A late first isn't the equivalent of Theodore. Values of picks change almost immediately after their first camp with a team (see Hudson Fasching - a fourth traded for McNabb and two seconds the year he was drafted). Foligno has little value. Franson has little value. Larsson has little value. It's scraps from a bad team for a good prospect on a good team who has tough cap management coming for their back end.

Woah woah woah, no. Larsson, Foligno and Franson isn't even enough for Theodore.

After looking at that site I think it's a terrible source of imformation. Seems like the "writers" have watched a handful of NBC games and then just compare players to the few they remember. Branch out a little bit. Hell, I compared Zadorov to "a smooth skating John Scott" in his draft year. Clearly I wasn't a fan but that's probably going to end up as being as accurate as comparing the number 22 pick to Datsyuk.

Crusader can you please start linking this stuff? I'd like to have a look at most of the stuff you post but you never link it. Those comparable have to be style of play as opposed to projection.

The very next time anybody asks anybody on the team about it they simply answer "Yzerman informed the team he will not be traded." I don't think the media is as much of a distraction to actual teams when the players within the room know what's being reported is false.
-
I feel like just telling the team that would be plenty, though.

Interesting... Chris Peters: Noticed today that the leading scorer in the NHL, AHL, ECHL, NCAA, OHL, QMJHL and (obviously) USHL is an American. ????????????????

TSN's trade deadline preview/breakdown for each team: http://www.tsn.ca/talent/mondaymustread-a-look-at-every-team-s-needs-wants-and-wishes-1.438334 Not a ton of good details. Says of the Sabres that Ennis and McGinn are drawing interest. Could deal Franson, Legwand and Johnson. Suggests Scott Hartnell back to Nashville could be a fit. Hamhuis may fit with Washington. Vancouver is trying to trade Burrows. Florida is targeting Ladd.

Yzerman for Stamkos (e69).
-
The only reason I can find to release a statement is to make Stamkos happy. Seems a little bit desperate. Just my opinion.
-
Regardless I feel like needing to release a statement isn't a good aesthetic for their relationship.
-
I'm sure they've got a rule that you miss the game if you miss practice. Maybe if he was Russian he would've made it to practice on time.
-
The Lightning released a statement saying they will not trade Stamkos by the deadline.
-
Per Bylsma, Evander overslept and missed practice. He was suspended one game by the team... He was in Toronto for the All-Star game last night.

Currently debating this on Twitter. McNab isn't listed as a rookie that season by multiple sites I've found. He played 22 games in 73/74, but the CURRENT rookie definition says you can't play in 25 games. My guess is the definition was different then. Either way it doesn't make it any less impressive.

Wherever this team ends up it's already an immense improvement. Something I hope the players aren't satisfied with but understand the importance of. In 57 games they've matched the point total from two seasons ago. One more win or two OT points and they match last year's, likely in at least 20 fewer games. They're on pace for 75 points - a 21 point improvement over last season and 23 point improvement over the season before that. Ryan O'Reilly is on pace for 70 points which hasn't happened for Buffalo four years. Sam Reinhart and Jack Eichel are two rookies on pace for 24 goals each. The last time the team had TWO rookies over 20 goals? NEVER. Risto is on pace for 47 points. The last time they happened for a dman was Tyler Myers in 09-10.
-
My guess is he just didn't want to talk about it and kinda fumbled the answer. I also kind of think tampering with unsigned college kids happens alllllll the time. Get him in a room with GMTM at the end of the season.
-
In a semi-strange but probably innocent moment Hudson Fasching, when asked about the next step as his rights are owned by the Sabres, said he hasn't given it much thought and says he's talked to other teams. Says "they're around." A little after 5:50 in this video: http://btn.com/video/620597315819/ For those who aren't aware he would need to play one more full season at Minnesota to become a college hockey free agent.

Great episode but come the on with making it out alive.

Disagree. Corporations don't have a heart. ;)
-
Job elimination/replacement regulations as opposed to keeping wages low to appease the filthy rich corporations.
-
So put regulations on the businesses and not the people. I don't think we should scramble for legislation because "oh no, the businesses are doing that thing again!"
-
I still hold that they're the best wings in Buffalo.
-
Major corporations using technology to replace humans has absolutely nothing to do with wages and is more related to their greed and desire to maximize the bottom line. I don't think decisions on support for the general population should ever be made based on the action of major corporations. They're the problem, not a part of the solution. Until that changes they can go themselves. Small businesses will take hits but over time will adjust. There should absolutely be tax breaks and other measures to offset the initial hit they will take.

I'm going to guess McDavid has never played in a game that featured a shootout.
