True. But most teams finish +/- 3% of 50%, so over 82 games and thousands off faceoffs that difference becomes negligible. On the other hand, what that stat won't tell us is key faceoff draws - this is more of a suspicion than anything else, but most of the time teams are probably not going to do everything to win the faceoff, so one could win a faceoff against a better faceoff opponent. However, when the faceoff matters (20 seconds left in the game, 1-0 up in the defensive zone kinda thing) both players will try hard, so the better one is more likely to win it - if that makes sense. Like i said, more of a musing than a point. Anyway, the Sabres are not like most teams - our average over the last 4 games is 36.6%, that is a lot of faceoffs to be losing - and it is not coming from one player, all of our centres (Ott is included in that) have had games where they are in the 20s% or lower area. I agree that post-faceoff play can negate the outcome, but chasing the puck all the time is tiring and also a little bit demotivating - you make a strong shift in the offensive zone, get a shot off and the goalie covers up, you lose the faceoff and the puck is cleared, overtime it is wearing to know you probably aren't going to win the draw. Not to mention, we have had probably 5 faceoffs that have been cleanly won and the puck has gone straight past the defence and down the ice. So I think our whole face off play is sloppy. And I think faceoffs are really important on the PP, because sustained pressure is vital. It is no wonder they keep looking for the perfect shot for a goal because they know any other shot will end up with the puck being cleared :P

I dunno, I see them as one of the more important aspects of the game. You win a faceoff you have control of the play. You win it in the offensive zone, you get a shot on goal. You win it in the defensive zone you get a break out of the zone and stop them shooting. 100% of the shots they don't take won't go in.

He was decent last night. When Tyler is on his game he jumps into plays - i was impressed with him. He made a sweet move to get the pucks to Grigs, who then got stoned by the goalie

Sabres fans: Lose 3 games? Might as well throw the next 40 games. Season is over already. Grigs staying will have nothing to do with this team and its chances at the cup - it will be if he can develop more here than there. An 18 year old is rarely the saviour of a team, nor should he be. I don't know why people act like he should be (if only Lindy would play him properly he could be the second coming)

So Galchenyuk (sp), Yakupov and Grigs are the only ones left? (Did Murray make it for CBS?)

Grigs got 17 minutes tonight - guess Lindy doesn't hate him! That or Lindy is sensitive to you folk berating him. Annoying game - we didn't play great, Myers had a good game, really good actually. But we lost this one on a couple unlucky bounces

I don't think this loss is on Lindy. At some point the other lines have to bury their chances. The coach isn't there to hold their hands. Ennis looked a little better in the 2nd/3rd periods - he actually got a shot off rather than just dangeling till he lost the puck

What the hell is wrong with the rest of our lines? 4 games with no scoring from 75% of the roster. We are lucky to be 2-2. Ennis needs to get his ###### together. He is the 2nd line center who has put up no points and can't win a faceoff. Also he needs to get to a friggin barbers
