Brandon Montour?

I dunno...there is tons of data from advanced metrics that show the Sabres are notably worse when he is on the ice versus when he isn't...Schopp on WGR brings this up a lot and I looked to verify and its true... The issue is since he is never hurt we don't have any sample size to see what happens when he is out of the lineup for an extended period of time versus when he isn't. At least this would show if the problem is him playing against the top guys on the other team so much or if its something other than that.

100 Real Life Things that could be Matt Ellis

Grape Nuts....I loved that cereal as a kid but i was never willing to get up 30 minutes early just to eat it because it took you that much longer to chew it than any other cereal... -
Jeff Skinner leaves the game with nasty-looking ankle injury
matter2003 replied to Hoss's topic in The Aud Club
Yeah whatever it is its really bad...he was grabbing at it as soon as he hit the ice and then did the "scoot like an injured animal" on the ground...afraid it might be an ACL with how his skate stuck in the ice and his body twisted when he went down... Doubt we see him anymore this year...hopefully it isn't the last time we see him in a Sabres uniform... -
I've never quite understood this. What is the huge deal with acquiring "rental players" at the deadline? If you have a good team why isnt it simply enough to play with the team you have been winning with throughout the season already? How often do these rental players actually work out and is the cost of acquiring them even worth it?? I'm willing to bet the analytics on this is favors it being in the "not worth it" category if anyone has ever done the research. It looks good on paper to add a better player or an upgrade but I'm willing to bet the cost-reward ratio is skewed heavily in the cost's favor. Also willing to bet if a team ends up winning a cup with no real deadline moves other GMs will start taking notice.

Maybe...or maybe Calgary has so many good players in front of him he can't get enough ice time unlike here?

The expectations they should be better than dudes drafted 15 to 20 places lower then them...this isn't the NFL...it's a little easier to tell who will be really good in the NHL
-
Not really...look at Barzal with the Islanders...dude had 85 points his first year after 1 year in the minors
-
Why does it seem the players the Sabres draft never live up to expectations but you have guys drafted 15 or 20 spots lower that do...frustrating to no end.

People can be smart in some ways but not in others....just because a person is able to understand and see opportunities and take advantag of them oesn't necessarily mean they are smart in other areas.

Does this team miss Berglund more than we realize?
matter2003 replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
I dont know...from Berglunds interview it made it seem like he was burnt out and/or facing some metal issues like depression... To walk away from over $12 million I think it would have to be a little more serious than "I was promised playing time" -
If the Sabres didn't go on their miraculous 10 game win streak where they kept erasing 3rd period deficits, had some great puck luck and won OT and shootouts at an unsustainable rate and simply went 5-5, this team would, once again, be at or near the bottom of the NHL standings again... When is it going to change? There is NO WAY a team with Eichel, Dahlin and Skinner with 36 goals should be in this spot...something has to give. Also at one point we were ahead of Tampa Bay in the Standings and they now hold a 30+ point lead on us...that's ridiculous.

Since he has left the team has kind of gone in the crapper tank... Honest question...if the team didn't go on a 10 game winning streak would they be towards the bottom of the NHL again??
