  1. I thought most of you guys been pretty awesome this past two  years, there has been some bitching and moaning at it from time to time but not that bad.

But also was to expected the way this team has been playing and everyone has their own favourite player sucking it up

  2. I tend to agree. Their best years are behind them and even in their best years they couldn't get over the hump.

I should add that in the following post old inkoslav may have misunderstood my usage of the word hump.

I actually meant they couldn't win the big one.

I agree about marleau, but not about Thornton, without him their possesion numbers just plain suck.

If they want to ditch him i'd be glad taking him on board in the offseason.

  3. Well he is scoring, at the AHL level which is where he belongs.

I think he means the Kucherov - Johnson - Namestnikov line

    Kucherov - Johnson - Palat

And they really didn't have much better numbers in their first year than grigs except for johnson.

Thats not the top line but Johnson and Kucherov were doing far better than Grigo at the same point.  And none had hustle issues, just production.

You're right tho, he belongs in wtih the amerks

I dissagree here, that is their top line in tampa.  Its also what makes them so great, they pushed stamkos back to a 2nd line role.

  4. Yea same here, and some are having a big impact with roughly same amount of mins that 25 gets when he's up.

I'm 50/50 on whether he'll make it, I don't see that burn to succeed.

But you're right he shouldve been in Roch

The 1st line of tampa that online emerged last year, was a combined 22 yrs old and spend 4 seasons in the AHL, i think we can give grigorenko two more years.

  5. This has been Paul Hamilton's take all season and I screamed at my radio every time. Girgensons and Larsson can easily play wing on any line. Most organizations slide guys from center to wing when they have a glut of centers. I'm not sure why this isn't obvious to Hamilton.

Well yeah if you do slide grigorenko into the line up, girgensons and larsson are more easier to move to the wing for sure.

Grigorenko is just a more natural center than those guys, not saying he is better than them, but he is more clearly a center and less moveable to the wing.

  6. There's basically no way to wait for the remaining books to see what happens.  GRRM has said Book 6 isn't coming out this year, and he takes longer with each book.  (ADWD came out in 2011.)  The TV show is going to blow by the books starting this year and I doubt anyone will be able to avoid spoilers for the next 10 years waiting for the last two books.  And let's face it, he probably needs 3 books to wrap this thing up from where it is at the end of ADWD.

It's not even slowness at this point.  He says he can only write from his home, but then says he's not home a lot because he gets invitations to appear all over the world now that the show is such a phenomenon.  I want the guy to be able to enjoy his success but the completion of his life's work is now taking a back seat to free vacations.  You'd think he'd want to bear down and finish the story.

I'm pretty sure he has already told the producers how the story should end incase something happens to him.

NY brewery Ommegang is going to make a GOT beer, called three-eyed-raven.

Didn't know Duvel - moortgat the 3rd largest belgian brewery owned ommegang, explains why you guys like it :P

Its going to be brewed with belgian yeast to.  Should be a good dark fruity beer :D

  8. I'm interested to see if we get Roy, I wanna know if Heimdall's clip from some poster elsewhere with inside info is really correct  :D

I'm still a fan of grigorenko, but have little hope of him remaining in buffalo , I think he will most likely be traded for a top 6 asset.

  9. I always wondered how much of that late season miracle run business was Lindy.

I think it's cool that Larsson looks good. Maybe he's ready. Consistency will be the next step if GMTM keeps him around.

Amazing what happens when you make a player earn his minutes.

larsson is hurting the tank, we need to send him back down again and call up JST to play first line minutes.

    your move now edmonton :p

Knowing that the team was stripping away the last vestiges of the old core while waiting for prospects to mature, we all had to adjust our expectations. Some who would have been content with progress from the young guys and flashes from the farm hands feel betrayed when those flashes come more frequently in the waning moments of the season when they may have come earlier. Those that desired a palatable on ice product were betrayed from the outset. Frustration boils over. But to think that anything but talent will change the long term outlook of the franchise is a strawman at best. I don't blame TM or TN for the situation. I accept it for what it is. I won't demonize or martyr either. The purge is done. The build is under way. Only time will tell if it was successful. I for one think we will have the talent to be a consistently contending team in the near future. I also believe you build a winning culture by winning. A lot.

I for one believe, Mceichel or not, we already have that talent, but landing #1 or #2 in the draft will speed that up by atleast a year for sure.

  10. I wonder what it would Take to get them to wear Tokyo Katana jerseys as the thirds.

    That would be funny.

Also if i find it Mckee tweeted a better third jersey created by one of his friends when this one came out. I liked that one alot.

  11. I really don't understand this. I have no problem with Nolan's demand for gritty effort. I like it.

And I don't blame Nolan for the Sabres woes. He is a mediocre coach working with a poor roster.

    My concerns are this:

    * Too many players are underachieving under Nolan: my prime examples are Moulson, Gionta, Stewart, Hodgson — lesser examples are Benny and the Mess.

    * With the exception of Zemgus, none of our young guys are improving (Risto, Zadorov, Foligno) or being put in a position to succeed (Grigorenko, Reinhart, Larsson)

    * His player usage baffles me at times (Flynn, Meszaros, Gionta on the PP over Zadorov, Grigorenko, Hodgson? Hell it took him a half-year to try Stewart in front of the net). I see Hodgson out there against the Stamkos line. I see Mitchell out there with our goalie pulled.

    * His double standards are obvious. He rewards plumbers like Flynn and Mitchell for "effort" while ignoring their (lack of) results. It's a sin if you sit back and watch a play develop, but it's OK to be not good enough, just as long as you "compete."

    * In the same vein, he sticks with veterans (Meszaros, Moulson) no matter how poorly they play and benches kids (Grigorenko, Larsson, Zadorov) at their first error.

    * We've been outshot drastically virtually every single game and have shown no signs of adjusting our style. Ted's message is simply work harder.

Any one of these things can be justified in isolation, but overall it's a troubling picture.

I think Ted is a one-dimensional coach who can only relate to one kind of player. If we give him Hasek in goal and a team of Girgensons, he could challenge for the cup.

But I don't think we are rebuilding on that template.

We need a coach who is going to take our young core and maximize their potential.

From what I've seen of Teddy this year, his is not the formula for making it happen and he has shown no signs of adapting his style.

Glad im not alone in this :D
