Before he was injured he was on pace for 20 40 60 on the worst non expansion team in modern history. All at 20yo. All at center. I thought his trajectory/ performance was exceeding expectations.

Apparently DB and Girgs had a heart to heart. Bylsma has said expect to see primary pairs, I.e. Eichel/Kane and ROR/Ennis. But Girgs has no pair, no defined role. I think he is a hell of lot more valuable long term than Ennis. I also think he will be the better player. So what becomes of Zemgus? I am curious to hear others thoughts. Perhaps I am overvaluing him and he is fodder for GMTM to move. After all he isn't one of Murray's guys.

As an aside, was it hot in the building last night? I saw multiple player visors fogging up and the puck took some strange hops and stops.

We may be in the sweepstakes anyway by the mere fact that we have a young inexperienced team with a goaltending hole.

There is a major change between last year's lottery and this years as you know. The point is finishing DFL doesn't guarantee you #2 anymore. Thus the payoff is less. I am not arguing what we did wasn't successful, it was. But trying to replicate that is less certain. Thus it is more logical to ice a better team for other reasons, i.e. fan support, player development, because you can't guaranty finishing low get's the top pick.

I fish with flies and it is not easy around here to fish the harbors with guys using conventional tackle.

Have you got any rain? Wis and MICH tribs are really low. The fish are stacking up in the mouths of harbors and are getting crushed by trollers.

Yes he has. But he will be in a tough spot if the team gels with the exception of goal tending. Also, I think some of his comments reflect that the market was not favorable in his opinion, and he could seek an internal solution. If the internal solution is holding back the team, he will be forced to at least consider an external solution. The market changes quickly after the new year, and I think he will prudently evaluate the situation at that time.

Especially that type of injury. Do not want another Montador Seau situation.

I don't necessarily disagree, but I think he gets a look if for no other reason than determine if they want to make a deal sooner rather than later for a goalie.

More teams are evenly matched which will limit offensive oportunities for both teams. Icing a hollow shell like we did last year is no longer smart, as the payoff odds.have decreased. Less disparity in talent will lead to tighter games and less scoring overall.

I think there is a bit more parity this year, and no obvious reason to tank.

I think we see Linus in a few weeks. Ocho didn't cost us this game but like you said he didn't steal one either. The team speed is impressive. They need to learn how to play in control at that speed. Lots to like early on and DB seems to have everyone rowing in the same direction.

My overall observation is that they are still anxious in the o zone. The instinct is to bang the puck somewhere as opposed to taking an extra second to look for a better scoring chance. We gave it up too easily at times. I think by Christmas they find the comfort level. They have the wheels to play with anyone.
