  1. Can we just roll Skinner-Eichel-Reinhart and take our chances for a little while?
  2. 10 minutes is a long time to sit without a shot face. Skinner!
  3. NHL.tv does carry the ESPN+ live... at least for now.
  4. Channeling my inner Oklahoma!: "I'm just a Sith who can't say ... noooooooooooo"
  5. Packers game got... flexed... which sounds dirtier than it is. So Florida, here I come! Hopping in my Lambda class shuttle now.
  6. I'm liking his speed. I look forward to seeing him given a couple more weeks to gel with a line at this level now that Sobotka is on LTIR. He's had Thompson and Okposo and Gilmour as wingers thus far. Whomever he lines up with, I want that to follow RK's "keep 'em united" mentality give his line a chance. I like the concept of Olofsson-Asplund-Mitts. The kid gloves mitts line that will get sheltered minutes (which should have been together in Rochester all last season). Going back and reading this: are we sure Asplund isn't a bad penny? Everyone gets hurt or waived on his line! Or... is he secretly making room for someone new?
  7. He's young. He will learn patience. Wait, we're talking about Rasmus the Younger, right? Not Rasmus the Third or Rasmus the Elder? ? Staying on target: Botterill does need to get a top six forward this year. I wouldn't bank on getting two players, that's difficult to do when you're trying to protect/accumulate draft picks to build through the draft. I do appreciate the long-term approach of Botterill is gathering the d-men now. They take longer to develop and there will be attrition amongst their ranks. Forwards are much easier to plug and play at younger ages. The previous two GMs got Risto and Zadorov and Pysyk and McNabb and then proceeded to rush them to the NHL or trade them. All of the moves were justifiable independently by their current GM (and in some cases it meant getting an established 1st/2nd D back), but it also meant that the pipeline of D talent was lacking 1st and 2nd rounders with the highest odds of making it. I always want the next top-4 D waiting in the wings and pushing for a spot.... Which leads us back to.... if you have an excess top-4 pushing for a spot but blocked by established players: trade someone. (either established or the up-and-comer). It's OK to take action JBott. You can use the Moulson for knowledge and defense, and also you can use it for attack. Because we've achieved balance with our Moulson.
  8. He's passed through the planetary shield and is landing at the data vault at Scarif Rochester now. He'll commence operations soon. Gilmour is a borderline NHL D; each team has them. It's good for the Amerks although he may be a little redundant with both Pilut and Redmond fully healthy again. Alas -- we're all fine here now. Up in Buffalo, we still have 8 NHL-caliber D and someone needs to move for an impactful forward. But that's a story for another thread at another time.
  9. So maybe it wasn't Babcock... but instead Datsyuk and Lidstrom and Zetterberg and Franzen and Holmstrom.... and also Giguere and Kariya and Oates and Vishnevski and Rucchin and Sykora... and... Byslma? This is a surprise, but a welcome one. Now, if only Keefe can somehow mess this up to our advantage.
  10. Yes, Jack, let the hate flow through you! (but... also... you can stop and set up the PP too) You know. Let your hate give you focus.
  11. About damn time. edit: ... that some at least showed some fire about this Alderaan of a month.
  12. @Thorny was seduced by the dark side of the Moulson Well then you really are lost!
  13. I was as smug as I've been since I was able to appropriately use "Three marks at 210" and it being an accurate statement in a GDT. Sometimes I amaze even myself.
  14. The voice is in my head now. What will happen if we watch the Sabres game tonight? We don't know. Maaayybe something bad; maaaaybe something good. I guess we'll never know (until puck drop).
  15. Hehe --- Han, Han, Tomato, Tomato. What'll be sad is if the thread is 10 at the start of the game, and 12 at the conclusion.
  16. But we're gonna have a 10-page GDT before the game starts... that's nice.
  17. The Sabres went the route of Mama Compensation... said, "Oops, the wind..." and then did get the claw end of the hammer. I like it. Unless it's soccer...
  18. I'll translate: "Suffering" leads to losing. Losing leads to higher draft picks. Higher picks lead to reliance on higher picks without a full roster to support. An incomplete roster leads to… suffering. All that said, let's go win a game tonight! Let's go Buffalo!
  19. Good point. Who do we need to nullify on the Wild? I have no knowledge of them this season --- do they have a go-to line? An up-and-comer to keep watch on?
  20. I need Mitts to do something tonight on the scoresheet. His line was producing (when Sheary was in the lineup) at the start of the season, and they've disappeared all of November. Just like the power play. One thing I learned about Tanks courtesy of Quake II. They're really slow. Sure, they can hurt you if they catch in a corner or unaware. But if you plan for them... they're sooo slow. How long have we been doing this rebuild madness? We've seen Disney buy Lucasfilm, create a new trilogy, two standalones, a full animated series, another in progress, and a live show already in action. Even Ewan McGregor is getting close to original Alec Guinness age. All since we last made the playoffs.
  21. Ooof. This is rough. And CJ Smith and Wilson are already hurt for Rochester. And Elie. I’d say something about a bacta tank, but at this point we need an Olympic size bacta pool.
  22. Sometimes you send a hologram message and no one ever watches it. While it would be nice to get a top-line winger, if I'm another GM I'm starting my response asking for a #1 pick, a Joker or a Cozens, etc. At this point, our Risto train has probably passed the station (until the trade deadline... when we're getting rentals anyway). I think we've got to go Skinner-Jack and let Reino take line 2 with MoJo once he's again healthy. Bogo's tenacity is something this lineup needs, but he's been a defenseman all his life. He could be a good power forward, but I just don't see him making this switch at this age coming off an injury. He's no Dandenault as a 7th D. But yes --- it'd be fun to see Bogo go hunting on the forecheck. And having him and his reach and straight line speed... and willingness to boggle people... It would open up space for Asplund and player X. Maybe for a couple games?
  23. Alright --- time to go Skinner - Eichel - Reino for the third and make a push.
