  1. Our powerplay just isn't the same when it isn't playing the Devils.
  2. Like you say, I'm good if Staal is teaching Cozens on the day-to-day what he needs to do to have a career like Staal has. But I need to see Cozens get some center playing time soon, before we move Staal at the deadline (if we can get a 2nd for the rental)
  3. Krueger doesn't know that timeouts exist until your goalie is pulled at the end of the third. Nothing about trying to stop damage.
  4. PP expired, but that's a PP goal. I give Hall the pass on that one. He skated a full shift before Dahlin had the horrendous turnover to Barzal. And then Barzal took over, so Hall was out another, what, 30 seconds in a scrambly defense mode. Then tried to go for a breakaway and had no jets left. The optics of the trip look bad, but he was cooked. Here we go now? Here we go now?
  5. Dang. Hall was gassed even when Barzal came onto the ice and dominated our zone, let alone getting a breakaway opportunity.
  6. True. I'm just trying to project out another 100 games (this season/next) with Eichel and RaKru, vs. Barzal and Trotz. By the time Barzal is where Eichel is now in age/games played, he'll be better. Now... we fix the coach/effort issues... Eichel has the potential to be better.
  7. From yesterday's thread @PASabreFan said If his shot comes through, maybe young Woolley as well. A long-time 5/6 PP potential guy. Or a Krug, based on height. That'd be nice.
  8. Now, like yesterday, we have to be ready to escalate when the Islanders begin the ground assault and target the shield generator.
  9. I certainly hope he's injured and this isn't future Eichel. And... we could get that #1 for Hall, but we'd probably just flip it for our next Montour like we did with the #1 for Kane.
  10. Interesting development,,, Mitts on PK#2 with Lazar
  11. Hmmm. Just after saying Mitts has done well in his own zone. Mitts -- you've got to race back on that, don't look for the trailing D just yet. That's on Skinner and Lazar. And also on replay, Ooof Miller. Made it worse.
  12. This season, it's no comparison. Career --- yeah, he would appear to be the more complete player than Eichel. He's about 100 GP fewer than Eichel, but is on track to have more points by the time he gets to Eichel's current GP.
  13. He's got the effort in his own zone today. Battled against the Isle's 4th line... twisted someone awkwardly into the boards too, probably our hardest check of the period.
  14. Great pass, Eichel! Nice spot of vision.
  15. Well, based on that goal yesterday and that when gets the puck he makes things happen for the Isles... rightfully so. We don't have anyone playing like that this season. Maybe if Reino were to do another backhand catch/flip just under the bar.
  16. His contract should immediately have allowed him to go to Rochester (who picks that up on waivers?) and get back to where he was last season -- playing well at the AHL-level so he could hone his game with top line minutes. Instead, as you say, he got pre-season UBI Eichel and new-to-team Hall and a mess. And now, how is he hoping to develop with no game play? Happy birthday!
  17. All days are lasagna days in our heart. It's an NBC broadcast it all, so all the USA markets can soak in our Sabres hockey greatness and witness our extreme motivation and cohesive defensive system. NBC staffers should be telling the refs "we neeeeed viewers and goals.... call 50 penalties today."
  18. I'll try spinning between the legs with 1.4 seconds remaining in OT, that's a good trick.
  19. Go grab some super-early groceries for tonight's lasagna, grind up some coffee, and it'll practically be time for a hockey. Ooooh, it's national media day! They'll be politer than the Rangers post-game guy, but what they don't say will speak volumes. And of course, hopefully they aren't just laughing outright.
  20. It's not impossible. I used to bulls-eye womp rats from between my legs with 1.4 seconds remaining in OT at a target not any bigger than two meters.
  21. They won't need to because they'll be able to rest in the second. You've got to give the fans what they want. I had to look back --- Gm2 at Buffalo we needed the fans happy. And in Gm6 Philly fans needed the release of those boos.
  22. They're excellent. But Trotz has them play defense and counter and they completely took their foot off the gas in the third once they instantly got the goal back to make it 5-2. Other more offensive-minded teams are going to run-and-gun and get their points stats. Ovie is going to be psyched to go for hat tricks against Hutton/JJ.
  23. And this was against a fellow stifling/low-event team. Can you imagine what we'll look like when we face teams that are now in midseason form and want to try and score? The Pens, the Caps, Boston... those teams are going to pulverize us. Pulverize?!
  24. We had the opportunity coming out of COVID break. Beat the median/bottom teams: NYI, PHI, NYR, NJ to get back right in the 5th-6th range. Because maybe, just maybe then you end up having one of those flukey seasons where you just plain own Boston and/or Pitt -- you know, like how Detroit owned ... was it Montreal? last season or something. We did not do that. I feel so... helpless.
  25. I've gotten nostalgia for casseroles at times... If I make them like my mom made them, with the ingredients available at the time --- yeah. No good. But if you make a casserole with some really good ingredients and really good recipe? That casserole can be delicious. I guess it's like a franchise. I made a tuna casserole with fresh mushrooms, homemade roux/cream, top-shelf oil can tuna. Delicious. But as a kid we got cream of mushroom condensed, bottom-shelf Bumblebee in water... it was tasty, but... not good.
