  1. Your semi-regular reminder that Duchene's reputation is better than his game. I'll hate the world if we give him a gigantic contract.
  2. I'm beyond shocked McBeane chased Brown. This might be the most encouraged I've been since their hire.
  3. Before the game ends he'll cross check someone after the whistle and a bunch of fans will praise his toughness, so it's okay.
  4. No problem, we have vet possession receiver Zay Jones to make him look good.
  5. Well, he was sort of a workout warrior. His 3-cone and shuttle numbers were pathetic. Like, among the worst ever recorded. It jives with some stuff I've read about him having difficulty separating, which is more about agility and sudden burst than it is the other measurable. I don't think he'll bust per se, but he's definitely not Megatron, Julio, or AJ either.
  6. Kane, JVR, and Stone are the relevant AAV comparable. The others are too far back and you'd have to go percent of cap at time of signing. Anyway, I agree that Skinner really isn't a $9 million player. I think he's better than Kane and JVR, but nowhere near Stone. $8M sounds pretty fair to me.
  7. I don't expect him to win every battle, but if the argument for his bad numbers is his play against top players, then he can't go getting smoked by nobodies.
  8. Risto, our "only physical defenseman" who we ostensibly keep around for "grit" loses a battle to...who?....and it ends up in our net. I'm not absolving Tage and Mitts, but cmon man.
  9. Pfffft. You're posting on the internet on a Saturday night, you have nothing but time!
  10. Yes, serviceable. I agree. They were playing like All-stars, which they are not.
  11. If only some kind statistic could have predicted this. Some sort of information a coach could use to make an optimal lineup decision. Well. I would argue neither is actually as good as they were playing early in the year.
  12. I just had a beer named donut cookie and I night be in heaven.
  13. He does. But he's also shown he basically ignores everything analytical. So ?‍♀️
  14. Yup. About .10 drop in save percentage for game #2.
  15. I have no problem with Ullmark getting more of the load, but starting goalies on back to backs is almost always a bad idea.
  16. So your defense of Risto is that only two of the three ways to evaluate a player say he's kinda bad? ?
  17. Apparently at the combine yesterday, McDermott said that you really want your offense to be a threat to score 21 points in today's NFL to be a legit contender. Good lord almighty.
  18. His first two 20-goal season were with the Rangers; he had 43 points in his first full season (averaging about 15 minutes of ice time per game) and 56 in his second (averaging about 16.5 minutes per game). Before being traded to Tampa the following season, he had 13 goals and 40 points in 63 games with the Rangers. He's not a product of playing in Tampa.
  19. I'm not thinking of a different player. How many 3rd liners have 3 (and possibly 4) straight 20-goal season? Miller was 34th among centers last year in scoring, and that's with players who obviously don't play center being counted such as Marner, Forsberg, and Huberdeau. Not sure what else you want from a 2nd line center. Sure, having a second Eichel would be awesome (and we all hope Mitts gets there) or a Backstrom-Kuznetsov combo, but that's really a team having two 1Cs.
  20. We just disagree on how good Miller is. He had a run of about 5 season where he was clearly a top-6 forward. This year, not so much, but I'm comfortable banking on it being an outlier given he's only 25.
  21. Well, that spells out the problem pretty concisely.
  22. Miller has had a down season for sure, but I generally think you're underrating him.
  23. Which is why a return of Miller+ would be really good for us.
