  1. MUST WIN!! GO SABRES!! This is the game that ends the McDavid vs. John debate ... ... umm, nevermind.
  2. I believe they won those 2 cups because they added Ronnie and Ulf at the deadline in 1991. Super Mario was in and out of the lineup a lot in 1991 and 1992. Jagr and Recchi were both very good players, but rookies in 1991. I am not even sure if Recchi was not traded in 1992, if no he was soon after that. Fact check ... he was part of the Tochett trade. In 1992 they brought in Tochett and our Muel's uncle.
  3. I would make the arguement that they didn't for Mario either, but it was a race to the bottom against NJ, I believe. The Penguins were a shables and the owners did not want to pay anybody. Very close to bankruptcy then too, if not unofficially so. You are spot on that it took almost 10 years for the Penguins to get good again.
  4. I don't know if either really did what the Sabres did. Chicago, maybe. Pittsburgh I don't think so for either of their saviors. Anyway, I know the arguements are out there, but the point is tanking doesn't work far more often than it does. And when it doesn't it doesn't in spectacular fashion. Let's agree to not take this any further. It's all water over the bridge at this point. Let's just wallow in our misery.
  5. This has got to be undisputable proof that tanking is the worst possible idea ever. I expect 30 more years of wandering in the desert. Give or take a year, or two.
  6. I remember that day oh so well. A grown man nearing 40 in tears at the news. In just a few weeks it will mark 30 years since the passing of my beloved Freddie. And last May marked the 40 years since the passing of my beloved Bob.
  7. Not my favourite version of that great song. Topper was forced out by that time and was in a bad place with his heroin addiction. Terry is okay on drums and I do like his stage name. By this time the end was coming ... Joe had fixed his teeth and was taking long breaks from Mick and the song writing. I remember that tour it was in 1982 and they were opening for The Who on their farwell tour, which it ended up not being. Pete said after The Clash played this very concert that they were actually very good and he thought they would be the next big thing. I went to see The Clash in a small club in Toronto in 1979 and it was the best concert I had ever been to. I saw them again a few times along the way, including seeing then at the CNE Stadium in The Great Satan on this very tour. CNE Stadium has got to be the worst place for a concert ever. It was terrible, but I love The Clash. So, I went and was right down in front. I left after seeing The Clash and could hear The Who as I walked around wondering if this was the last time I would see The Clash live. It was. It's hard to believe that it's coming up to 20 years since Joe passed on. I suppose that's my complaint, but not really since I have my collection at the ready any time I want. Long live The Clash. The only band that ever mattered.
  8. Sorry. Not a good choice of word on my part.
  9. In Canada the pandemic time and govenment support programs enabled many workers in unskilled, but needed, positions to train and move on to other things. There is a shortage of workers here in Canada for those jobs and also in construction and other highly skilled work.
  10. It seems like everyone has Krebs being a solid 'C' in this league. A #1 ??, but I think a very good #2. Yes. Let's hope the Sabres don't screw this one up, eh.
  11. I will be thrilled if he becomes our Sharp and I agree with you that he likely will.
  12. He's tall and if he puts on some more muscle I think he could end up being a good top 6 winger, but I like that he is being played at 'C' now.
  13. So sorry for your loss. It's the only bad part of welcoming pets into the family. You are a good and kind man, as is the gentleman with the dog. I am big softy and your story brought a tear to my eye. As a Muslim, I am told in the Qur'an that all of God's creation worship Him in their own way and all return to Him when they pass on from this life. Gus is in a fantastic place now with no pain or suffering. That's not to say that he was not in a fantastic place during his time with you.
  14. Yeah, but he has the best nickname of any Sabre in the history of Sabres ... We can all thank @inkman for giving us ... Hiney-Stroka
  15. Thanks. What concerns you about Dahlin? He is developing slowly on a terrible team that is asking him to do things that he is not ready to do for 3+ seasons now. He is only 21.
  16. And Edmonton is on the cusp, eh? Hey, oh ... @PASabreFan
  17. He did say he heard grumblings. The obvious observation is mine.
  18. He did say that he heard rumours and grumblings, but obviously not from KA or anyone with the team. He went to the team and said if they were going that route he does not want to be part of it. This was in 2020 right after JBOT was fired. I just relistened to the first bit of the interview Your point on talent evaluation is spot on and hilarious. lol !!
  19. That's not what he said in the Freeman interview. He clearly states when management changed (can only mean JBOTS firing) he went to the team and told them if they were going to rebuild he was not up for that and said that maybe the team should move him to kick start that rebuild. Then he gave KA some credit for trying to build something by bringing in Hall and trading for Staal. When that didn't work KA went to John and told him of his plan and that is when John afirmed (SP?) he wanted to be traded. Of course, he was injured at that point and all that surgery nonsense had started. Anyway, I believe John said early on that he was not interested in yet another rebuild.
  20. That took longer than I expected for the old geezer. What in the blazes is that? And could you make it in a smaller font?
  21. Well, this GDT so far is the best one ever. Best music too.
