Our 2nd and 3rd line prospects are awesome. Baptiste, Compher, Fasching, Larsson, Carrier, Bailey, Hurley, and Deslauriers. Tim Murray brought in a healthy balance of power forward prospects and didn't wait to do it. I also think Baptiste, Compher, and Hurley all have shots at developing into 1st liners.

When I read what JoeBa said, it just sounded to me like somebody trying to get the fans focused on the future, or maybe even simpler, him getting excited himself. He named all of our bets defensive prospects, and Ruhwedel because he was actually on the team last night. Him saying that it was the "future-look" Sabres doesn't read to me as somebody asserting their important hockey opinion. -
I'm fine with the franchise being a joke for the draft pick, but no... please not this.

I'd hire Robviously as our image/design guy. I'd also bring him into the war room if we were ever feeling too optimistic about the team. And Liger is our head scout. -
Flushing a prospect down the toilet? Why? If he doesn't make the show then he's gone. Why would they ever need to flush him before then? :blink:

I have not once noticed his physical play, and he never pinches. Ever. It's frustrating.

Why are they changing it again? Because a lot of GMs want shots at the top guys? What a joke. Let's just change the lottery system every year. The year after next lets give the 1st overall pick to the team that wins the cup.

There is a significant talent gap between Reinhart/Bennett and Tuch/Virtanen. We need to be patient with the rebuild. We are stocked to the gills with 2nd and 3rd line prospects, not to mention two good young 3rd liners on the roster already. The most pressing need is 1st line forwards. One of the two Sams likely nets you a 1st liner, whereas the 8-12 group that we have been stuck in for years will only yield more likely 2nd and 3rd liners. An 8th and 27th pick are small beans compared to the picks we acquired over the tear down of the core. Now that we are finally getting a top 3 pick it would be foolish to throw it away for assets that we already have in spades.

I agree that they need to change their approach but picking high helps every single approach. There's no reason to throw it away if you have it.

Bushee is meh. Steady for an ECHLer but has no concept of agression whatsoever. The Jackals are getting reaped this year. Doesn't really bother me much.

Reading this and your posts in the draft thread make it clear that we value a top 2 draft pick very differently. Top picks almost never get moved by GMs because they are so valuable. A potentially elite talent under good contracts for the next 8 years or so. You're right that Myers would likely be involved in any Tavares deal, good call. The Islanders would also want offense back from a Tavares, presumably, hence Ennis/Hodgson.
