No Matt Cookie, I'm genuinely shocked. He should have Ott's place. I can see why Kaleta is on that list though

Buffalo News: Darcy on possible changes: 'It won't be the coach'
Trettioåtta replied to Two or less's topic in Archive
Fire Ruff. Ruff addressed the topic of his job security head-on Wednesday when asked about it by The News after practice in First Niagara Center. “I think you’re always concerned,” he said. “My job is to keep the morale up. The hope for the team has been real good. The guys have been positive. They’ve been upbeat. They dug in, tried to come back” in Tuesday’s 4-3 loss in Ottawa, “tried to fight through the adversity. “So you’ve got to give them credit for digging in but I understand the other side of it too. We need to win games. We need to win them now.” -
I think we probably have the same idea. But for the last week we have had to use all 9 defensemen, so it isn't like people were missing out. Nobody likes having talented/young guys sitting out and wasting away.

When the Caps/Cap broadcasters were calling Var-LA-mov Varla-mov he just told them how to say his name and said you stress the LA part. It isn't surprising people butcher foreign names, all it takes is one comment to correct it

Any news on Sekera or Leino? -
Also Hecht is an adult and if it bothered him he could take Ruff aside and say you're pronouncing my name wrong. People need to remember players are adults, not children, they can voice there opinion very easily and they can chose to play hard or not

Could Henrick Tallinder be the answer for Myers?

Myers has shown improvement over last few games. Having a different partner would be helpful for him, but it is worth people registering he has become a lot better -
Could Henrick Tallinder be the answer for Myers?

I think on a bad Tyler Myers day he is a mediocre defenseman. On a good day he is top 10. His play will get better, and it is encouraging to seem him move in the right direction - his skating was a lot better, as was his play. Once he gets confidence he will be back on form. Also, in this shortened season, players have less time to review their play (i mean mentally, not watching game tape) so really it has only been 2 weeks of bad play - something which is not abnormal -

I was being sarcastic. Myers would fetch a lot. But i think he will bounce back just fine. It is not unusual for a young D man to struggle. Also Scuderi has spent the last 3 seasons mentoring Doughty...just saying People have already said that! They say trading him was a mistake as we lost our faceoff guy -

Maybe we should just buy Myers out? That would save us making any trades. Thoughts? Also Rob Scuderi is a Tallinder type player and is a UFA at the end of the season. let's get him (if i say it enough one day DR might stumble across the website and my many comments on him and decide i am right :P) Because Myers has started slow. The guy will come around, his past has not been nearly as bad as people have remembered. It is about leading back to where he was - so we settle for the fact this looked a thousand times more like the Tyler we know than the one this season has shown -
Harry's cousin is the Dudley son, (related on the mother's side). But this guy has no siblings, so can't have a nephew. I think the whole relationship he proposed is buIIshit

Myers had a really decent game against Ottawa, bar that one bad play (that Pardy could have broken up). People seem to be so swayed by what the final score is on their assessment of players But yeah, I wouldn't mind trading for Tallinder - Leopold and a 5th for Tallinder or something -
Also Hecht seems to be playing a more defensive game this season than pervious ones (maybe to Grigo can have a but more leash to play with). But I agree, none of those guys would be putting up the points. 10 games in Stafford, Ennis, Foligno, Ott and Grigo should be a combined 30-35 points. They have 20. Having said this the real damaging line is our third. It has done nothing. I get that Grigo is young, but in 10 NHL games he has normally looked like a non factor. It would be nice over the next 10 to see him emerge a little more and not necessarily put points up, but seem more dangerous. I would like him to finish this season with 20-25 points. When does Leino recover? He must have a bad groin strain to miss 10 games (To clarify, I come to my decisions by saying the first line should have an average of 70 points, 50 for the second, 30 for the third and 10 for the fourth - for a total of 480. Then this value can be made up to 600 by having a defence produce 120 points (40, 30, 20, 20, 10, 10)). If a team can get to 600 points, I think they are decent. Sabres got to 499 last season

Well I don't think we can get Gretzky anymore if i'm honest, he has lost a step or two in recent years (Also he only played 12 games for the Blues). Vanek emerging as a talent might help, the only other thing we could do would be pick up Iginla in UFA? Otherwise there isn't much to be done

"You could see [Pronger] had talent, but it was a ho-hum thing. He really didn't have any direction. He was under a lot of pressure and just wasn't ready for the responsibility. Of course that team wasn't exactly overloaded with players who knew how to win" In the early years of his St. Louis career, Pronger played under coach and general manager Mike Keenan who insisted on Pronger improving his conditioning and reducing his mistakes. Late in his first season, the acquisition of Wayne Gretzky took pressure off of Pronger, which combined with Keenan's practices, allowed Pronger to concentrate on improving his defensive play So, a change in coaching is important and having someone who accepts no mistakes is important. I would not trade Pronger for Shanny
-
Yeah, maybe a mistake! That or we should get a king's ransom for him. Clearly others teams see Myers playing poorly and think they can scoop him up cheaply. Good thing no-one on this board is gm. So is a trade nearly finalised or something or are you demanding a trade like everyone else?

Well Ruff has been good with Enroth so far, he has played over 20% of the games so far. I think that is adequate as a back up. Also, Miller has a habit of playing very well after playing poorly, hence getting the nod again. Enroth also needs to stand on his head and earn the confidence of Ruff to put him in. We have this weird thing that Grigo and Enroth and others can play as bad as they want but Ruff should give them more ice time and better line mates. No, you earn your keep, 15 months without a win is hardly proving you should get more icetime -
Noooooo. He needs to be healthy and okay, so we can sign him and pair him with Myers

They are still fun to watch, I think. Honestly, last night's game could have gone so differently. If we had scored at that scrum with 25 seconds to go and won it in overtime people would think differently. Ottawa fans were saying how it wasn't a pretty victory - I also thought Karlsson was pedestrian, noticed him on the front end a few times and noticed him make a few errors, but nothing spectacular. We have had slow starts in 3 seasons now - I'd be intrigued to know why. Do we have a lot of dead weight players? Do they take a while to understand Lindy's system (but when they do it really works)? We also have too many mediocre players - Leo, Brennan, Pardy, Sulzer, Weber are all alright but they are a 5/6 d man on a team, the same is true with our forwards. I thin we need to shed some of the weight and get a 4th line that has some identity. I always feel our 4th line is just going through the motions. Grigo still looks like bambi out there - a little lost all the time. It will come, but sooner would be nicer

We are a team that realies on our goalie. it is that simple, we always have defensive breakdowns and odd man rushes against us. We need a goalie who can step in and play well. I know Enroth rarely plays, but guess what? That is the life of a back-up. Lindy has been good at playing Enroth this year and Enroth has shown nothing. He has one win in the last 15 months (17 games) and a .837 sv% and a 4.73 gaa. It is hard to defend those stats. Yes I don't think Lindy should have called him out, but that is Lindy, he has done it to almost every play on this team. I don't think Enroth is held to a higher standard, I just don't think his play is very good. The two games he has started, he has let in some weak goals. Goals which are not necessarily easy saves, but still comfortably saveable. Also what is wrong with the mans 5 hole. Although not one to generally say this kind of thing...is he too small? He is 5'10' but he looks very small in the crease. -
