I ran in a 5K today. I'm slow and kinda hate running.

I'm really interested in how the defensive line does. Last season, Ben was sacked on 2.09% of dropbacks. That's the lowest any active QB has had in any season of their career. Much of that is because Ben was throwing quick, short passes, but that's still impressive. Edit: Dropkick? Dropbacks. Thanks, phone. Heh.

I remember reading an article from The Athletic where they predicted Hollister would be cut until they could place people on IR with a handshake deal that they'll re-sign him (he doesn't have to pass waivers and can immediately sign).
-
Might want to look at the title of this thread.
-
That's more than a step back. 45 to 32? Nah.
-
The defense was a big weakness last year. I think it's going to be quite improved this year, but I also expect the offense to take a step back.
-
That was a solid first drive and absolutely gorgeous pass to Davis.

Everyone had the same conditions last year. Where was Lamar?
-
36 passing TDs. 7 rushing TDs. 3,127 passing yards. 4,333 combined passing+rushing yards. 1 4th quarter comeback. 2 game-winning drives. 37 passing TDs. 8 rushing TDs. 4,544 passing yards. 4,965 combined passing+rushing yards. 2 4th quarter comebacks. 3 game-winning drives. If Lamar had a God mode year, what did Allen have? Oh, one more 2019 Lamar vs 2020 Allen stat. Playoff wins? Lamar 0, Allen 2.

I'm not so sure.
-
I guess I hallucinated his wild card game last year.

You either don't follow football or don't have the same definition of contender as the vast majority of sports fans.

You've posted this in the wrong thread. https://www.sabrespace.com/community/topic/27730-covid-19-discussion/

That's a lot more effort to look up, so I'll just do last year's playoff teams. Brees missed 4 games to injury. Trubisky lost his job to Foles due to sucking, but got it back in week 10 after Foles got hurt. On Washington, Haskins got benched for Allen, who later got benched for Smith, who later got benched for Haskins. All in all, it's still an easy trade, and I bet Beane makes it 100 times out of 100.

Hundreds of thousands fewer, no doubt. The number I saw was 540-660, so I chose the middle, since it was a nice round number.
-
Let's see. 14 playoff teams. Looking at the bottom 14 picks of the first round of every draft since 2010, we see the following Pro Bowlers: 2010: 4/14 2011: 4/14 2012: 5/14 2013: 7/14 2014: 4/14 2015: 1/14 2016: 2/14 2017: 4/14 2018: 3/14 2019: 1/14 2020: 1/14 2019 and 2020 players haven't had much chance to make the Pro Bowl. For the other 9 seasons, we have 34/126, or 27%. Our own Bills are 1/2 in that time (Shaq Lawson, Tre White). I was already on board with trading, but this even further cements my decision.

Regarding the discussion of COVID-19 death count: Regardless of whether it was over or undercounted, there were an estimated 600,000 excess deaths. Maybe they're directly due to COVID-19. Maybe they're people who had other problems and COVID-19 pushed it over the edge. Maybe they're people who were too afraid to go to the hospital during a pandemic and something that was treatable if caught early never got caught. Whatever the case may be, the effect is clear and serious. ~600,000 more Americans died than expected.
-
The answer to both is an easy yes.
-
I'd be happy keeping him around if he's fine being relegated to backup on a *fingers crossed* perennial contender. He presumably has his eyes set on being a starter somewhere.
-
If this is the window to win it all, then why even bother signing Allen? Just use up the rest of his rookie contract and shrug, "Welp, our window is done. Oh well."
-
I don't care about seeding. Never really have. Get to the playoffs. Then win.
-
It's a win/win situation. Either they have him as a dependable backup this year or they get a first out of him. I'd take the first, pretty much without hesitation, but I am not, nor will I ever be a GM. I think our defense is going to be significantly improved this year, and we have one of the best receiver corps in the league, so I think we can muddle by 4 games fine with a backup, assuming those 4 games aren't in the playoffs.
-
Is there anyone that wouldn't trade Trubisky for a first, if an offer like that popped up? Mitch isn't looking for a backup spot, so it's not like he'd stick around after this season anyway.

Unlike most people I know who won't get the vaccine, you sound like you are taking pretty much every cautious step you can. I appreciate that.
