Eichel's done for the season.
I was hoping Leafs would lose their last five games. They play us (who I wrongly thought would care about trying to stop them), Pittsburgh, Washington, Columbus and the Lightning (who are chasing them).
Has Eichel ever failed before? He failed to even get nominated for the Calder (did he even finish top 5?). He has failed to lead Buffalo to the playoffs. Let's hope a long summer gives him enough time to try again. Third time lucky?
I mean they are on track to make this year. In which case we have both made it in 2/10 years. The difference is that Toronto's have been a lot more recent. We will also have averaged less points than them with our 52 and 54 and 81 and whatever we finish with this year.
Is anyone else disappointed with Eichel's couldn't care attitude last few games? I get that we are out of the playoffs but I have seen zero leadership from him. I really hope ROR gets the C. Mathews and McDavid have both played with my intangibles than him.
Man this is just atrocious. McCabe wiffs, Reinhart leaves a 38-goal scorer alone in the slot then everyone skates around JVR to give him a nice shot (Lehner should probably have had it).
We are nicely on track for the Oilers rebuild. Oilers took 11 years to make the playoffs, we are on track for (at least) 7. Do we beat their record?
Did anyone watch Lehner's interview? Pretty much destroys everyone's arguments who said he doesn't take responsibility and only calls out other's mistakes.
Compared to his brother, he has had a very udner whelming AHL season. I believe scouts still rank him highly, otherwise I would be worried we had the Jared Staal
We're basically using the remainder of the season to assess what talent we have. Similar to pre-season. Might as well get some benefit from this lost season.
Yes it is. Making the playoffs when you haven't for over 5 years is progress. Realistically we aren't going to win the cup the first year we make the playoffs, but making them vs not will be a big start - if only to feel like something has been achieved. This team has not made progress in one year of a rebuild. That is absolutely awful - they are far closer to becoming the new Edmonton than the new Chicago or Pittsburgh. In one less year, Toronto may finish 20 point ahead of us. That is a huge difference.
The lightning will take the Leafs place. That's my hope. I wanted it to the be Islanders but they decided they wanted a longer summer break and stopped playing a week ago.
Carolina could take the Bruins spot in a perfect world.
