  1. Most Sabres fans hate Roy, so they are glad. Guy is skilled (70 points probably), has a poor attitude off the ice (apparently). I don't mind him as much. He is not physical, dives a bit and can take lazy penalties. He does play in all situations, and is decent in all three zones. He is not a liability. The biggest blemish is his off-ice persona. He also has a wonderful summer house and occasionally throws toga parties
  2. Adam Richman ‏@AdamRichman @Roy9ner Honor's all mine. My thanks for being the type of athlete sports fans can admire. Beef on Weck on me next time!
  3. I think their UFA tracker is wrong, their article says 4 for 4
  4. Perhaps we should take the frenzy part out of the title?
  5. Can he even play hockey? I hope our top 9 have been working on their conditioning because with him in the line-up Lindy ain't rolling four lines. I guess this is a good pick up? I was never a huge fan of the goon role, all they do is sit on the bench. I am sure this is to do with protection of our stars, which is good and all; but firstly, Mccormick is normally a fun fighter to watch because he isn't a goon (although that fight posted here was good). However, i don't get the protection role, short of dressing him every game, are we just going to dress him against 'problem teams'? Or are we going to wait for someone to run Miller and dress this guy the next time we play them and watch him live the thug life live on TV? He averages 5 minutes a game and is described as a liability on the ice
  6. He played 25 games last year (missed almost half the season with an ankle injury) He played 52 games two years ago (missed 20+ games with an 'upper body injury' - concussion maybe?) He played 70 games 3 years ago, split between Chi and Min His issues seem to be different every time he is injured, which is obviously not that good, but it does mean if someone takes a chance on him he could be a good signing. Again, probably not for the Sabres (unless there was a big trade in place for multiple Dmen and we wanted Mcnabb to have another AHL focused year)
  7. Whatever happened to Cam Barker? The kid was all the talk along with seabrook and Keith, then he got traded a couple months before they win the stanley cup and kid of spiraled away ever since. He played with the Oilers last year - well known for lacking anything resembling a defence - and still couldn't get a contract extension. Does he have a bad attitude? I don't want the Sabres to go after him as we don't need him, but he always struck me as a top-4, anyone know anything about him? EDIT: I wouldn't mind the Sabres taking a swing at Langenrbunner - always liked him
  8. I dunno, i think this move puts the cabbies at risk :s
  9. The only things that could get us Parise are a) His besty Stafford b) His admiration for Miller/Miller's olympic performance
  10. Pominville and Vanek are two of only 18 players who have scored 20 goals+ and 50 points+ in each of the last 5 seasons Not too shabby
  11. No Moen or Stemniak for FA @RenLavoieRDS: Canadiens signs Travis Moen 4 years / 1.8 avg @TSNBobMcKenzie: CGY agrees to terms with Lee Stempniak on a 2 year deal worth $2.5M per year.
  12. It isn't that i wouldn't want him; it is that i think people are wanting him too much, i don't prescribe to the we need to hit more theory (but that is personal taste - i love the red wings style of hockey more). I would rather keep Ennis and Vanek than trade for Ryan. We think Roy has attitude problems, but we want to trade for someone with known attitude problems? Moreover, he didn't face a great quality of competition, so whilst 30 goals is very impressive, i just don't think his points total is great - Ennis has a better ppg average, but we are saying we need to give Ennis + a decent prospect. Just not worth it imo
  13. From insider trading: MTL/Price getting close to a 6/7 year contract around $6mil a year Matt Carle will probably test UFA Staal might sign a long term contract at $6 mil a year Florida is the front runner for Luongo
  14. Hrmmmm that would be 49 over the first 7 and 9 over the last 3....i really hope the lengths/arrangements of these contracts are corrected in the new CBA. Maybe have a franchise player who can be over 5 years in length but no-one else
  15. Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun Told first 7 yrs of Quick's deal worth $7 M per year before tapering off in final 3 years to bring down cap hit . So i would guess $6-$6.2 mil
  16. Rask is also signed for one year at $3.5
  17. ....Made me laugh....now i feel dirty :S (was originally gonna say need a shower, but i felt that had poor connotations, what with the theme of the current jokes :P)
  18. I really hope we don't get Ryan - the guy can only put up like 60 points playing with Getzlaf and Perry, imagine what he would be like with Roy and Leino :s
  19. Cap goes up to 70.2 http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=399437
  20. TBH, i am not sure if deadline deals are worth it. The player rarely clicks with the team in those last few months. Boyes obviously had a horrific last year though, it was strange
  21. Already been posted. But anyway, i thought that it turned out his concussions were not concussions but was something like a trapped nerve in his neck which the doctors have missed. Thus, now that is resolved he can recover?
  22. You would hope Pens management made 100 doctors confirm that Crosby is over/nearly over his injury problem before they signed him to this deal. Either way, this deal seems fair, he is worth $100 million (comparatively :P)
  23. The stars board were talking about Roy/Ott, most would reluctantly do the deal straight up. They seem to really like the guy, although weirdly, many have described Roy as a "slight upgrade offensively" seemingly unaware Roy has put up almost double the number of points Ott has One bright spark suggested: Steve ott, scott glennie, And our new swedish goalie prospect and a 2013 second rounder for derick roy, tyler myers. The 'prospect' turns out to be a 30 year old, who is destined for their AHL
