  1. I keep thinking of Tuch as sort of old but he's only 27 for this upcoming season. Sweet
  2. The gap between MacKinnon and Matthews is significant, and if you weight most recent performance heavily, Matthews was probably not even a top 10 NHLer in the 2022-23 season. Significant is the wrong word, I don't mean big gap, just distinct/measurable
  3. 68 always felt like the perfect number. When the Sabres hit the end of February and were looking good at like 60 games played, it felt insane to me that we still had to go through a quarter of the season yet INCREASING the number of games is lunacy I want athletes to look elite, not like they can barely walk straight gutting thru 15 injuries
  4. Pretty diifferent type of player
  5. I would kill for Crouse. I think he'd be our Tkachuk-lite
  6. I still sense a fairly strong difference from the two of them, to me it's clear Kyle is literally setting the bar above playoffs. Kevyn wants the ability to not call the season a failure if they miss This is pathetic, the board is fine and is reading fine like any other day, the only difference is you coming in and swearing at everyone
  7. Kyle's tone is "we aren't setting playoffs as our goal next year because we are better for that and should prepare for expectations as such by setting our goal as winning the cup" Different from Adams whose tone can read as "we aren't setting playoffs as the goal because what if injuries or blah blah"
  8. I remember the Cozens goal. I do my best to forget Staal ever happened
  9. When I watched them in game 3, there were a couple forwards that were obviously way worse than the rest. Maybe they were up from cinci
  10. Is it Matt Irwin? Lol
  11. Good goal. Let's get another sweep tomorrow and get this offseason started, i just wanna start using my seasons
  12. Thorny's office would be in Tolkien's wing, adjacent to he and Lewis.
  13. Eric Staal is playing in the SCF this year. Not the thing I would have done but not a big deal
  14. Operation: get KO and Z and Skinner (and Tage and dahlin and cozens and .......) to the ploffs
  15. I don't even count McNabb as an ex Sabre, I don't recall a single moment he wore the sweater. And I remember most sabre moments
  16. Most of the prized stats used by the biggest nerds use statistical techniques to control for who you are on the ice with and against, to isolate only YOUR impact on events. This isn't perfect but to answer your question they use every bit of math at their disposal to try to avoid that sort of thing. It obviously won't work out if your entire team is tank-bad, you can find many examples of bad stats from decent players on bad teams, but for most players on most teams you can be satisfied by cautiously adhering to the general conclusion of the stat, especially if you compare it to their teammates and watch some film to be sure. They are good tools and provide a bit more nuance than +/- though some people who trash +/- because it's the cool thing to do will also cite other stats that are identical
  17. It's been out at two bills drive as well. There are good websites to save gifts from though
  18. There exist lame things. In every instance this is true, there are individuals, MANY individuals even, who engage with these lame things and are not lame. The pattern is not ruined by this, the culture of the thing is still inherently lame. Weed culture is so far beyond lame that it is typical for me to come away from an engagement with someone that strongly leans into this culture with a desire to make sure I never interact with them again. When I come across people who lean into this culture online, on their subreddits etc., the lameness is concentrated into unbearable levels, which confirms what I need to know about the essence of the activity. I am merely describing this phenomenon, whether it makes people mad or not is irrelevant to its existence
  19. Right, the difference is that 5 years ago I never smelled either of these things, but now every time I go out it reeks like skunk somewhere. Like I said though, in some ways it is perfectly fitting and representative It shouldn't be too difficult to have this discussion- I'm aware how the world works, that some people use marijuana medicinally, don't abuse it, function "better" with it etc. "Not all X are Y!!" Yeah, we are adults here, I didn't think we had to say this out loud. It's completely irrelevant to me if this rich and successful guy smokes weed and that smart guy does too. I'm just talking about population level trends, patterns, distributions that are painfully obvious to anyone not lying to themselves, and have been for decades
  20. Just how we planned it --------------------------- Ignoring Thorny is lame. He's probably the funniest and smartest guy here
  21. I hope you understand that i'm just f***ing around on the internet. But I hope you can free yourself from all of that.
  22. It's about time we had someone capable of shaping discourse with an iron fist around here. People complaining about nfreeman's 'bias' do not know what is coming.
  23. See the graph. Trust the science! In all seriousness, I've read your posts for a long time, I have a good idea of your character based on what you've chosen to show us here. It's much better than mine. That doesn't mean you're free from the weed police
