  1. My general Patriots-induced misery aside, you missed two awesome games.
  2. I think the worst part of this is going to be even more "Tom Brady is unquestionably the GOAT" talk. He threw a game-ending interception! Except some dumb dumb was offsite by a hand, with zero impact on the play. I hate this so much. Everything about it. And seriously, the NFL overtime rules. This is like if MLB decided extra innings at-bats by a coin flip and the first team to get a run wins. Just unbelievably stupid. But if they didn't change it after the Super Bowl two years ago, will they now? I doubt it.
  3. The NFL has the dumbest overtime rules in the history of professional sports.
  4. This game is going to give me an ulcer.
  5. Waaaaaay too much. And we all know Andy Reid is going to mismanage his remaining TOs.
  6. I can't believe they didn't sneak it there. Thanks Bill!
  7. I'd pay for a Brady pick on this drive.
  8. Ah yes, the "trust the defense" approach has never backfired against a HoF QB. Also: ????
  9. No. Giving Brees 5 minutes with a tie is the wrong call. McVay is just lucky Payton and the refs bailed him out.
  10. Truth. Well, that was a good start to the half at least.
  11. They're employing the only strategy they can: attack the terrible Chiefs run D to shorten the game and minimize possessions for the best offense in the league. So annoying.
  12. I hate the Patriots more than any entity on planet earth. McVay with the FG. Payton not making it a 3 possession game, thereby guaranteeing the Rams would have the final possession.
  13. That game had some of the worst coaching and officiating in the final 6 minutes that I've ever seen. Wow.
  14. Same. Risto was there. It misses by a hair, and wouldn't have missed at all if Risto was skating.
  15. Yes. It just goes unnoticed because it gets drown out in the swamp of misery after every loss.
  16. 2RD long term, yes. But I full expect Bogo is slotted there next season, so the hole trading Risto is really to play next to Dahlin. I fear maybe longer ?
  17. I'm not looking for someone who can carry a top pair, though. I just need someone who can play respectable minutes next to the best defenseman in the NHL.
  18. Well, whether I like it or not, Bogo is that 2RD for another year regardless. Regardless, I'd definitely like to add a replacement piece, though I'm not sure who would be available for a price I'm willing to pay. Brawndo's mention of Trouba is definitely interesting. I think Stralman could be worth a 3ish year deal if Tampa can't hold on to him. ...Tyler Myers? *ducks*
  19. Hey, you're preaching to the choir here. I'd prefer to just refer to them as stats. Because, after all, that's all they are. But I also think the anti-stats crowd has flipped it around some to use advanced as a derogatory term. PA does it regularly when he talks about how counting shots isn't advanced. Edit: Just to expand, PA isn't wrong when he says that about Corsi and its variants. xG I would consider advanced so far as these things go, but that's definitely used less around here anyway. As a whole I'm skeptical that changing the terminology would change the reception that these things get so long as the team is in a state that the stats say they're not very good. I'm not opposed to trying though.
  20. We don't have enough bodies on the right. But with Dahlin going to be as good as he is, I think that's less important than not having enough quality centers. The way I see it is as soon as next year Dahlin can carry a top pairing with basically anyone who isn't obviously putrid. The important RHD spot then is the 2nd pair, which is, I think, less important than the 2C. I'm still a huge believer in Mittelstadt, but I'd be in denial if I said he wasn't less ready than I thought, so I'm not sure even next year he'll be able to handle the 2C spot for a playoff team hoping to win anything.
  21. I'm cognizant of that and usually leave that stuff out of the GDTs because of it. But I mean, the same thing might happen to posters when someone says to trade their favorite player, or always points out that player's flaws. No tangible fruit other than to impact somebody. But that stuff never gets talked about as being inappropriate for a thread, or something that should be relegated to its own thread.
  22. Basically what WildCard said. Convincing someone that we should/shouldn't trade one of our 1sts for help now doesn't bear any fruit either. There is no greater end in that debate than in discussing using stats to analyze the game. Yet somehow that hasn't come under fire. And that's the point, whether something here has any impact in the real world shouldn't be the measure of whether the discussion itself is worthwhile.
