  1. Tick tock. Tick tock. I know it's not super common for significant deals to be made at this point of the year, and even less common for those trades to involve quality centers. But Botterill dug his grave and he has to figure out a way to dig out. No sympathy. The team is still close enough to the playoffs where this thing can be salvaged. Get it done.
  2. I'm saying teams should but don't. LA and Chicago are the two current prominent examples, but they're hardly alone in the annals of history.
  3. No, they don't. Teams should get to the rebuild point that gets talked about, but they never do, even after they have obviously aged out of contention.
  4. The Pats are about to lose to the Dolphins. Life is good. Yeldon, at least, probably deserved more work this season once Gore slowed down. But I can't imagine having any takeaway of any kind from this game. And I'm not exactly a McDermott guy.
  5. I'm so happy that Darnold sucks and the Jets hired Gase. May that team forever be bad.
  6. Maybe in a month he'll get to play with Jack as a welcome back gift.
  7. You're both missing my point completely. I'm not looking for tremendous storytelling or depth of character. I'm looking for the big, dumb, entertaining action scenes to have sufficient quality to be entertaining. Demanding something be edited so that a coherent product emerges is simply asking for some baseline quality to the carnage. I'm not looking for logic or realism, I just need some level of competence.
  8. 6 Underground is among the worst movies I've seen in years. Reynolds was very good, but the movie itself was unbelievably bad. Even the action scenes, which should have been enough to make it at less entertaining, were horrid. One moment this car has no side mirror and a giant scratch down the whole side. Same car, next scene, perfect condition! It looks like it got edited by an undergrad who couldn't pass into to film.
  9. We're certainly not going to start with a trophy the year that @WildCard crawled out of the toilet! (I'm in favor, generally speaking)
  10. Said it before, I'll say it again: we traded a GM who couldn't evaluate defensemen for a GM who can't evaluate forwards.
  11. We got bamboozled. The issue isn't that he hasn't become a star at 21, it's that he hasn't shown anything. He looks like a dud in every phase of the game. Even young players who aren't ready typically show flashes. Mitts hasn't, which is why I think being down on him is justifiable. Pretty much. He might still be able to develop other ways to be effective, but it's not happening anytime soon. Unless he really starts to perform in Rochester this season I'll go into the summer hoping for a Jokiharju-style trade.
  12. ??? I feel pretty good after this one. It was fun, first of all. We had good Josh and bad Josh, good McDermott and bad McDermott, drama, and a few big plays. Our defense didn't play very well as a whole but we were right there at the end. In New England. I'd have preferred a win, of course, but we can absolutely win a playoff game against Houston.
  13. This was a bad game for the defense to not have its A game.
  14. I've always loved Josh Allen! What a freaking throw. Stood in, took a shot, and perfect placement.
  15. That final 2 minutes or so was the best game management of McDermott's career. Even if we hadn't scored, he maximized our chances. And kudos for being aggressive regardless.
  16. Hecht was a much more valuable player than Okposo is. Hecht could play anywhere in the middle of your roster and had center versatility. Okposo is strictly a 4th line winger. Not even close to the same.
  17. Have to believe Cooper gets re-signed, but if he hits the market, sign me the hell up. As far as Green, his recent injury run says he shouldn't be the only answer we bring in, but I did come across this stat: Signing Green and drafting a rookie in the 1st seems like a reasonable play to me.
  18. Two things. First, it's hard to look at those percentages in a vacuum without considering how good the defenses are and game flow. Buffalo, Baltimore, San Francisco, and Minnesota are four of the top 6 defenses by DVOA; Seattle is the worst at 14th. At least part of the reason they pass so little is they have leads. Second, it's not just the number of passes, it's what you do with them. Those 5 team ranks in passing offense DVOA: Seattle 2nd, San Francisco 7th, Minnesota 6th, Baltimore 1st, Buffalo...20th. Sandwiched between Chicago and Cleveland. The Bills are having a great season and I'm enjoying the ride despite my skepticism. However, they profile a lot closer to last year's Bears than to any top tier contender.
