Underperformed what? His draft status? He's been a reliable 2nd/3rd line player about his entire career. That's hardly "balls" worthy. Though possible he has a second down year in a row, I don't think it's likely.

I'm not sure they walk away since it'd only be 1-2 years, but definitely in the cards. And given the Jones contract, it's not crazy to think Lehner could be awarded in that ballpark. See: Jones, Martin.
