Right I wasn’t disputing that they didn’t get Denault, I was just noting it was half accurate and they’ve added other pieces that likely take them out of the conversation.

But they have indeed added Daddy-O (not sure where that nickname came from but I’m riding with it) along with Martinez, a backup goalie and a couple other smaller contracts.

Vegas signed a few deals today eating up all their cap space so I’m skeptical of their involvement. I think we’re all underestimating the possibility of Jack getting this surgery which could take him out for much of the season and then he just sits the whole thing out and then you’re staring a NMC in the face with a player who has legitimately a quarter of the value he should. And we can all act like a team can just refuse a trade in that scenario but it’d be so bad for the franchise to not deal him. This needs to happen (and there’s still plenty of time for it to happen).

That’s correct. He chose to sign a contract. Other players will realize it’s a bad idea to sign a contract with the Buffalo Sabres.

It also places him 37th all-time in points for any player (29th in assists) as well as 26th in games played.

Your original proposal also mentioned a conditional second that becomes a first if they win the cup so I guess that's more likely a second than a first but that's an asset you're missing here in your mentioned proposal. It was that pick that I said made the deal too much. But I also don't believe that any team will let you tell them their two first rounders is worth another team's one first rounder unless it's something like Vegas versus Arizona/Columbus or the like. Vegas would tell you to get lost if you tried telling them two of their firsts are worse less or the same as one from Minnesota.
