decision and not a good choice based on our team's desire to play a new style. I would have exposed Foligno or Larrson and sweetened with the draft pick if Ulmark is truly that special which I have not yet concluded he is. PS. Not saying Botteril is worse than Murray or vice versa. Just different strengths. I would have liked a different approach but we move on to the next order of business.
  15. Bailey has hands of stone and may never be anything other than an AHL player. Baptiste is a finisher. True's point is that if you stop thinking in terms of line equivalents then a possession player on the wing with Eichel and say Nylander is a better fit than a line where everyone wants the puck and doesn't know what to do without it. I agree. Chicago did that to a tee and Sheary and Guentzel are ofnthe same ilk. Without top creators like Crosby and Malkin I doubt wenwould even know who they were.
  16. To be fair many have suggested that Jack needs a pure finisher who can keep up. Tippett would be that at the least.
  17. i definitely disagree. Foligno would have been the logical choice. And if it is so hard to move contracts explain CBJ. They were able to move dead weight. Foligno is gonna want a raise he doesn't remotely, deserve and has stone hands to go with the cement between his ears. He doesn't fit up tempo anything.
  18. Carrier was not the player to expose. Foligno, Larrson maybe. Ennis sux. Protecting Ulmark at the expense of Carrier was not good evaluation. Sign Nilson and draft your future. I was not high on Bobblehead from what I was told by people in the Pens organization....great admin not a great eye for talent. I would have used this opportunity to try and shed a contract and that, at the moment doesn't seem to be the case.
  19. Wasn't high on gm Bobblehead to begin with. This confirms my intel. In pgh he had little input into talent eval. Just how much they could afford.
  20. And people here in Chicago are teary eyed until they realize they are getting out of cap hell and then they are giddy. Fecking Hawks!
  21. my bad cited a terrible source. 5.275 Mill through 2021.
  22. no arrests yet.
  23. Theodore was pick #53. Here's an idea, keep 8, keep Kane and draft a Theodore with our second 2nd round pick.
