Pronman says this kid has the highest upside of any player taken outside the first round. You can find two twitter accounts for this kid (one that he hasn’t tweeted from since 2015) and every single tweet is about hockey or god. This kid absolutely adores the game of hockey. He’s going to work his ass off. I’ll definitely remember this pick and keep an eye on him over time.

Pronman seems to have favorable reviews of a lot of what Buffalo does as far as prospects acquired in the draft and trades goes. I appreciate it considering how brutally negative it is rooting for this team. Also, that’s HIGH praise for Huglan.

He notes that multiple picks were overages (one is a double-overager)... meaning this isn't their first year entering the NHL draft. Maybe Botts likes that these guys are further along? Maybe he's afraid he needs to get guys on the ice ASAP to show his worth?

He's definitely aged out as a "prospect" but I'd say there's still a small chance he becomes a contributor at the NHL level. If he were still a "prospect" he'd be somewhere outside the top 10 in the system.

Sure. The first is the focus. And it's not good on its own, so I'd rather not add anything else to go with it. If it was the trade deadline and we're sitting firmly in a playoff spot I absolutely trade my first for Miller.

I agree with everything you just said, but in my view that doesn't translate to "trade a first, a third and a prospect for JT Miller." I hope to god the pick isn't high but there's a chance it is. If I'm trading firsts before a season starts I am doing it for a player that will help guarantee the pick isn't high.

I hope our GM doesn’t think of puck value like this. You shouldn’t have to pay a price like that for Miller. I agree very often with the “trade late firsts pick for value now” train when possible but there’s a chance that pick isn’t a late first. I don’t think he’s a second line center on a good team.
