  1. Must admit at one time I thought Torts was the answer...but have changed my mind big time and at this point think DG has done a splendid job with what he has to work with. Boston brought their absolute best "A" game and while the goaltending was obviously pretty bad the team itself did not embarrass itself whatsoever. Heck we even tried to stand up to them at times (without bringing up a goon). I do think that at this point we need stability desperately and retaining DG and instead concentrating on getting KA to move some bodies in to replace some that are clearly replaceable (JSG's) and getting two NHL goalies who do not get hurt every couple games will go a long way towards the team being much more competitive next season. Heck DG made this team competitive almost overnight with next to no practice time and missing key pieces (like a NHL goalie for starters). The team clearly believes and trusts DG and enjoy playing for him and give it their all...that is all one can ask. Most importantly he is good with young players and that is essential for this team moving forward as we do have seemingly a heck of a bunch of good young players...
  2. There is for sure no more fear with guys like Wilson and Marchand... they do as they please now. Anyways cannot believe McDavid has 91 points in only 50 games (31 goals 60 assist). Absolutely incredible display! Of course they are playing in the weak Northern Division but still amazing. he has 6 games to get 9 points to hit 100 in only 56 games! I say he does it...they play Vancouver for the next 3 games, then Montreal for 2 before one last game versus Vancouver. Neither Van or Mont great defensively so Connor should rack up points no problem... Meanwhile Austin Mathews has scored 39 goals in 48 games...Leafs only have 4 games left so no chance for 50 but still amazing as well.
  3. No doubt the Isles will be really fired up for this one...I fear we'll lose then it will be back to negative doom & gloom on here. Having said that I hope we win again! Winning sure beats losing...
  4. Why do we have two threads both saying we need to trade Sam? And why are we so quick to want to trade our best player consistently year after year, who on a team that seems to attract injury problems misses very little time and at this point could actually be given the "C"? Oh I forgot we also traded ROR Kane Lehner and a pile of other guys that are doing fine elsewhere. Yeah lets trade him for basically nothing as we did with so many others before him... and you trust this team to get fair return for him (or Jack if and when they trade him too)?...
  5. NHL's worst contracts by team...interesting stuff https://thehockeywriters.com/every-nhl-teams-worst-contract/?fbclid=IwAR0UaCkrB3DG_pYneDJZJAqo6bkeFLDUrLIn13Gll52W9eFRxKHJ9M_pd24 no surprise ours is the Skinner deal of course. What this do es show is that we are not the only idiots giving absolutely absurd contracts out...there are some contracts here that are beyond mind-boggling. Philly alone have some really bad deals with Hayes being at the forefront. And they forgot Letang on Pittsburg who is at "only" $7.25Mil for another 4 long years! I also see Corey Perry at a absurd $8.25mil!!! The list goes on and on...heck we are not anywhere near as bad as many other teams to be honest (in fact we will be sitting pretty good for next year and if KO retires we'll be even better)
  6. does anybody really think they would or can be any better under another coach? I mean I get that next year a new coach will start fresh with a (hopefully) healthy Jack and (hopefully) 2 NHL goalies and (hopefully) a re-signed McCabe and maybe some new faces like (hopefully) some bangers (and even one fighter) on the 4th line and (hopefully) lose Eakin Bjork Caggiula Rieder (I love Oko but hopefully he will retire). With these changes the new coach will look great no doubt but does DG not deserve a shot with this new improved lineup?
