Not necessarily. Bennet had a great playoff run. But he was largely one dimensional, though very good offensively. Samson will be a more complete player, though he will have to adjust to the physicality of playing on the wing if he ends up there. Board play is more physical.

McDavid will blow by more people than you think. He is every bit the skater as Jack and better in some.areas.

Had the lotto balls dropped differently we would be saying novenas at the cathedral of Connor. We are lucky that a talent like Jack was available at 2. But I think it is foolish to compare the two. McDavid is the real deal. They are different players in different situations. I am just happy that brighter days are ahead and hopefully we never have to travel that path again.

The AHLers has me perplexed. He has improved significantly every year and I expect that to continue but buried with the players he has been is a bit strange.

I get the feeling Gus isn't part of the bigger picture. It almost seems like he is being punished in the preseason judging by his practice linemates. I hope that I am wrong but I can't shake the feeling.

An overlooked side effect of the last two seasons was the ability to purge contracts that weren't in the LT best interest of the team. They didn't get into ego battles they just wiped the slate clean. Stafford, to a lesser extent Myers, Miller et al gone. They were able to then shop with a clean credit card and terms they ciuld manage. I think they will be fun to watch this year as they evolve and establish their identity. But I think we are only glimpsing a fraction of the master plan. I think even next year will see major changes. And a few fan faves will be moved. This is almost like watching an expansion team that knows what it is doing. I'm stoked.

Perreault had a wider base which gave him the freakish lateral movement. He looked almost bowl legged. Jack is more narrow which allows him to be more upright. Both have/had incredibly powerful as strides. Jack's first two steps remind me of Mario more than anyone else. Mario never looked like he was moving and then he was gone. Both upright with the head on a swivel. Either way, he is fun to watch.

I know they want him on the wing but Samson is an intuitive natural center. He is so positionally sound.
