If that's an actual quote from RK then he needs to go. You don't wait 20 games to start trying to win in regulation. You get buffers now. You force each game into OT that you can't win.

So then let's use the word elite. It's not just hockey lexicon. It's all of sports. Words have meanings and those can change, but generational is not elite. It transcends eliteness. In 20 years there will be only one generational quarterback in the NFL from 2000-2020: Brady. Rodgers and Brees and all the other statistical heavyweights will be shown as a product of the era. They're going to be just-a-guys in hindsight.

And I say we've got to stop listening to scouting reports who proclaim there are 2 or 3 players with generational skills each season while hunting for clicks. Generations (like in real world -- there's another thread that got off topic with this) are defined later after looking at the body of work. Dahlin is too young to determine yet. Eichel is no McDavid who's got the best chance at it.

Can we stop using the word generational in general? Like, there can be only one generational player in a generation (every 10 or so years). It's like the highlander, there can be only one. Everyone else is just a really good or great or average player.

He's got a no-movement clause but I'm wondering how soon he waives it. The tricky thing is... a veteran at the deadline is a 2nd. A sign-and-trade/re-sign with the new team could warrant a conditional 1st. But Hall could just go UFA. He's a solid player, good distributor. I've liked his defensive effort in the first few series. But he's falling into our general malaise.

We've played 9 games and our goal differential on the season is even (coming into the game). Our plus/minus includes -7 (Reinhart, Dahlin), -5 (Miller, Montour), and -4 (Eichel, Hall, Olofsson). The top players have been horrid 5 on 5. Today, it's also spreading to the bottom lines.