  7. Amazing and touching video... https://www.facebook.com/GinoHardHockey/videos/303606057807567
  8. I totally agree...Boston clearly brought their "A" game and while we were clearly out-muscled and out-talented, we were competitive and are not far removed from being able to compete with the B's. Absolutely playing with a healthy Jack and a healthy McCabe and with someone anyone who is a actual NHL goalie (whether that be Linus or whoever) will alone make a huge difference. We can further improve greatly if getting Skinner back with a healthy jack and if he (Skinner) can rebound back to where he was when he last played with jack and score even a modest 20 to 25 goals that too will help immenesly. Then you get better by subtraction by losing a bunch of just guys like Reider Caggiula Bjork Eakin and even Sheahan and add a healthy Girgs along with some bigger bangers on the 4th line and even maybe veteran ;leadership like say Ryan Getzlaf and this team will improve significantly. All is not doom & gloom with DG and his way of letting this team play to their abilities and not to what he wants as Ralphie did
  9. it is wild looking at all the players with NMC that mus be protected which in turn leaves many teams with tough decisions about who to protect and who to leave unprotected... Here is the full of list of players with applicable no-movement clauses for the Seattle expansion draft (**-denotes injured player likely to be exempted) Anaheim (1): **-Ryan Kesler Arizona (2): Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Phil Kessel Boston (3): Patrice Bergeron, Charlie Coyle, Brad Marchand Buffalo (1): Jeff Skinner Carolina (1): Jordan Staal Calgary (2): Milan Lucic, Jacob Markstrom Chicago (4): Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Jonathan Toews Colorado (1): Erik Johnson Dallas (4): Jamie Benn, Ben Bishop, Alexander Radulov, Tyler Seguin Florida (3): Sergei Bobrovsky, Jonathan Huberdeau, Keith Yandle Los Angeles (1): Drew Doughty Minnesota (5): Jonas Brodin, Zach Parise, Jared Spurgeon, Ryan Suter, Mats Zuccarello Montreal (3): Brendan Gallagher, Jeff Petry, Carey Price Nashville (1): Roman Josi N.Y. 10. WELL SAID...totally agree and I also love what someone else mentioned that DG has the team ready every game...use to hate how it seemed the team was not ready to play as we so often heard. A healthy Jack McCabe Linus (or at least two NHL goalies for next season) and clear out that brutal 4th line and get Gergs back and we should see a huge differnce
  11. ROR was rejuevenated going to the Loo and Hall now with the B's...wonder if Skinner would do the same if he went somewhere else? Totally agree though sure is annoying reading how great Hal is doing. I was kinda glad for ROR but not in the least for Hall.
  12. Poor Joe needs money I guess... https://ca.yahoo.com/sports/news/maple-leafs-joe-thornton-lists-gorgeous-san-jose-luxury-home-for-9500000-163541922.html
  13. This is pretty scary...good read however https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/nhl-wild-prospect-marco-rossi-details-terrifying-battle-with-covid-19-complications-004336273.html
  14. Would like to see us add a player of some use who can also fight when needed...I love Dylan but he should not be the only one fighting. We need him ON the ice not off! We need someone just like this... https://www.facebook.com/BuffaloSabresCupCrazy2014/photos/gm.1426211811047350/3854222444614014/
  15. Lindy must be losing his marbles over there in NJ...hell he use to lose his mind a ton here when we were good!
  16. it is absolutely crazy to think we had that forever-winless streak and yet both NJ & Anaheim are only a few points ahead of us???That almost seems impossible. For sure we do not want to go into the lottery (we know how that works out every time)
  17. LIke they'll let us actually get the 1str pick again??? Does anybody see that happening? Either way they'll get someone with good potential
  18. I recall Sam being pretty cool even back when he was winning the championship with Team Canada. Guess that is why he made a captain...doesn't get too high or low.
  19. I do wonder if we'd be ahead of Columbus in the standings if we'd not had that bloody COVID 19 attack and whether we'd had DG coaching from the start of the year and if we'd had a healthy Jack al season...
  20. Boy are you ever right on...Quebec is dying for a team and so are other regions both here in Canada and in the US. The Pegulas could get a big payday if they sold to interest who would immediately move the team. Be careful what you wish for as sometimes it comes true....new owners would almost certainly mean new city
  21. I do think that there is potential here and obviously coach Granato has a ton of things to address with the team after taking over as they were a complete 100% mess. having said that faceoffs are something they can work at but we can all agree we can see a huge difference already and this is for sure a work in progress and will take time. Boston has very good centers and are playing real well right now so this is a big test but losing 0-2 and being in the game and giving the Bruins all they could handle I think was pretty darn good. Tired of negative...we have had that too long! Let's look at the positive side...team is young and obviously with good coaching these young guys have improved and will continue to do so including working on faceoffs...
