Yea, I mean for most of them the sections are too small to label. A stacked bar design probably isn't the best for these data if you're trying to communicate to a larger audience. I think the biggest problem is the writers who create this stuff largely talk to each other, and they all pretty intuitively get it. But for anyone who is unfamiliar, the presentation is pretty useless. They should be more concerned with clearly communicating the information to a broader audience.

They're not intuitive. As a stats guy, I have no problem saying most hockey writers who create data visualizations are freaking terrible at it.

Does it? Seemingly every time moving him is brought up there's only a few of us generally in favor, and everybody else is generally against. I say generally, of course, because I think most could be swayed based on the return.

Pominville has been very productive given his ice time. Yes, we know that's only because of the time he's been with Jack, which is why knowing the full context is important. If the chart were to only include his non-Jack minutes I assume he'd look awful. And my interpretation of Sheary is the chart shows he is who we thought he was. A decent middle-6 guy who is going to score some but is ultimately more of a 3rd liner than 2nd.

Miller+ would have been such a nice return for us. Instant upgrade with a legit 2C (on a solid contract) who can slide over to wing in the top-6 once Mittelstadt is ready. I'm so sad this didn't happen.

I dunno. People seem to keep pointing to not hitting enough as some gigantic problem that must be solved before we're good. People like to see hits. I get it. It's fun! But there still isn't any evidence it contributes to a winning team.

Huh? So we agree? Because I totally agree. But you said Crosby hits, which is simply not true. I agree he plays a physical game by going to the net and engaging in battles along the boards. But board battles are what people are yammering about tonight, they're carrying on about checking.

Of the top 10 players in the NHL, how many hang their hat on physicality? I don't think a single one does. As always, there is a difference in willingness and ability to win board battles and throwing body checks. The former matters, the latter is just something that entertains.
