  1. Battista is often in the arena when the Sabres lose. Coincidence?
  2. 2 + 2 = pineapples  Murray said, and I paraphrase: "Every GM I talked to stressed the need for direct conversations with the owner" That equals "pet the bunny" Seems pretty plain to me that Murray was talking about just that. Direct (rather than indirect) conversations with ownership.
  3. He said it the day after Lafontaine left. Do the math. Every GM talks to the owner. Murray was going to get it right from the start. He wasn't going to report to Patty.
  4. If I'm his agent there is no way I'm letting him come to Buffalo. Very few players in the league are truly marketable. You don't move a marketable athlete to Buffalo so he can do D'Lacey Ford commercials.
  5. If Ekblad is there at 2 and Buffalo passes on him I would be very surprised.
  6. Checking my Scrabble dictionary......and man, it is right there. Well done.
  7. Buffalo is to America what Da Lat is to Vietnam. Word.
  8. That wasn't about Pegula. That was about every GM giving him a universal truth. The reason Murray said was probably because it was his reason for cutting Lafontaine out of a mediated dialogue with the owner.
  9. Buffalo can't compete with Chicago for nightlife. But you aren't going to spend 90 minutes in traffic every time you leave the house either.
  10. Okay. My mistake. So he can take the two year and be a UFA. That's still not a bad deal.
  11. I think so. I like an active D myself. It's one of the things I enjoyed most about Ruff's tenure - the D joining the play, and often entering the O zone with the puck. I love the lanes it opens.
  12. If I'm O'Reilly, I take the arbitration on a 1 year and become a UFA in 12 months.
  13. I think the most interesting part of that interview is Murray telling an 18 year old kid that if he picks him he wants him joining the rush and getting up ice. Most rookies are asked to play safe and learn. Murray is interested in him getting up ice and making mistakes. I don't think Ekblad is there at 2, but if he's there take him.
  14. So....not Cramergesic? (old locker room trick -- it really lifts those bags)
  15. Interesting, I still kind of look at Pouliot as the #4 pick that didn't pan. He needs a more consistent game IMO. Somebody will overpay him though.
  16. Ott is really best at the wing, though he can take a face-off. Ott is work and hustle, but his true talent is really wasted in Buffalo, which is getting under the skin of teams. I don't mind if he gets added.
  17. Okay ...... this is the shortlist UFA plan Moulson, Callahan, Brian Boyle - this guys are all in for a payday. Down this list: Penner is a worth a look too. I really wonder if Ted Nolan could light a fire under Benoit Pouliot, but I wouldn't break the bank to find out.
  18. I always thought Spezza wanted to be in TO.
  19. "The-Let's-Do-a Line"
  20. There is nobody on the roster that should not be in trade conversations - even Zemgus.
  21. I cheer this one.
  22. right. it is possible then. Isn't Spezza from Oakville or Missasauga? I'm not sure he's the right player for the Sabres at this age, but if Buffalo isn't on the no go list, at least it may be possible.
  23. I'd be on board with Callahan. I don't think he's going to put up great numbers (especially on the Sabres) but I think he's the player you want younger players to model their game after. I'm fine overpaying for him. Him or the thrilling play of Matt D'Agostini? :P Also I'm not against signing a few guys that might have trade value at the deadline. Dustin Penner, maybe?
  24. Okay, I hope Murray doesn't offer Ottawa the #2 pick then.
