  1. Obama pondered an executive order to block public funding of sports stadiums. He should’ve put pen to paper.
  2. This isn’t generally the kind of stuff we pass around here without concrete evidence.
  3. Tweet has been deleted (probably because of the typos)
  4. Yea the OP news came out a few months ago and was a major talk around town
  5. The Couture contract is bad even with retention. Based on his production the last two years he’s already slipping and you’ll be paying him until he’s 38. He’s the exact type of player Adams has spent all offseason saying they won’t acquire. Not to mention there’s no chance San Jose traded their firsts in these two massive drafts considering a first they gave up recently ended up being third overall. The most likely route with San Jose is Eklund, a first in one of the next two drafts and then them flipping Meier to a third team to grab another asset or two to send to us.
  6. The 2nd rounder wouldn’t be my sweetener. Looking at how pathetic their prospect pool is I wonder if we could send them one or two of our prospects we feel are stuck behind other players? One of the LHD makes a lot of sense since they didn’t seem to have many defensive prospects. Olofsson is all our favorite throw-in and I like him better than most but he might make sense for them.
  7. I feel the same about that. If Philly ends up sucking and the team we deal Eichel to ends up being good it’s borderline eliminates the value of including the 1st.
  8. I’m not giving a team our 2023 2nd in landing their first because if that team ends up being good one of main pieces ends up just being a very small move up the draft board. I’d be willing to do an asset in there but not the 2023 2nd.
  9. I would take either deal in a heartbeat though I imagine the Sharks are going to be very protective of their firsts the next few years considering the situation with the Karlsson trade. I don’t know that I ever need more than the three assets mentioned in either trade. They’ve reportedly been shopping Timo Meier. I don’t want him to bog down value of the more important pieces but I’d be interested in bringing him in to either flip or keep.
  10. That'd be the second straight time a team decided to give Jack number 9 instead of retiring it in Evander's honor. Well played.
  11. I think Jeff is content playing for the second-closest team to home (Toronto being first) and just making bank while not having an ounce of pressure to perform.
  12. This reminded me of the numerous battles I had with Siri trying to get "Evander" to stop autocorrecting to "Evandro." Something I had forgotten about until this very moment.
  13. They are most certainly not. They may come from the same line of thinking but they do not mesh with each other if your belief is truly that people should not be judged for unproven accusations. I'm not saying you're wrong in either case nor do I want you to feel I'm targeting you for it. I'm just noting if we shouldn't rush to judgement on Evander for these accusations I also believe we should not rush to judgement on his wife, either.
  14. In one an accusation is being made about a person without presented evidence. In the other, a person who is being accused without presented evidence is being defended.
  15. These two posts run counter to each other.
  16. Can you provide me with a list of things you have positive thoughts about so I know to only engage you on those subjects?
  17. These were being discussed elsewhere but figured we should put them in a more appropriate place.
  18. You can't let other teams dictate a massive surgery decision like this for your star player. Their option doesn't matter. If they want a say in his surgery they can trade for him.
  19. Yea you’re generally not going to see a fanbase universally love a guy that’s making $2.5M a year.
  20. The NHL closed the waiving of NTC/NMC loophole so the clauses stay in place when they arrive to their new team. @Doohickie
  21. Just did a quick search of his name on Twitter and it’s the same as when Boston decided not to extend him a QO: Bruins fans are mad. Some loved him.
  22. I had not considered this possibility but boy would that be a wrench thrown in.
  23. There were a lot of teams that wanted him after what he added to Boston last year. This is a good pickup for them.
  24. The comparables are all over the place because Heiskanen got less than what Nurse is apparently getting and he’s probably between those two. He projects to be better than both if he reaches even 90% of his ceiling. If this comes in at 8x$8.5M I’d probably be fine and I do want to lock him in long-term. I think it’d be worth the extra $ for the morale boost. But I have also been wrong on a handful of things recently - including Skinner’s extension.
