I find it hilarious how so many touted Moulson for being a solid vet influence on Eichel...and Jack's watching more film and doing more to improve himself without the old geezer.

Nylander will make you happy! I BELIEVE IN YOU ALEX!

Wow. I totally read "do" as "don't" and ran with it. Is it possible the Nyquil is still messing with me 10 hours after the fact? No? :bag: -
Reinhart Dressed and Benched; Late to Meeting

If you get yourself to the Sabrespace meetup next year, I'll wear a cardigan with patches. I promise. -
Would you rather go with a high end shot suppressor, freeing up Risto to be our puck mover, or get a Fowler-type? Obviously the ideal is both, but that's probably not happening unfortunately. I see some logic in getting a Brodin type, but who do you pair with him to free up Risto? Don't think that guy is on our roster either.

The "one move" you're referring to is Klefbom being healthy all year, right? :p

I tried a couple times. No dice. As it turns out, it's hard to get support when the crowd is 70% Leafs fans and you're winning basically from open to close.

I disagree. It's perfectly reasonable to not want to pay more for a product that isn't getting better. Who wants to pay more for stuff? If you have an eagerness to dispose of more of your money and prices aren't increasing enough for your tastes, I'll happily take a donation :p On the other hand, I agree that expecting ticket prices to remain flat is indeed an unreasonable expectation. ;) -
Reinhart Dressed and Benched; Late to Meeting
TrueBlueGED replied to WildCard's topic in The Aud Club
I don't think that message was clear. What came through to me was punishing an individual player took prominence over trying to win the game. I don't take issue with punishment for violating team rules. What I take issue with is Bylsma's utter inflexibility with respect to the situation. The team was on the second half of a back to back, lost Okposo due to illness, and (presumably) couldn't get someone in from Rochester. He chose to put the team a man down for the sake of being late to a team meeting. He put Samson above the team. Bench him the next game when you can ice a full team. Hell, suspend him without pay for the game if it's that important. -

Second night of a back to back. Unexpectedly down Okposo. Anybody think Bylsma has the stones to do this if we're in the thick of a playoff race? I sure don't. Faux accountability. -

Do you mean to tell me Bylsma struggled with adapting to a dynamic situation? I'M SHOCKED! -

They could have dressed him and had him sit in the locker room to comply with the rule, no? Making him sit there on the bench is amateur hour. -

My money is on illness, but I'm going to continue blaming Bylsma until I know better because it's fun. -

If both Bylsma and Reinhart are with the team next year, Murray's an idiot. I also happen to think he's an idiot if he opts to trade Reinhart and keep Bylsma, but that'd at least be defensible if it returns a top flight defenseman. -
All the more reason to entice Vegas to take him off our hands. If Bogo is getting big minutes, you're not going to be a good team.

Bucky tears into Pegulas — "At what point does the honeymoon end?"
TrueBlueGED replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
I honestly don't know how much clearer I can be: a choice does not have to be made. -
ME3 was an abomination, and it wasn't just the ending. The way sidequests were found (Lul random conversation as a passerby), to the "exploration," the lack of impact from previous games, and the lack of any kind of urgency. Such a letdown after the first two.

1) There were viable "big banger" alternatives to most of those I listed. 2) I agree Bylsma plays a similar style to Sutter insofar as they're both trying to slow things down and limit events while working the boards, but the strategies are vastly different.

He's saying fans are struggling with which to choose. Which, of course, implies a choice has to be made at all. Again, in Becky's world, you can only be grateful for the "other stuff" or dissatisfied with the team stuff. It's a false choice--you can be both of these things simultaneously. -
Not really. Reinhart, Nylander, Gionta, Moulson, Franson, Ennis' extension, O'Reilly, Rodrigues...and more. Plenty of guys whose strength is not the muck game.

A lot depends on what we don't know. For instance, what do the players really think of him? If the Pittsburgh stars couldn't wait to get rid of him, and our stars don't like him...how much of this is around the league? Is it an impediment to getting players to come here? And how secure is Murray? Hitching his wagon to Bylsma could actually be worse for his job security if he isn't getting pressure from above to give him another year. -

"I'm not the puppet, you're the puppet!" Bucky flat out says, in the part you quoted, it's an either/or proposition--you cannot be grateful for the civic stuff and critical of the teams' performance. What a bunch of hooey. -
I just want to point out, for seemingly the quadrillionth time, that no such camp exists. Some may think Bylsma is the biggest problem, but nobody has said he's the only problem.

And what if the coach of his own choosing isn't available in the middle of the season? What if we're slow out of the gate, Bylsma is fired, and we're saddled with Terry Murray for 60 games? It's flushing the season down the toilet. Or worse: the roster is improved enough to make the playoffs with Bylsma, and that itself is enough to buy him yet another season. Barf. This is the perfect offseason to make a coaching change. -
My opinion on Gionta hasn't changed: one year deal at a reduced salary.
