I'm not opposed to 16 hour shifts, but when I stay up until 6 am the night before because I'm only expecting 8 hours and then I'm told right before I leave that they need me for an additional 8 hours, shattering my dinner plans with my girlfriend... I get salty.

I'm a direct support provider for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Sometimes, all I do in a day is have several pillow fights.

Wow. Rough stuff for everyone. :( I'm thinking about you guys and your loved ones. My useless supervisor had me pull a surprise double shift last night. So instead of having to work 8 hours on very little sleep I had to work 16 hours, go home, sleep, and come right back to work I've only been at this house for 1 month and I already feel so much more relied upon than most of the other employees. I'm not even technically qualified for half the stuff they expect me to do on a day to day basis. Whatevs. At least money.

After freeman's last ban of PA and now this... The only thing that really seems to be labelled as "over the line" is calling republicans racist. The last couple pages of the politics thread were really good, too. First time I've enjoyed reading politics on this board for a long time.

Red Hot Chili Peppers random aside: Flea always talked a lot about how he had to learn that less is more when it comes to bass lines. I think he was right to a point. I think RHCP got away from what I liked so much about them. By The Way is a beautiful album that worked perfectly with Flea's more reserved style. But Stadium Arcadium, I'm With You, and whatever their new album is called has too much guitar driven stuff and not enough FUNKY BASSSSS. I think flashy bass driven music is a lot more my taste, and it needs to be paired with a guitarist that adds mostly texture. This is why Dave Navarro was the best guitarist for RHCP. The perfect Yang to Flea's Ying.

I like Rush, but I've never been like INTO Rush (don't hurt me!). I like Geddy Lee a lot though.

Hehehehe. I just wish they let him do more stuff! I think bass is underutilized in pretty much every kind of music.

I feel like part of that is Zep's fault for having him double JP's parts wayyy too often. I honestly think we could've gotten better Zep bass parts if they just let JPJ improvise every recording session.

I love JP's herky-jerky style of guitar. It works so well over JPJ's super solid foundation. It also serves as a parallel in some ways with Plant's voice. But George Harrison will always be my favorite guitarist. It wasn't his technical skill, it was his taste. Most of my favorite Beatles songs are Georges. His guitar runs in Fixing a Hole (a Paul) are incredible, and I think Something is probably my favorite song of all time (thanks in no small part to Paul's bass line). The Beatles might play not play technically difficult music, but such elegant simplicity is not an uncomplicated feat. I feel like that's why I like Cake more and more and more as time goes on. Everything is so deliberate and controlled. For those saying they never got into Zep or Zep isn't great: You don't even know what edge is. Or jamming.

Musically, I'm not sure. Zeppelin's thing was playing folk/blues/rock and taking every song up to 11 at some point, and I love them for it. I think the Beatles were much more unique, incredible, and controlled in their approach to writing music. There's really nothing else like it.

Hillary's not anywhere near an ideal cantidate for me, but "flip a coin to choose a party" is severely downplaying how much of a disaster Trump would be. Hillary is more status quo, and it sucks that keeping the status quo is the best option in this election. I've grown to hate the "they're both awful" stuff.

Can't blame you there. I often feel that alcohol is not worth the gastrointestinal unpleasantness. At the meet up, though? I'm gonna get drunk. How else am I supposed to put up with True?
