  1. It also is a matter of the construction of the team the pick is going to. SJ was a cup favorite year after year with Marleu Thornton et al, so if you are management an need to plug in someone to fill in on the bottom 2 lines it is cheaper to use someone on their ELC. If they are not a liability it should enhance their development as well. It is similar in all leagues with caps. Getting lower price contracts into the lineup earlier makes economic sense and frees up resources to compete for free agents to plug holes or put you over the top.
  2. Tank? We don't need no stinking tank!
  3. Nuevirth looks like he is seeing the puck well. He has been a pleasant surprise and gives me comfort in GMTM who thought enough to acquire him. :worthy:
  4. Yeah with their google and facebook...f#$k them!
  5. Nice play by Risto to control the puck on the delay. I like the way he sees the ice.
  6. City of good neighbors. Call a neighbor, use facebook. Call in a favor. I'm from that area, they take care of their own. Good luck and God's speed. Another thought. I was a volunteer fireman. On nights like this a crew would usually man the house and the rookies like me would have to dig out the hydrants. You might want to see if anyone is manning the house. Again good luck!
  7. Who do we have in the Q to go for the sweep?
  8. Seems like another very likeable kid. I am glad to see he is making the most of his opportunities. Hoping he gets a shot at making the the Team USA WJC roster.
  9. I am not a Nolan fan but I do acknowledge that he is a great motivator. What I don't get is what the OP means by "this"? The talent to the naked eye coming into camp wasn't playoff caliber. That it has underachieved is somewhat irrelevant. The year is about buying time for the prospects on the farm to bake while developing those on the roster. If we get a surprise turnaround from Stewart, Hodson or Stafford, bonus. The kids are doing well. Neuvirth has been a pleasant surprise. Moulson and Ennis will continue towards their mean. We will get a few like last night and a few more like against the Pens. The ufa's will be moved at the deadline or before and the last vestiges of the DR era will be cut away. That is what is necessary in a rebuild. That we may be in a position to acquire a generational talent is a bonus.
  10. What do you mean by help now? the trades most likely won't begin until teams either suffer injuries or begin to feel like they are making a playoff charge. Barring divine intervention we will be mathematically eliminated by xmas. The teams who make trades, seldom if ever take someone off the roster who is a contributor or part of their future for a rental, thus you end up with picks or prospects who are currently not as good as the asset going out but has upside down the road to be as good or better. The only thing the trades if any will tell us is who is in the plans for the future and who is not.
  11. Its his cilice made out of skate laces and broken blades.
  12. Leinos problems went well beyond his hips. I had a full replacement in September and played my first game of the season Thursday. I'm a hell of a lot older and ride a desk all day. Not saying it is the same thing, but if the staff thinks the prognosis is good, I would take the chance. Jmho
  13. This is where your medical staff can help you. I would still make a deal for him if the staff thinks he can recover fully. His price just dropped a bit.
  14. Post of the month material right there! I will be taking notes.
  15. If something is worth doing, it is worth doing right. They are doing it right.
  16. No its not. We have 3 maybe 4 players ready to come up. We may get lucky and McEichel is immediately ready. 2015 is a weak ufa class, but a trade is not an impossibility. 2016 is a great ufa class and if the cap stagnates it could be awesome. We will be better next year, the year after that and the year after that. The melodramatic reaction to bottoming out is getting old. This has been the plan and by all accounts we are on track. We will be better. We will be bigger. We will have top level talent used to winning and success. You have toexcise the tumor before you begin healing.
  17. Why does TN get a pass? He knew the roster before he signed on. He also knew the job was not to contend, but to build an identity and to teach the younger players how to assimilate into that environment. If the plan isn't working it is as much Ted's fault as anyone's. Girgs has bought in and the young d are playing hard. Gorges is a pro's pro and Gionta is playing along, though not at a level below historical average. Weber and Strachan give effort, and dare I say Stafford looks like he is trying to turn it around. The talent level blows. But what isn't fathomable is how these players can't know where they are supposed to be. That's the coach. Period.
  18. I liked the play last night where during one of the all too common offensive flurries by the Wild, Zad didn't get the puck out and instead of trying to stick check the interceptor (cough Myers) he put his shoulder into to Wild player and knocked him off stride. It disrupted their flow and led to a clear. If that is your first instinct, fine by me.
  19. He is young and will make mistakes from inexperience. He also is a bit overzealous at times rushing the puck. But the loafing that was an issue in Traverse seems to have been addressed. Risto and Zad were highpoints of the game last night.
  20. With very few exceptions and notably those with the least chance of landing either, McEichel would be the top center in their organization from day one. I can live with either.
  21. And our top two d are both 19 yo
  22. Jack Eichel Septic Cleaning Connor McDavid Dewey Cheatham and Howe Don't get me wrong I would be thrilled if the Sabres drafted either of these guys.
  23. They are wearing those hideous blue pants so i vote they crap them. As a form of protest.
  24. Great point.
  25. I find it interesting that you referenced Kathryn Tappin by leading with a reference to hard on. Just sayin
