I would love to have the next Bill Hajt. The guy was rock solid.
-
I really don't see him as a Billy Hajt. Hajt would use his size and reach to calmly pick skaters up at the blue line and steer them wide and out of the play. He was almost impossible to get around. Pysyk is much more of a two-touch outlet passer. Get control of the puck with the first tough and pass it out with the second.
-
Pysyk is going to quietly chew up minutes, there will be periods you won't notice him out there because he's efficient. His upside is like a right handed Paul Martin. I have no worries at all about him. Altogether, he's already put in a full NHL season.

I'm not really expecting GMTM to go get Lerher and an already drafted prospect from Ottawa per se, it just seems to me GMTM would be open to this style of trade with any number of teams.

I have no idea what any of this means, but I'm glad I'll live to learn about it. -
I was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar, that much is true.

Anybody with a Norseman logo gets an attaboy from me. That bumper sticker was on my cousins green 74 Duster coup. -

How about the Beetlejuice pinstripes? -
The thing that fascinates me about this draft is the #21st pick. I think Murray will move up, but if he can't..........I could see Murray doing something like this.... #21 to Ottawa for G Robin Lehrner and RW Tobias Lindberg. In other words - trade the pick to get a speedier return on the development timeline - even if it was a previously drafted prospects that Murray knows well....* * Don't kill me for the simile - I just think Murray is liable to do something like this.

I can't keep up with the name changes, so I use the post count to tell me who is new. But maybe it is time to change the newbie avatar to Rene Robert. That gets a little cred from us oldtimers. -

I see the RedLine Report has Buffalo's #21 http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nhl/draft/2015/06/01/nhl-mock-draft-connor-mcdavid-jack-eichel-and-then/28302331/ "21. Buffalo (from NY Islanders) — Oliver Kylington. Buffalo GM Tim Murray once upon a time stepped up to draft small Swedish offensive dynamo Erik Karlsson at No. 15 overall for the Ottawa Senators. This kid is Karlsson-lite: all the same fabulous skating and skills, but none of Karlsson's head for the game. Given the Sabres' deep prospect stockpile, and owning multiple first-round picks, they can afford to gamble on a potential difference-maker." Hmmmm?

Nice to see that Darcy took care of him with a scouting job.

Gil was a beautiful skater, always in control. Extremely strong on his skates (I often think it is forgotten how strong he was). I never thought of him as the fastest skater north south, but laterally there was nobody faster, he'd just walk around defenders. The great thing about him was he always had his head up, and he was always patient on the puck. You couldn't attack him as a defender so he'd just hold the puck and wait for the play to develop. It was amazing sometimes, he'd have the puck, and everyone on the ice and in the stands would just freeze for a second or more (or so it seemed), he could leave an entire team flatfooted.

I seem to remember Fasching at the 2013. Although Buffalo passed on him in the draft.

Sounds great. At 21 you can get a permit in Texas for concealed carry. The same age you can legally drink. What could go wrong?
-
I don't think that was it. IIRC......Sabres started the ECF in 06 with all defensemen but Kalinen. (broken ankle...I seem to remember bad ice). Teppo had a hip flexor, Tallinder broke his arm (on a weird play on the side boards IIR), McKee got a staff infection. All kind of freaky really. Carolina weren't dumping, they were playing the Left Wing Lock. It was a heavy forecheck, but not much crash.
