How good does Lehner need to be to justify this trade? Name a goalie. Would a in his prime Miller be good enough?

June 4th was when Lehner was cleared to practice again. Concussion was February 17th That said, I have actually wanted us to land Lehner for the past 3 years (Helm is my other desire). So the price was steep, but I will manage

I would honestly have less of an issue if this was 21 for Lehner. As I like the guy, despite it being an overpayment. It is legwand that posses me off. A useless bench filler that is now taking the spot for one of our better and younger players. I would prefer Larsson playing third line than in Rochester, so Legwand can continue. If we got Legwand as a salary dump then that means Lehner was worth more than 21. Lehner hasn't been able to ride a bike in 6 months because of his concussion

Lehner's sole good game last season was against Buffalo. Maybe Murray watched that game and just assumed he was good

Legwand plays a similar role, just much worse. Why else would we have traded for a defensive third liner? How likely is it we draft Eichel at 2? Or will Murray decide to that up as well

Is there any evidence that handedness actually matters? A right handed shot LW can sometimes put up 60 goals a season

As the cap basically always increases, in some ways the big contracts are most damaging in their early years. Look at Hossa's contract, huge when he signed it - now very fair value. The same would be true for ROR at 7.5 for 8 years. Plus he would still only be 32 or so when he finished it. We have tons of cap room now, and later (when it matters more) the cap should have increased enough to accommodate it

Ignoring the fact they now have 3 covers in 6 years or so; that cover design is hideous
