  1. Pominville moved up to Skinner and Mitts. What in the world does Rodrigues have to do to get more ice time? Hey, goal!
  2. It's where he belongs; same spot Giroux and plenty of others captain the PP from. Not his fault 2 of the others on PP1 have been useless.
  3. Please throw a grenade into PP1. Move out Okposo and Risto for Skinner/Mitts and Dahlin. It's not like it'll get worse.
  4. We're getting better chances at evens than on the PP. Baby steps.
  5. Rob Ray doesn't want Hutton to put his team in a jackpot.
  6. Flagg and I are a Thompson to the AHL move away from being able to crow big time about the O'Reilly trade. He might not do it, but I've got a sling ready for when I hurt my arm patting myself on the back ?
  7. Maybe not, but their box score is way better than NHL dot com's.
  8. Weird. It's almost as if Berglund isn't very good when he's not playing on Stastny's wing.
  9. Or, teams play differently once there's a 2 goal lead/deficit. Leading teams sit back more to lock it down, trailing teams start taking more risks. Score effects are real and exist across coaches.
  10. It was what, just a few months ago that the team started slowly every game because O'Reilly was sad? Well he's gone, the problem is still there, so time to blame someone else's attitude. Instead of just saying maybe the team starts games slow because they're not as good as most other teams.
  11. I can't imagine anything less interesting than listening to post-game interviews. Anyway, to paraphrase Bill James, the one thing that all bad teams do is blame their best players for their problems.
  12. He's a point per game center. So maybe you were expecting more like Matthews? I guess you can be disappointed, but Eichel is hardly the problem with this team.
  13. Because the top end talent isn't notably improved.
  14. It's certainly not ideal, but I'll gladly take it over not getting wins at all.
  15. I do. He's not very good. He's a 3rd pairing Dman making top pairing money. Even when healthy, it's a problem.
  16. Just because they have a plan doesn't mean it's a good plan, or that they're capable of executing it.
  17. Simmah down. My point was I think there's a pretty common misconception that if someone has a rocket arm that means they'll be good at throwing it deep. Touch and the ability to throw to a spot are, of course, considerably more important. Anyway, I don't recall being sold a specific bill of goods about Allen's deep ball--I think that was a connection fans made all on their own.
  18. I think McDermott has a second in the running. I'm too lazy to look it up, but last year he said something like "It's about respecting the process of respecting the process."
  19. Were we led to believe this, or did people just mistakenly believe that arm strength determines the ability to effectively throw long?
  20. In my money league, I was on my way to an easy win. And then, Tyreek Hill and Stephen Gostkoswki decided to combine for 61 points. Sixty-one!!!! Now I need Green Bay's defense to implode and score less than 5. Unreal.
  21. It's unfathomable to me that an NFL regime could knowingly go into a season, in 2018, with such an obviously terrible situation on the offensive side of the ball. My suspicion, which is fairly horrifying to think about, is they actually thought they had some talent on offense. I don't think they're dim enough to mistake Kelvin Benjamin for Julio Jones, but I don't think it's crazy to think they thought he was at least a serviceable #1 option. And that's just one example.
  22. Of course, had they kept Tyrod, they wouldn't have McCarron's $2.1M in dead cap. Corey Coleman's $3M in dead cap also didn't happen until well after the Tyrod trade. And did we really have to pay Chris Ivory $2.5M in cap space to average 2.1 yards per attempt? Couldn't have gotten that for $300k in round 5? Anyway, I still don't have a problem with trading Tyrod for a 3rd; the issue was is and always will be whether this group has a freaking clue on offense, from player evaluation to gameplanning and play calling. "We think $10M in cap space and a 3rd round pick is more valuable than what Tyrod brings on the field" is totally fair, even if anyone doesn't ultimately agree. "Peterman, McCarron, and Allen is a good QB group to roll with, and the preseason made it okay to start Peterman, and even if bombs so hard he can't complete a game, we won't look for an alternative backup for an entire month"....is a sign of gross incompetence. The process around the entirety of the offense for 2 years now is the kind of thing that gets people fired. From trading away offensive weapons, to hiring an OC so obviously not a fit for Tyrod, to voluntarily starting Peterman twice and completely ignoring the offensive side of the ball that so obviously needed an infusion of talent...holy smokes. For all of the good McBeane has done on the defensive side of the ball, none of it currently matters because of how inept they've been on the offensive side of things. All of the cap space and draft picks in the world won't mean anything if they can't identify the right players to bring in and properly coach them once they're here.
  23. In this political climate, I don't think a constitutional amendment saying "terrorism is bad" could be ratified, let alone anything substantive. I'm serious. I think amending the constitution is fundamentally impossible today and for the foreseeable future. As to the histrionics about dictator Trump that followed....(I miss the wallbash emoticon)
