  1. Damn...haven't been able to watch but it seems the Sabres carried play outshooting them 14-4 despite going down 2-0 before tying it up.
  2. Just looking at the top 10 goalscorers from last year this seems flawed. 2 players had their best season at age 30 or 31, 2 at age 27, 3 or 4 at age 25 and the only one at age 20 or 21 was Ovechkin.
  3. I can't really buy into this... basically it says a player peaks at scoring at age 20, declines til age 35 but then somehow starts going back up at age 36 until age 40?
  4. I suspect if you showed the G/60 scored it would peak maybe 2 years further to the right as players learn to "do more with less" as they gain experience from playing. Just my guess, would be interesting to see if I am right or not. Goals are what count, not xG. I don't care if a player has 10 xG and only scores 1 actual goal versus a player that has 7 xG but scores 3 actual goals. I'm taking the actual goal scorer 10 times out of 10, which is why without an overlay showing actual goals this is pretty meaningless.
  5. I give him a ton of credit for his taste in women tho. A+ grade there.
  6. There is an argument that players develop better in the NHL than the AHL.
  7. The big difference? Krebs is a very young player with massive upside. Sheahan is a replacement level vet. No team in their right mind would play Sheahan over Krebs if they have decided to go with youth. Damn...Sheahan might not be much of a hockey player but he is winning when it comes to waking up in the morning next to someone.
  8. So what are the Sabres supposed to do? Keep him on the active roster even tho he isn't good enough to be up here so as not to get a "bad rep"? I doubt he is making an NHL roster, there is a reason why he was available in the first place.
  9. They were badly out shot in the game. It's just frustrating a team that was 12!! points worse than us last year suddenly is now some world beater and we are still going through ups and downs.
  10. This team was 12!!! Points worse than the Sabres last year. Now significantly better than us. Getting really frustrating to keep playing the waiting game with the Sabres. When will this team actually turn the corner? How many 1st round draft picks do we need to add?
  11. Let me get this straight. The Devil's went from 12 points worse than the Sabres last year to one of the best teams in the NHL overnight and the Sabres are still trying to figure it out after 12 years. Am I missing something?
  12. The Sabres didn't exist in either of those years.
  13. Except if Brett Hull did it in the Finals...then it would have counted.
  14. When you are giving up 34 shots in under 2 periods you deserve to have 3 goals against no matter how easy the saves should have been.
  15. I heard on WGR it is a special start time of 8pm.
  16. See my thread about analytics and studies showing the AHL is terrible at developing players and that players develop much better in the NHL. The AHL probably shouldn't be used to develop anyone in reality anymore. Just a place where players have to wait until they have a spot open up.
  17. Imagine if Quinn lives up to his PNHLe projections of 90+ points... Dobber Prospects called him one of the most improved NHL prospects last season, and also have him at not only a 95% certainty to become an NHLer, their PNHLe scoring model has him projecting eventually at a 90+ point per season level.
  18. Yeah I guess when you put it that way you are right. With Allen you knew he had the talent to be amazing...even as a rookie he would do jaw dropping stuff a few times a game, he just wasn't consistent in his mechanics and still had a lot to learn. Thompson looked like he was out there clueless as to what he should be doing.
  19. And that the NHL is much better at doing so. Which makes some sense as you are seeing exactly what you need to work on in your game on a near every night basis. Wonder if this played into the thought process of keeping both JJP and Quinn up here out of training camp even tho neither looked great. Granato said something to the effect of "We think they can develop here and don't think it will take too long for them to work on what we need them to. Otherwise we likely would send them down." Sabres seem to be big on analytics, perhaps this is something they are aware of? https://infernalaccess.substack.com/p/the-ahl-is-a-bad-league-for-developing
  20. Thompson is so good sometimes it is amazing to think this is the same player. Literally is like the Sabres version of Josh Allen with the Bills with a meteoric rise from nothing to star seemingly overnight. The speed, quickness, accuracy and release on his shot might be one of the best I have ever seen. Dude rifles the puck and it looks like his stick doesn't even hardly move. It's almost like you have to watch the slow mo replay to see him shoot because the puck is off his stick so quickly. I don't even know how that is really possible. Like the shot below(which is in slow motion) https://mobile.twitter.com/TheChargingBUF/status/1576279966970695681
  21. You mean a modern day Hecht with 40 goal potential?
  22. No, just try and not lose multiple defensemen at the same time and they will be OK I think
  23. Hahahaha, I like that even better! Going to send teams shopping for another goalie.
  24. Quinn follows up yesterday's amazing game with another one but with goals added... Plus a post/crossbar and another point blank chance that just went over the net. That PCQ line is going to be amazing by the second half of the year.
