  1. He can probably still score goals with what Toronto is going to ask him to do...but I think almost anyone could score goals in that role. Could probably get the same out of Vanek for half the price and one year of term.
  2. Well, with Patrick Marleau signing $6.35Mx3 at 38 years old, I have a hard time seeing Kane take fewer dollars or years than that.
  3. Were you happy to have Jeff Jilson?
  4. I don't think he is. And even the mighty Lundqvist fell off some once he hit ~34. Price will be 31 when this contract kicks in. 10/10
  5. I shall take this bet with delight. How long should the avatar run? For the playoffs? Or all the way to the anniversary of the trade?
  6. Yea, their stars were obviously too scared to play well enough to win anything without him.
  7. Care to make an avatar bet on their production?
  8. Might be. Wonder if he's looking for two years and teams are only offering one.
  9. I'd still like one more forward signing. A Pirri or Vanek. Doesn't sound like it's coming though.
  10. $5.5Mx5 is my max. I'd be shocked if that's enough. I think this thread needs a poll for dollars and years people are willing to go.
  11. Underperformed what? His draft status? He's been a reliable 2nd/3rd line player about his entire career. That's hardly "balls" worthy. Though possible he has a second down year in a row, I don't think it's likely.
  12. The Sabres enjoyed Meltdown Derrico from the tank and want to bring him back :p
  13. I'll burn Botterill in effigy if he hands Kane a contract remotely like this. If this is what the market dictates is necessary (I don't think it is), you let him walk. Simple as that. He's a nice piece, but he's not a "retain at all costs" piece.
  14. Yes. I think he can be an NHL 4th liner, but at worst, he'll be a stud scorer for Rochester.
  15. I'm beginning to have a bit of a mancrush on Jason Botterill.
  16. Bogo's replacement? (I'm kidding)
  17. I think most of them just want to live in NYC with a bunch of money--the Rangers just happen to be the only real option for employment. (Yes, I'm saying the Devils and Islanders don't count)
  18. Since the offseason is the time for high fantasy, I'll just pretend he's our Conor Sheary.
  19. Yea, within like the last 10 minutes. My stomach sank a little seeing it.
  20. I still have (very) faint hope that if told he's going to be riding the AHL bus the next two years, he may just decide to hang 'em up.
  21. I'm not sure they walk away since it'd only be 1-2 years, but definitely in the cards. And given the Jones contract, it's not crazy to think Lehner could be awarded in that ballpark. See: Jones, Martin.
  22. Kulikov's playoff performance, and the interpretation thereof, remain one of the best examples of recency bias in....ahem...recent memory.
  23. Pierre LeBrun‏Verified account @PierreVLeBrun 14m14 minutes ago More Sharks have signed Marc-Edouard Vlasic to an 8-year, $56 million extension ($7 M aav) and Martin Jones to a 6-year deal worth $5.75 M aav That Jones contract is insane. Utterly insane. The Vlasic deal will suck the last 3-4 years, but he's so good right now and that roster is aging, so it makes sense to go for it. Jones just seems so replaceable, though.
  24. I just think with Lehner's injury history and contract uncertainty, Botterill values securing a quality backup.
  25. This is a great addition. All Pouliot does is generate positive possession wherever he plays.
