I actually saw that at Leisure Rinks during the 1975 Finals. The Sabres were doing an optional skate and Gilbert was going out to skate and had a butt dangling from his lip. He took a half lap tossed the butt next to the bench and grabbed a puck and took a shot on net. It was like Slapshot. I started smoking that afternoon. :(

Reinhart: Fewer minutes in NHL or more minutes in AHL?

He will get stronger in the offseason as his body matures. He is not a physical player and never will be. I agree he is best served in Buffalo. -
No thanks

Look at the toi Risto is eating. It looks like he is shaking off the rust. Come on Bogo get healthy. Oh and Pysyk can flat out play.

H did, and he made other smart plays. He will get stronger, but sending him to the A will not help his development. He is seeing the game at an NHL pace.

Or maybe the Captain called a meeting to say:" Guys I have been in the press box the last two games. Interesting vantage point. I saw two things we can correct immediately 1) Keep it simple. don't worry about where you are supposed to be, take care of the job in front of you; and 2) shoot the puck on net. Rebounds are as good as passes."

Kane's mantra has been the team needs to be harder on the puck. He embodies that. Surround him with others of the same mindset, (Girgs is my preference) and he will not feel or see the need to try and do it himself. then I think you will see him be more deferential to his linemates. Now he sees a need to be pressuring the puck and he does it. Hopefully it is contagious.

12 months from now will be two games into the 2016-17 season. 18 Months from now will be early March of the 2016-17 season. We are talking one season. I predict we will see progress this year. i also predict that some of the pieces will have been evaluated and determined not be part of the future. Gionta and Weber will be off the books by the end of that year. Franzen as well. Moulson will have 2 more years and will be staring down the barrel of a buyout. The end of 2016_17 will have been 21/2 seasons under Murray. Nobody will be running him out of town. Ticket sales are up, there will be no rush to change course.

I don't think anyone will want to run him out of town in 12-18 months unless they are delusional in regards to thinking that he is concerned with a quick fix. Fans thinking that he is setting his sights on a short term solution haven't been paying attention to what he has been saying. His approach is to get better everyday, but he is a firm believer in building through the draft. FA's will be used to get a playoff team over the top. We might be a playoff team next year but not a cup contender. I do not expect any knee jerk attempts to address the defense unless a top tier player becomes available ala Leddy or Boychuk. We drafted Guhle, have McCabe in the system as well as Florentino down the road. Will likely be looking at a D this in the draft as there are a number of good ones in the top ten. I did not like the Lehner trade or the ROR trade, but I do like the Kane deal and Deslauriers has been a pleasant surprise. I have high hopes for Fasching, Baptiste and Bailey and think Ulmark is the goalie of the future. But I do not see that happening this year and am ok with it.

Friedman reported on NHL network: When you are drowning other gms dont throw you a life preserver they throw you an anchor. Murray does not like what is being offered and is likely to let Ulmark get a game or two in Rochester and call him up to the big club.
