  1. I am a big Z fan and think going back to juniors is a waste. However he hasn't done enough to get a spot here and these guys aren't giving anything to anyone so back he goes. He will be back.

    Leaner

    Meaner

And you guys better watch out then. I expected him to play his way on. I'm not shattered that it doesn't happen but disappointed in that he has Grigo's attitude from last year seemingly. Or he's sulking knowing that he was not going to be on the big club and just said f it. I'm eating until next season then.

Honestly as a season ticket holder I just need to say that I am happy as hot ###### that Matt Ellis is not part of my ticket package!!

Oh and p.s. TrueBlue Brayden while he did throw a few big hits never, ever impressed me with puck handling ability so please don't count me among his legion of fans.

Or his skating ability which I have made mention of in the past.

Lets just scratch that, Grigorenko wasn't physically ready, had nothing to do with attitude.

So when does the actualy first game of the season start ?

  2. I don't think that GMTM is handling our young players any different than Darcy was. If Big Z is sent down to London for a 3rd year that will be an absolute joke. I don't care if he is getting 30 minutes a game, he needs to develop in Buffalo. Also I thought armia was suppose to be our big winger, How many years will they want to keep him in Rochester. This is the year to have all of our young players in Buffalo, give them one year to mend with each other, even if we are bad who cares. Get a great draft pick and go big in 2015-2016

Big Z isn't performing well, right now he is our 8th best D (and im still being polite, even bagnall outperformed on him) so he goes down.

Armia only spend one year in the AHL, well half a year seeing he was injured.

  3. For the time being, you have to count Larsson as well, I don't think he can be sent down until he's healthy again, right?

Yeah i didn't include the injuries , because they don't count against a 23 man roster.

I assume Dalpe/mitchell will be gone when kaleta shows up.

Also wouldn't surprise me if they keep Reinhart longer around the big team and scratch him a few times.

  4. Guess this will be our opening line up.

    Gorges - Myers

    Ristolainen-Benoit

    Mezaros-McCabe

    Weber

    Hodgson-Grigorenko-Stewart

    Moulson-Ennis-Stafford

    Foligno- Reinhart - Gionta

    Deslauriers-Girgensons-Mcormick

    Dalpe/mitchell

    Flynn

    Enroth

    Neuvirth

  5. Couple of thoughts on this:

    1. I don't think Griggy or the team would be well served by him playing on the 4th line with a couple of bangers or by being the 13th forward and getting healthy-scratched frequently -- so really IMHO the question is whether he is one of the top 9 forwards.

    Moulson-Ennis-Stafford

    Hodgson-Zemgus-Stewart

    Gionta

...are all definitely ahead of Griggy.

Based on Teddy's comments over time, I think Foligno will have one of the other 2 spots on the 3rd line.

And McCormick, Kaleta and Mitchell are pretty much locks for 3 of the bottom 4 forward spots (assuming they keep 13 forwards).

That leaves Griggy, Larsson, Deslauriers and Reinhart fighting it out for the last 2 spots on that 3rd line (although Larsson and Delsauriers can both flex down to the 4th line).

So, it will likely come down to whether Reinhart stays up, whether Teddy trusts Larsson and Deslauriers more than he does Griggy, and whether Teddy and TM would rather have Griggy spend some time in the AHL before bringing him to the NHL.

    2. The other issue about keeping the best forwards on October 8 is that the Sabres are, I think, more focused on what will be best for the team for the 5 years starting in 2015-2016 than they are on this year. It's quite possible that they think that both the team and Griggy will be better served by keeping him in the AHL this year.

The biggest issue here is, you see Zemgus as a 2C ...

  6. Whoa. The guy has played 1 NHL preseason game at a level higher than that of "corpse." He hasn't proven, or earned, anything, especially as regards being a good 2-way player.

And Griggy didn't get sent back to juniors for being physically immature. He got sent back because he was completely useless in an NHL game.

Everyone's got to earn it. If he does -- great. But he hasn't come close to doing so yet.

I dissagree, he has come close to earning a shot. But Nolan and murray will make the right call on this one im sure.

  7. That's interesting, is this case is "best" most popular or actually "best"? For example, in the US, Miller Lite is probably the most popular but not many of us would consider it the best. I've had various Lindemans before (the cherry mixed with stout is pretty good, btw) but I never really considered them "good" lambic. They're almost wine-coolers (I think in the UK those are referred to as alco-pops in case the term isn't familar). Good for a fancy way to get girls who don't like beer tipsy, though that's long in the past for me.

Well that depends, some like it more sweeter and go for other brands, i think Lindemans is sweet enough. But i can drink around 12 of those easy.

  8. How many of you think he'll make the sabres as 2C this year?

I read on many forums they want him to "earn" his spot in the AHL first, but if he keeps playing like last night this doesn't make sense to me.

He is physically mature, responsible in his own zone and might mesh with Hodgson (who really needs someone) offensively.

Next to Ristolainen, he is now for me one of the prime candidates to actually make it.

And for me he has earned it, he has been positive coming into camp, showed he wanted to make it by working out during summer, besides all the bad press he has gotten.

Being advertised for 2 yrs as "the russian floater" , "prime KHL candidate" and a bust, it takes great mentality to overcome that. To me that even screams future leadership material.

I also read many don't want Reinhart to go back to juniors, reason i bring this up is. Reinhart isn't physically ready for NHL, and i don't want thim to become a concussion case.

Also if i was Grigorenko, I'd be pretty pissed they would give Samson playing time, while he got send back to juniors because of not being physically mature.

  9. Lets make this clear, Grigorenko will never be in the mix for 3rd line centre.

80-25-19 looked good together, and If Mikhail makes it with the big club it will be as a 2C.

Oh and yes i thought he did very well defensively, a bit dissapointed on that with hodgson. Especially with the phil kessel goal.

Grigs picking up the slack from hodgson and trying to cover bozak.

You might say hell it was mikhails man, but hodgson and grigs switched positions alot. <--- wich i actually liked alot.

Reinhart will get his 9 games, but likely in between foligno and gionta then.

Still have a feeling they'll send Grigs to the AHL though, but like i said before. If he keeps this up he won't stay there long.

  10. What I look forward most to is next season, most of our prospects are a year away from breaking out. Include a 2015 top 5 pick to that mix and the 2015-2016 is going to be fun.

Meanwhile for this season, i think the guys will lay the groundwork by becoming a hardworking, hardhitting team again.
