  1. This is the first time I've ever walked in on someone cheating on me. I'm hurt.
  2. I've been noticing a lot of your posts have been pasted lately. Are you cheating on us by posting content elsewhere first then pasting it here?
  3. The guidelines were never meant to be a comparison... Especially considering comparing an entire career to, as Liger pointed out, the reality that a 19-game comparison would be most fair. It was meant to show what our newest asset could be.
  4. This team isn't loaded with prospects anymore. The extra picks will hopefully be used in trades, but I we have a full draft each year over the next two to stock up. Looking at third rounds from 2005-2009 for skaters who have played 100 games or goalies who have played 50: 2009: Tyson Barrie, Brayden McNabb, Reilly Smith, Andrej Nestrasil, Kevin Connauton, Nic Deslauriers, Cody Eakin. 2008: Jori Lehtera, Mike Stone, Michael Hutchinson, Lance Bouma, Adam Henrique, Zack Smith. 2007: Drayson Bowman, Yannick Weber, Alex Killorn, Robert Bortuzzo, Joakim Andersson, Corey Tropp (Players in this round who DIDN'T play ANY NHL games but were worth the pick: Tyson Sexsmith and Luca Cunti). 2006: Brian Strait, Ryan White, Eric Gryba, Steve Mason, Brad Marchand, Cal Clutterbuck, Theo Peckham, Tom Sestito. 2005: Kris Letang, Kris Russell, Jonathan Quick, Cody Franson, Rich Clune, Ben Bishop, Mark Fraser, TJ Hensick. There are a few active players approaching the number who could've been included with an asterisk but they'll get there. That's 35 players out of 150 picks or 23%. Just short of 1 of 4. We've got four thirds. If we use them all then odds say we'll get a player who plays at least 100 NHL games. And it's a conditional third anyways. Could end up as a second. The second round in that span: 2009: Ryan O'Reilly, Carl Klingberg, Kyle Clifford, Alex Chiasson, Jakob Silfverberg, Anton Lander, Robin Lehner, Richard Panik, Dmitri Orlov, Eric Gelinas, Brandon Pirri, Tomas Tatar. 2008: Jacob Markstrom, Slava Voynov, Jake Allen, Roman Josi, Patrick Wiercioch, Justin Schultz, Zac Dalpe, Derek Stepan, Travis Hamonic, Marco Scandella, Jimmy Hayes. 2007: Eric Tangradi, PK Subban, Dana Tyrell, Nick Spaling, TJ Galiardi, Wayne Simmonds. 2006: Michal Neuvirth, Jamie McGinn, Cory Emmerton, Nikolai Kulemin, Jeff Petry, Jhonas Enroth, Shawn Matthias, Milan Lucic, Artem Anisimov, Mike Weber, Jesse Joensuu, Jamie McBain. 2005: James Neal, Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Ondrej Pavelec, Justin Abdelkader, Taylor Chorney, Paul Stastny, Mike Blunden, Guillaume Latendresse, Mason Raymond, Adam McQuiad, Marc-Andre Cliche. 52 of 150 picks. Just over 33%. And more quality than above. I think these numbers are right at what I expected, but they're higher than some of the posts lamenting this pick seem to indicate.
  5. Oh lord, that was totally unexpected! I've been meaning to share my experience on here and will do so by the end of the night. You're a good man Webster (I hope we can at least agree on that!). ... Actually I feel like we've been agreeing on a lot lately.
  6. Yes. Sixth best offensive tackle (including left and right tackles) in the entire league according to Pro Football Focus.
  7. Agree on Bryce Paup (the first Bills player I met and first jersey I owned - hand me down). When the camp was at Fredonia I got detached from my family when the players were doing autographs and Paup picked me up and yelled "anybody missing a kid?" I hardly remember it but my brother remembers it vividly because I was his responsibility and mother wasn't the slightest bit amused. Washington was a hungry dude. I'm close between him and Mario (on the field it's Washington but the timing and cost of the Mario signing meant a ton I think). Restructure or release McKelvin and DO NOT pursue Cromartie (Gilmore, Darby and Robey are a very good top three). Lock up Glenn, Incognito and Gilmore.
  8. These were two smart moves by the team. The Mario signing is still one of the best the team has ever made despite this necessary moves.
  9. I think this point was missed a bit. I also believe that he tried. I believe McGinn knows this may be his only shot at getting one of the 30 teams to give him a stupid contract.
  10. I'm certainly one of the targets of this (and I suspect Swamo's video), but I've had one post. It was long but it was even-keeled and fair, I thought. It wasn't over the top... I presented my thoughts and moved on.
  11. That's a good, tough question. He probably deserves more respect than he gets after being in San Jose so long. I haven't put any real thought into it, though, so I'm not sure Malkin or Thornton are in my top four for the ten years. Maybe I'll give it a thought in the morning.
  12. I'm sure the Leafs can do that. I don't think it would take much acrobatics for us to do the same.
  13. Here ya go: https://twitter.com/BuffaloSabres/status/704466705481912320 Also: Joe Thornton has 60 points in 62 games.
  14. We mostly certainly can touch their offer, as can a few other teams. Whether we should or will is another question. I also don't think Stamkos is going to the market looking for the most money.
  15. I agree. This team is in phenomenal shape going forward. 21 draft picks in the next two seasons. Ryan O'Reilly, Jack Eichel, Evander Kane, Rasmus Ristolainen and Sam Reinhart solidified as legitimate top-end pieces (whether it's for a good team or not is, admittedly, to be seen). Lehner, Ennis, Girgensons, Bailey, Baptiste, Fasching, Pysyk, McCabe and Bogosian all with potential to have good roles that should be determined within the next two or three years (many sooner). The calls for GMTM's head if the team isn't a playoff team next year is a tad confusing. He has pulled off some great moves. The argument for grabbing the pitchforks so soon after having two of the worst teams in NHL history is because we acquired so much talent so quickly that you can't compare this team to the teams of the last two seasons. That's a CREDIT to GMTM. If the team underachieves it's likely due to growing pains and, possibly, bad coaching. GMTM gets a full two seasons after this season from me. If there's marked improvement in that span then he gets until this team hits a wall or suddenly slumps badly. This offseason will be a great chance to see GMTM flex some muscle. There will be plenty of free agent opportunities to sway wanted players (Stamkos, Okposo, Yandle for starters). And he's got just as much ammo as anybody else in a similar position throughout the league.
  16. Three years ago the Rangers traded their captain and went to the finals.
  17. I believe this is correct per a report from earlier today. This AHL rule is stupid, though. It should just be that you have to have at least one game played by this date in the AHL to qualify.
  18. It's a second if the Ducks reach the conference finals
  19. McKenzie: Conditional 3rd from ANA for McGinn. Could become 2nd.
  20. LeBrun: Believe the return to Buffalo for McGinn is a conditional pick
  21. Per Friedman on air LeBrun; Believe the return to Buffalo for McGinn is a conditional pick McKenzie: Conditional 3rd from ANA for McGinn. Could become 2nd. LeBrun: becomes a second if Anaheim reaches the conference finals.
  22. Maybe the current lottery just prevented teams from putting guys on the market. They knew they wouldn't get firsts for their guys so they kept them.
