Oh I'm not arguing that the Leafs are good, just that the way they play maximizes offensive output and yes, it's fun. Being fun is the right kind of being bad! The more pertinent question is why they're a mess defensively: the coach and/or the players? I look up and down that roster, and I see very few players who are solid defensively, but a lot of offensive firepower. I also don't remember Babcock's Detroit teams being so loosey goosey, so I'm thinking the players aren't capable of doing what he wants, or he recognized with that roster that his only hope was to out-score teams so he adjusted his system. Maybe he wouldn't even have the team playing the same way with our roster. Who knows. All I know is the Leafs are highly entertaining to watch, even if they're not very good.

Babcock isn't perfect, for sure. What I was trying to get at was he coaches a system that, ya know, promotes offense. I'm curious what Jack would have looked like in such a situation.
-
He's great. Might be better than Jack. But also Babcock.

I think I've heard of two of your top 10  -
Please, for the love of whatever, don't start this stuff already. I can't take it in the offseason, let alone now. What next season's schedule looks like today couldn't possibly be less meaningful. At this point last year, the Cardinals and Bengals looked like certain losses this year. Welp.

I think we spend too much time fixated on line numbers. I know some have suggest ditching 1-2-3 entirely and instead having a top line, a middle six, and a bottom line. But even that I don't think is a good way to go about it because there's still going to be angst over who is the "top". I also think numbering lines gets people all riled up with things like "Kane isn't a 3rd liner!" and whatnot. To me, especially with Pittsburgh winning the Cup wit the combos they had...there is a top-9 and a 4th line. That's it. Everything within that top-9 should be flexible and able to be moved around based on play/need/chemistry without any annoyance amongst us fans. Would also allow us to discuss Samson at center without "You don't draft a 3rd line center #2 overall!" spoiling the conversation. After all, Phil Kessel was on Pittsburgh's "3rd line" even though he was better than all of the other wingers. Fit and chemistry dictated it, and it wasn't meant in any kind of derogatory sense.
-
That's about my only issue with those lines. Other than that, I think it works both theoretically and based on play this season. Not exactly what I'd do, but not complaint worthy.

I believe 26CB left because Shrader kept giving him a hard time about posting so many links/tweets rather than original content. And now Shrader is gone. Sucks all around. -
STOP LONGING FOR OTHER AVERAGE-TO-BAD QBS AND I'LL STOP DEFENDING A QB I DON'T EVEN WANT TO PAY TO KEEP AROUND! SSSTTTTOOOOOPPPPPP!!!!!! Yes.

Dump Siemian onto the Bills team, and I don't think our running game compensates for the defensive differences: before this weekend, Denver was #1 in DVOA, Buffalo was 22nd. Denver started off 4-0, and have gone 4-6 since then. Sure, you could point to the competition, but the fact their defense has been great tells me that no, Siemian is not actually capable of much success without a strong running game--Denver's offense has been a dumpster fire since Anderson got hurt. Is Anderson as good as McCoy? No, but he's no slouch either. In offensive DVOA, Buffalo is 10th, and Denver is 22nd--if Siemian were so capable of a passer, that wouldn't be the case (it's also worth noting that both Thomas and Sanders have been healthy for him all season). Siemian is not good, he's just a different kind of average; but the bottom line is both Siemian and Tyrod are dependent upon strong supporting casts to be successful. Give Tyrod the best defense in football and we're in a playoff spot, too.

...he has multiple? :w00t: -
Yup, you and I are totally the opposite  I think Tyrod brings a far more exciting brand of football than the noodle arms of the world. Running around, deep balls, fun moments! Watching Orton was some of the worst games for me. I disagree. I'm also not sure the running game would be as good without the threat of Tyrod's legs and deep ball. Conversely, this would be a playoff team with status quo offense and slightly above average defense. I'm a Bills record truther! Though QB remains the biggest issue for a long run of competitiveness, the defense has been the biggest problem last year and this year.
-
No, it doesn't have to be better than Tyrod. It can be worse. For example...Blake Bortles. Tyrod:Bills::Stafford:Sabres Okay, not great, and not as good as fans want him to be...but also not as bad as fans think he is. Edit: Derek Roy probably would have been better to use there than Stafford. Whatever, my point remains the same. Familiarity has bred contempt.

Siemian will be, at best, Chad Pennington. He's severely limited by his arm strength. I don't think the picks will necessarily get cleaned up because a lot of them are him attacking tight windows his arm can't fit the ball into consistently. Gunslinger mentality without the gun to deliver.

Followers don't get to choose Matt Moulson...Matt Moulson chooses his followers. -
I'll be honest, I just don't understand this. Are the aesthetics of average that important?
-
So why is he better than Tyrod? They both need a strong running game to succeed. They're in the same class of QB, even if they're there for different reasons. I'm becoming more convinced that many Bills fans want a QB who throws more aggressively, even if he's not actually an upgrade.

Can't say I'm the biggest porter fan in the world, but last week I had some Ballast Point Victory at Sea with coffee and vanilla and...my goodness, I loved it. Gonna pick up a 4-pack today.

Has Eleven been around lately? -
Yea, that's right. Also, if he ever returns as a regular poster, I want to pick DeLuca's avatar for awhile.

Anyone still pining for Trevor Siemian?
-
Long term I still think the best move is either run ROR-Eichel-Reinhart down the middle with Larsson on a 4th line that can actually play, or sliding O'Reilly to Eichel's wing. But if the team is dead set on Reinhart as a winger, then a trade for Ekblad is a no-brainer. Florida laughs regardless though, since they don't exactly need a center.
