  1. Like how number one centreman means top 10 centreman in the world
  2. So this just appeared in my fb news feed...
  3. And 2 years ago size mattered. The team that wins the cup is emulated. The team that wins the cup always has a strong vision of the type of game they play.
  4. Quietly optimistic
  5. Yup and so far it seems he is favouring testing the market
  6. They have Smith signed for another 2 years. I'm not sure they pay $9 million or so a year for goalies when they have an internal cap. The other thing here is commitment, like Allen is signed for a long time with the Blues, so you have to trade him to make room for Lehner. I'm not sure Lehner is enough of an upgrade for teams to want to give up defence assets (something the league as a whole seems to be lacking) and then find a suitor for your goalie to make it happen.
  7. Very few teams need goalies. Winnipeg and Calgary are probably your best shots. Dallas needs a good goalie, but is a mess defensively. I'm not sure there is another team in the league (bar Vegas) that needs one: Anaheim: Gibson Arizona: Smith Boston: Rask Calgary: ?? Carolina: Ward / Lack Chicago: Crawford Colorado: Varlamov Colombus: Bob Dallas: ?? Red Wings: Mrazek / Howard Oilers: Talbot Florida: Luongo LA: Quick Minny: Dubnyk Habs: Price Preds: Rinne NJ: Schneider Islanders: Halak? Rags: Ludqvist Ottawa: Andersson Penguins: Murray / Fleury Sharks: Jones Blues: Allen Lightning: Vasilevski Leafs: Anderssen Vancouver: Markstrome? Caps: Holtby Winnipeg: ?? Plus Bishop and one of Murray/Fleury will be taking two of those free or questionable slots
  8. Stamkos. Dude got his pay check and only put up 17 points all year. Talk about lazy!
  9. Add to that, goalies are never traded for that much. Schneider was a young, proven goalie and was traded for the 9th pick on draft day. We couldn't even get Fowler for our 6th overall this year I expect.
  10. Can someone explain the whole Brandon thing to me? What has he done to be hated?
  11. Nope don't want to trade an asset to NJ for him
  12. Wookie, after years or trial and error, is honing his trade proposals. It's almost sad :( That said, it sounds like a nice idea and I would do it. Although that probably means its a little too good for us. Maybe we toss in a 2nd or something.
  13. On the other side, then if you ignore everyone with dissenting opinions to create a nice little echo chamber for yourself
  14. My pick: Pierre Mcguire Dude has a ton of hockey knowledge and I think it falls into the 'might be crazy enough to work' category. Plus he is the only guy who is weirder than Murray.
  15. Let's hope Sabretooth doesn't forget to say hi to Jack in the mornings :bag:

  17. I like Drury. He led us in our best days, maybe he can do it again. Everyone always commented on how smart and savvy he is. Miller as goalie coach and Roy in charge of hospitality?
  18. The other thing, Murray clearly had guys he liked - Kane and Lehner come to mind. His guys. I wonder what happens to them. Also, Antipin - I guess he isn't signing here anymore
  19. I'm saying who out there is available and better than Tim Murray? Can you give me names?
  20. Oh I don't want it. But i'm all but convinced that will happen
  21. Like Lombardi and Sutter...
  22. Lombardi and Sutter. 90% likely would be my guess
  23. Man this is so shocking. Not so sure getting rid of Murray was the right idea tbh. Is there a Gm or prospective GM out there we want? Lombardi is a player's GM and won two cups, but we already have a whole host of bad contracts. At least there is time before the draft to organise stuff.
  24. Babcock has been using Zaitsev as a top pair. Not to suggest Antipin would be the same, but he has been compared to him and has performed well in the KHL. The good players in the KHL are usually at least serviceable in the NHL.
  25. Reinhart is our most expendable piece I think. ROR and Eichel will be our two centres going forward, which makes him the awkward Gooseberry. Kane was practically the only player to score 5 on 5, our weakest area - but I could see him being gone as well due to his weird comments about warming up. However, in conjunction with the need for the coaches to have a players-focus, maybe DD was trying to force systems on players that they didn't think helped them.
