  1. The Economist is a good source, and I never claimed you were anti-vax. I don't believe I even implied you were vaccine-hesitant, though I may not see how my own words seem rather than the way they were intended. That said, I used "your news exposure" for the very reason that I *don't* know what it is. Imagine if I, knowing you're a conservative, had thrown out Fox News by name, or further right wing sources like Breitbart or ONN? I'm trying to play it neutral.
  2. Initial trials started over a year ago, not 6 months. The vaccines have been proven to be safe and effective in the short term, and are on track for full approval faster than any prior vaccine. We have millions of points of data for them, as well. More than any vaccine has ever had prior to approval. And while the two mRNA vaccines are the first ever of their kind to be given authorization, they are not the first ever to be tested. The tech has been built on for years, and prior mRNA vaccines have been trialed over the past few years. We have more understanding of them than your news exposure wants you to believe, because we have to make everything political in this country these days.
  3. My roommate's mom is left wing and has been eligible for a long time due to age and health issues, but is surprisingly anti-vax. The only argument I have ever gotten into with her was over vaccines. Fortunately, I found out yesterday that she's agreed to get the J&J shot today.
  4. Depends on the situation, I guess. My roommate is a teacher and has like 10 weeks off for summer. And I'm always first out the door and last back, despite living 3 minutes away from work, so she also works fewer hours each week. And then there's several vacation weeks each year, including "February vacation".
  5. The J&J vaccine is made from a cell line that was from an 18-week old aborted fetus...from 1985. Embryonic cells are used to mass produce the engineered virus the J&J vaccine uses, and then filtered out of the final product. No new fetal tissue is needed. Babies aren't dying for this vaccine, nor is there any fetal tissue in the product.

  7. Oh yes, ranting against a dictatorship is definitely something liberals disagree with.
  8. Tell me a single issue, just one baby, that Oliver has championed that is a centrist or conservative viewpoint.
  9. Defending riots? Yes, that's hard left.
  10. As someone who is center-left, I will absolutely say that yes, Oliver is definitely left.
  11. The point is the type of person that needs to see the message is the exact type of person who wouldn't listen to Oliver in the first place, so it's literally preaching to the choir.
  12. Haven't watched the video, but I bet most people who don't want to get the vaccine are unlikely to listen to a hard left comedian like Oliver.
  13. I'm slightly jealous of everyone who had little to no side effects, but I'm also thrilled to be vaccinated.
  14. I wish you and your mother the absolute best and will keep you both in my prayers. I went through the same surprise stage 4 diagnosis with my mom in 2019, so I understand how hard it can be.
  15. I think you're right and I do think we trade up for it.
  16. Any ideas why Ojulari is being passed on by multiple teams, not just Buffalo? I thought he was the top edge prospect of the draft.
  17. I agree, I just don't think we really know how good or bad they are. If we took Etienne at 30, I wouldn't say I'm thrilled, but I can see it. RB is one of those spots where you can get an immediate impact from a rookie. I would, however, be upset if we traded up for a RB.
  18. Hard to have a good running back when you have some of the worst run blocking in the league. Singletary had 2.88 rushing yards after contact, which was 3rd best in the league. He also had 1.52 yards before contact, 5th worst in the league. Moss was 13th best and 8th worst in those same metrics. Tell me you can look at those numbers and think it's not a run blocking problem.
  19. I went looking for a GDT of this game, but I can't seem to find it. I did find this by @LabattBlue: https://www.sabrespace.com/community/topic/2886-stanley-cup-playoffs-begin/?do=findComment&comment=21496 "- Folks will still be talking about that Campbell hit 20 years from now." It looks like we were using IRC to chat during the games at that point. And since I used to log everything, and I'm a digital hoarder, I still have it. Here are some quotes from that game: "<ChileanSeaBass> you don't like to see anyone get killed like that, but that was a pretty hit" "<Alaska_Darin> Nothing wrong with that hit. Nothing wrong with the Flyers being pissed, either." "<NavyBillsFan> We are comin live from the Philly medical room.... Mr. Umberger, how do you feel after that crushing hit? Who Dat... Who Dare?????" "<Alaska_Darin> They got the best performance he's ever given and they still got beat - and they got the wind taken out of their sales when Umberger decided he was going to spend the rest of the evening breathing through his mouth." "<PromoTheRobot> Umberger ...that's right...he's done for the series <PromoTheRobot> concussion for sure!" [note: If I remember right, Umberger only missed 1 game]
  20. Got my second Pfizer does on Thursday. Yesterday was unpleasant. Made it about 3.5 hours at work before giving up. Had chills, aches, lightheadedness, fatigue, intermittent nausea, and a fever that was sitting at 102.4 when I went to sleep last night. Woke up this morning feeling totally fine except for soreness at the injection site, and my temp is down to 99.4. Glad that's over.
  21. That isn't the least bit contradictory. You can respect someone for what they do and still sports-hate their guts.
  22. I'm with WC on this. I think he was trying to be as neutral as possible to not upset anyone. I could be wrong, but that's how I read it.
  23. Yeah, it's literally impossible with any of the vaccines out there.
  24. Yeah, I'm in NH and became eligible on the 31st and got my shot the next day, with my second dose currently scheduled for 3 weeks later.
  25. Pfizer buddies! *6 ft fist bump* 😛
