  1. They're making a Dark Phoenix X-men? As in, to obliterate all memory of X3? Okay, I'm excited.
  2. Meh. Use one playoff year to draw conclusions if you like. But you'd be wrong to do so. It may well be diminishing in predictive power as the league evolves and more teams adapt, but we're still several years away from really knowing. I mean, a single statistic beat everyone save for Eleven last year.
  3. Your last line in the post I quoted did not make this clear at all. Not to me, anyway. ANYWAY, this is certainly fair.
  4. Well that's awfully limiting. Though I'm on the Fenton bandwagon, somebody like Brisebois should absolutely be a candidate. Among others.
  5. This was always my reading of it. Besides, if we're going to take him utterly literally...he had nothing to do with hiring Bylsma.
  6. Do you honestly believe Murray gets fired if we're in the playoffs? He was fired because the team was neither good nor functional. We heard about structure, discipline, and character...in the context of a bad team. Pegula, rightly or wrongly, believes those things contribute to winning...ergo, Murray was fired primarily because the team was not winning, and Pegula didn't think he had the right stuff to get them winning.
  7. Suck. Please do not suck. Really though, don't be afraid. This team is in a spot where to fix what needs fixing, a big move is going to have to be made. Don't be afraid to make it.
  8. True, but I'd rather snark the trade tonight. PK Subban: bad leader, doesn't play defense Shea Weber: all-world leader, defensive stud Welp.
  9. I really think Montreal needs to look for a way to add some speed on defense
  10. This is excellent news. Come on down, Paul Fenton!
  11. I couldn't possibly want less to do with him. Somebody's gonna be dumb, and I don't want it to be us. He'll be 31 in the middle of next season, had 30 goals this year on a shooting percentage 11 points (!!!) above his career average. Plus, I'm mostly okay with our forwards.
  12. Wasn't that lovely?
  13. Well sure, as any self-respecting member of the Buffalo community knows that it's simply "wings." Adding the "chicken" would rightfully invite ridicule.
  14. Guys. Girls. I think the dismissal of Murray has broken our dear Dudacek.
  15. Because we decided to hire Dave Nonis or Mike Gillis.
  16. Leaving Carrier exposed would be awfully dumb, but yea, hardly crippling.
  17. Well, that'd be one way to definitively prove there is no God.
  18. I don't think there's a single person employed by an NHL team that would expose Kane in an expansion draft. And that includes Dustin Byfuglien. There may be some fallout with trades in and around the expansion draft, but the protected list itself is the easiest thing in the world for the team to set. A new GM would literally have to be attempting to sabotage the team to get it wrong in any meaningful way.
  19. Time to add "massage therapist" to Eichel's growing list of job titles! :p Really though, could also point to Lehner's struggles with his ankle last season.
  20. I don't think there was a firm consensus on it only being Bylsma, or only being Murray, or both. "Only Bylsma" may have been a plurality choice, but I think a healthy number of folks who wanted to fire Bylsma also felt Murray was a problem. Edit: Personally, I'd have given Murray a second coach, but I think there was enough on the negative side of the ledger (especially if the behind the scenes stuff is anywhere near as bad as depicted) to make the move on both of them. Edit 2: And again, I think there's a strong possibility that Murray was still in Bylsma's corner. In which case, the "fire Bylsma" crowd should be happy both went.
  21. I agree, but I think many are on a "Pegula sucks at everything in the known universe" kick at the moment.
  22. Can't say I disagree with this take: YardsPerPass.com‏ @YardsPerPass 52m52 minutes agoMore Watched that Pegula press conference Terry needs a bad guy, he needs someone to run the whole thing + allow him to be the likeable owner
  23. After the presser, I think the occam's razor explanation is essentially this: -The on-ice results were bad -The off-ice environment was a show -Pegula holds Bylsma and Murray jointly accountable for these things I think it's that simple. The details are sure fun to speculate about and discuss, but at the end of the day, I think this is what happened.
  24. I'm not sure what your point is. Edmonton won, so Vlasic isn't a real shutdown guy?
  25. Harrington still holds the championship belt: Mike Harrington‏Verified account @ByMHarrington 50m50 minutes agoMore Complaint Dept: Wouldn't have killed Pegula to give us 30 minutes after all this time. Obviously I got a bunch more things to ask. Step 1) Ask bad questions Step 2) Complain you don't have time to ask the good questions
