  1. Heck I think a reporter should be able to ask anything he wants. But if this is all a case of faulty reported speech. Mike Harrington should own up. Donate your coat to charity, Mike. Signed, Bozo the X PS. I still think it is a fart in a mitten - The goalie is upset with the team agitator. There is an Aesop fable in here somewhere... The elephant and the rat. Moral: Don't ____________ with a ______________ ________________ after a ____________ . I'm just not sure what the blanks are.
  2. I'm zen, man. Why would anybody listen to a goalie anyway? I'm old school. The surprising thing about Miller is most of his answers are sane and he's never referring to the aliens, laser beams, and nightly visitations for planet Xeron with information about human medical experiments like other rubber catching elephants. Don't be fooled by anything he says. He's still a goalie.
  3. Next sort for 60+ starts and see how many names reappear on that list from year to year. Never-mind. The idea that Ryan Miller is the one that is polarizing Sabre fans is nuts. He's good. He's not Hasek. He won't be here forever so that is good news if you think he's incompetent. In my opinion it is a luxury to not have to find a starting goaltender every year. Look at Toronto.....Belfour, Aubin, Racroft Pogge, Toskala, Joseph, Gustofson, Reimer, etc... = 9 year playoff drought . Goaltenders that can start 60-70 games a year on year don't grow on trees. Carry on.
  4. What a fart in a mitten this thing is. Miller is asked to respond to this: "Patty Kaleta says he needs to find out from the players if he's wanted on the team." Miller says in response to that: "He's being dramatic and needs to grow up" That's the story I guess.
  5. Myers will be okay. He's had to play himself into shape. He wasn't in shape to start the season because of that ankle. Big, out of shape guys generally look silly next to NHL forwards.
  6. Vancouver asking about OTT....hmmmm.... "I’m also told the Canucks checked in with the Buffalo Sabres recently. Steve Ott would be a perfect fit as the No. 3 center in Vancouver, and the Canucks had conversations with theDallas Stars last season about him. But at this point, it doesn’t appear as though the Sabres are making Ott available." from Pierre Lebrun" http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/id/22698/rumblings-interest-in-jarome-iginla I wonder what OTTER is worth, we forget he's going into a contract year too.
  7. Don't jinx the guy. The Leafs seem to be right on time for their seasonally scheduled slide. They are like the swallows at Capistrano.
  8. In the Sabres Practice System the people are represented by two separate, yet equally important groups - Chz's dog and Razor.
  9. Beating Philly was a real long-shot. But yes....they had more experience at center in 2011. And they had two legit checking lines in Neidermeyer Grier and Hecht, Mccormick, Goose and Kaleta. (any combo) They were even playing center-less hockey even then. Once Mike Richards tattered Connolly it was pretty much over for game 7. Brad Boyes helped shore up a weak center line-up. Ryan Miller really was great in that series. Oh and Stafford could score now and then too. :)
  10. We just disagree. None of these guys are comfortable. They all probably feel like they are fighting for their careers about now. It looks like a hot mess. But it is independent of effort.
  11. Your narrative works if you think the team isn't trying. I think the team is trying like hell. I think they are trying so hard they look frozen, tight. But even these boys at their best, especially at forward, aren't going to match with the better lines in the league. It has nothing to do with leadership. This is a Calvary up against Mechanized Artillery. (There is only 1 guy out of all the forwards that isn't better suited to play wing, that's Hodsgon a true center -----(except maybe Grigorenko - he's just not ready for the NHL)
  12. The problem is LOFT - Lack of ###### talent  Although - I think the problem has been at center. The best centers anchor lines, Pittsburgh Crosby, Malkin Chicago Toews, Bolland St. Louis Berglund, Backes Anahiem Getzlaf, Holland, Koivu Carolina Staal, Staal Boston Kreiji, Bergeron, Peverly Buffalo ________, Hodgson, __Junior Player_____ , ___(AHL player to be named later)________ Our highest paid players are wings....there is a bit of a structural problem here, Darcy. And absolutely no chance of rolling 4 lines like Lindy loved to do until 2009. I think Darcy has been making the right moves to bolster center, Grigorenko, Hodgson, Girgenson........but this souffle will a few years to set without some bold help of adding a solid center. That's why the idea of O'Reilly was so intriguing.
  13. I wonder if they move Soupy. You know....he's really their best player. He hasn't lost a step.
  14. So, 162,278? Man, I wasn't even close.
  15. Pi day, humph. I always wanted to start a fraternity in college and name it ROMAN FRATERNITY So I could wear shirts that said: ROMAN FRATERNITY
  16. I'm the opposite, I'd have a tough time initially with Lavi, though I would like to have a team with a heavy fore-check. Torts I would love. He'd be very entertaining. Plus I have a soft spot for Torts from his Rochester days.
  17. It's hard to explain why Luke is still in the organization. You can't worry about organizational depth when you are in the bottom 10%
  18. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it. Doug Maclean works with Kypreos - Doug Maclean is still a friend of Lindy - People are out of work - phone calls get made....... There could be some inside buzz.
  19. I was bummed when he was still available in the 2nd round with the Boyes pick we couldn't use. Then I was delighted when he fell all the way to the third. You never know how these kids will look as pros....but that's what makes draft day fun.
  20. Quit on their coach?
  21. Porter will clear waivers. Usually teams don't have roster spot for the 15th forward on a 27th place team.
  22. Good stuff. Aside.... I don't think Torts was wrong to be angry with his team. Its hard to watch your players make decisions slower than Buffalo. He knows Buffalo is making decisions at terrapin-like speed. The only guy out there that looks like he's making quick decisions all the time is Flynn. I can't blame Rolston for playing him. He's about the only one that seems to be making decisions quick enough to carry play.
  23. I'm glad I didn't go last night. I can't get over the booing. I'll say it....Buffalo fans can really suck. If you're not going to have fun, give your tickets to a kid. Seriously, kids get it. I never see kids booing their team. I almost never boo. Why? Because some kid might be at his first game. There is still some magic in that experience. Why ruin it.
  24. Corsi numbers tell a lot. Especially how the player is being used. Of course in years to come you could have new stats that are shaping the game...... I suggest Entries into zone, assist on entry, shots in slot, shots from point, shift without shot against, And for goalies.....rebounds to slot, saves on high percentage shots, un-screened goals against, screened goals against Somebody will be tracking these in the future.
