Frolic sitting...that sure was a bad trade...to think Montreal got so much more for Scandella. Should be interesting night though facing RL and with Kahun making his debut. anyone know if he is playing center?

did we not have a all-around great 2nd center at some point recently? anyways I simply cannot agree that a guy making that kind of money should be wasting away on the 2nd line. This contract is going to haunt us for many years to come. NYR get Kreider who is a far better all-around player for far less then JBotto gave Skinner. Of course if JBotto had let Skinner walk we would have been angry then too.

hate to say but we seem to be better by subtraction...move out Bogo and the "D" gets better...I also think the minor moves JBotto made at the deadline will help too. Unfortuntaley it is too little too late...we will never catch the Leafs as much as I would love to...

kinda wished we would had signed him so he could retire a Sabre just as I hope we bring back RYan Miller and Pommer's so they can retire Sabres. such great players and people

I think we all agree it was never a talent thing with Tyler...more a health thing. Those pesky concussions...he seems to be on the road to complete recovery and enjoying hockey again (of course one good hit and it all starts again but hopefully he'll stay healthy...he deserves it)

while I am still not convinced JBotto will a real bonifide 2nd center I wonder if we go another way and improve goaltending by say going after a experienced proven goalie such as Quick in LA or even Fleury now that Vegas traded for Lehner for some unknown reason. Last time we were any good we had a #1 in RM...

agreed...with Trocheck off the market does not leave much...

sure got to give credit to Carolina for getting some great additions for not much of anything...oh and is the zamboni driver now their regular goalie? The one thing I did not see them adding was a goalie!

It seems to me that the exact player this team needs and should never have had passed up was Vincent Trocheck. At the end of the day, Trocheck went to Carolina for what is being described as a rental player (Erik Haula UFA) a at best 3 liner in Lucas Wallmark and two prospects that are both termed "secondary" in Eetu Luostarinen and Chase Priskie. Trocheck is a perfect-fit 2nd line center who is actually signed for another 2 years! At 26, he was without a doubt exactly what this team needs. I cannot see where adding more overpaid 3rd and 4th liners is "progress" when we missed out on the big fish who we totally failed to catch. Kudos to Carolina for adding this guy for what amounts to not much of anything.

find it kind of funny how desperate the Leafs are these days to basically put out both goalies on purpose only to lose to the zamboni driver! Funny no one really did anything in revenge against Clifford after he ran over their goalie and makes me wonder back when Lucic ran Miller everyone made a big deal of the fact that no one went after Lucic. Hell Leafs put out both the Canes' goalies and they did nothing! The NHL allows guys to run goalies like that is pretty sad...

yes it is this Kase guy who has a whole 23 point sin 49 games for a 1st rounder, forward David Backes, and defenceman Axel Andersson. Am I missing something here? seems like a whole lot for a 24 year old guy with 23 points. Of course Scandella got a 2nd rounder and a 4th so whatever...

It is strange that they keep playing Sam with jack and that only boast Sam's numbers come contract time this summer when Skinner could do everything and more Sam is doing now and putting Sam on the 2nd line you'd get a far better understanding of just what he is worth. Skinner is making a boat-load of cash an dshould be on the #1 line making first line money. All they hav edone this year is inflate Sam's numbers for a big raise that I am not to sure he deserves...

I do think this team is a really good 2nd lien center and a NHL goalie from being a playoff team. As for jumping on an doff the bandwagon; Toronto and Montreal fans do the exact same thing. This is not a new or shocking phenomenon...sports fans have been doing likewise for a very long time.

that's funny...remember the good old "smurfs" the Sabres were referred to years ago? Danny Briere I am sure would still be a improvement on over 3/4's of our current roster

Yes this team with OReilly and Kane and Lehner would actually be better...and there is no saying we could not have added Skinner as well so that he would be playing with OReilly and Kane which would be a really good line.

Crazy how Pittsburg loses Malkin for long stretch then Cyndy goes out just when Malkin returns and the team just keeps on winning... Now they look poised for yet another Cup run...too bad JBotto could not had brought some of Pittsburg's tradition and winning culture with him. They keep on winning and we keep on losing
