  1. Irrelevant to what Steve Ott thinks The fans pay for the tickets and merchandise, thereby, paying his salary You don't like the boo'ing, tell your team mates to get off their collective ass and play the game they are getting paid (by the fans) to play meh, nothing to see here in these comments from Ott, he knows what it will take to stop the boo'ing, they all do
  2. you know, I wonder if Washington and Buffalo were talking a deal, Miller + for Ovechkin in order to give Girg's a russian LW'er to play with. Just random thoughts is all.
  3. It's really not laughable. Getting to the playoffs is not the goal, winning the Cup is. Four or Five players weren't going to change the outcome on that. Dumping these players now while they still have value was the correct action to take. A rebuild has been needed, for 5 years now. The group of players that made up the Sabres since D/B left weren't even close to sniffing contention, that was all smoke and mirrors on a wing and a prayer. My only concern is Regier is still at the helm, and we are rebuilding, retooling, call it what you will. That is somewhat disconcerting.
  4. Yea, you didn't catch my "He has a boatload of ammunition to get it done" comment. I'm full aware that Vanek alone doesn't get it done, but I stress again, with the ammunition he has, he can.
  5. I believe Vanek get's moved for the 1st or 2nd overall pick in this draft. I firmly believe that Regier is going after both MacKinnon and Drouin this draft. If that means moving Vanek, then so be it. At least, I'm praying that's what he does, afterall, he has a boatload of ammunition to get it done and retain some depth picks as well.
  6. why not bring up Ellis? Could be Leino and Ott out, but where's the D man? Scott? Oh no......but why Luke Adam?
  7. Exactly! Should have taken the four 1sts and ran with it when Edmonton tried to do us that favor. As for Vanek being traded, I would imagine that's more of an off season deal, mayb at the draft, I would think.
  8. not a bad return, not great, considering Jordan wasn't horrible. Bad, at times, but horrible, no. The 2nd rd pick is nice in a deep draft, I'm just glad the sell off has started in earnest.
  9. While this may be true with regards to speaking to other teams about initial offers for Miller, any real conversation including negotiating a deal in conversation would most certainly take place "ONLY AFTER" Regeir is assured that team is not on Miller's list. I'm more inclined to believe Miller did indeed submit a list before the season began, or, at the very least, it has been discussed verbally between Regeir and Miller.
  10. He played primarily on the wing with Briere. Leino's situation in Philly is no different than Kunitz or Deprus situation in Pittsburg, when you have great talent around you, your play is elevated, that's a fact. Leino is way over payed for sure. And for many saying it isn't the coach, in Rolston's case, that is correct. As for Lindy Ruff, it is the case as Ruff had direct input into this roster. The foundation of the teams current issues go back to the summer of 07 and the failure to replace the talent that left that summer. This team does suck, to be sure, and it shows. But, moves are being made, Hodgson being brought in, young 3rd and 4th liners getting their feet wet out of Rochester and up to the big club. The removal of Pominville, Miller, Stafford, Leopold and Regher better net us some nice returns. If Regeir is true to his word, and he's going to try and keep any smaller group of those players listed, he better find a way to bring in a real superstar, a younger one at that.
  11. They are pushing Drew Stafford on the post game as a good game, I wonder if the scouts reportedly there were indeed there scouting Stafford
  12. Well, that's it, TRADE GERBE while his value is high......
  13. Stick around for the next 13 years, it get's easier as the time passes ;)
  14. Surprised to hear Stafford is going back into the line up. Regier moving any player may not happen until dead line day. Just speculation on my part, but others in here have mentioned he may be trying to maximize the return, who knows though. I did find his comment about keeping the core intact disheartening though, it appears as though we could be stuck in this mode for 5 more years of Regier, and that is just depressing to me.
  15. very interesting indeed, Just read this..... Daren Millard ‏@darenmillard 3m Buffalo is asking about Tampa Bay. Ryan Miller is in play. More to come. #sportsnet #TradeTracker Anyone know anything about Tampa outside of Connolly that we could want from Tampa, if it is indeed Miller.
  16. Ruff to Tampa? Well, there goes Stamkos' offensive production
  17. Absolutely! Boyes had 2 really mediocre seasons with the Blues that weren't really injury maligned. But overall, if given the right talent, he can thrive as a 60 point player for 3 or 4 more years. I don't see why not. Buffalo lacked the talent, still does.
  18. If it's not Bobby Ryan, I'm not interested. And we already have a scoring winger, he just hasn't jumped the pond yet, but he'll be here. I likey the ideay! Elimination by ........ elimination, sounds like a win/win for the team :) Bobby Ryan is absolutely who I'd be interested in, doubt he's available though, but hey, yea just never know. I don't believe he's tradable for NHL worthy talent, I'd just send him to Rochester and let him Capt. the team down there. After all, the young developing Sabres need a real Rudy type story to teach them heart and grit "BEFORE" they get to the big club. Honestly, I believe Gerbe's best role is with the Amerks as that type of character guy.
  19. Loved this game, nothing like an entertaining hockey game to fill the evening. Kadri is going to be a beast as he matures. Toronto slowly coming out of the cellar, looking good. Ott is our new Drury? Could it be? Cause it sure looks like it. The new Capt. Clutch with heart on his sleeve and all. He's like the GI Joe action figure you always wanted.
  20. Excuse me, I'm not over my childhood hero's, The French Connection, nor am I over Molginy/Lafontaine, nor Hasek. I believe they are all fair comparison in the context of franchise history. And NO, Buffalo does not need to get the ##### over Hasek, or any other great player from this franchise's past, nor should they. They define what the Sabres not only were, but what we fans look for them to be again.
  21. , Actually weave, this is a solid point, but when you look at the disparity in the league back in the 90's on scoring, although over half the league at the time had scoring down, there were teams who consistently out performed in scoring over all. The Trap was a big issue to be sure, but there were teams who just had the talent to overcome it. Hasek did well against all competition, which to me, in any event, speaks on generational talent. Miller on the other hand, does indeed have to contend in a different environment, but that makes his impact on the team no more or less relevant when taken into context of his contract and performance under said contract indicators. He's not worth 6.5 mil a season cap hit wise given the rule changes to end the Trap Era. But I still believe him to be an above average netminder none-the-less. As was pointed out, some of that money could have gone to improvements elsewhere on the roster with the same or potentially higher results then we've received to date. Of course, in the interest of full disclosure, it could have potentially had lower results, in which case, we'd have drafted higher quality talent over those years :P
  22. I don't need charts on his career performance, I've watched it over the past 7 years. Is he average? No Is he a game changer? More often than not, No Does this thread really make a difference in the larger goal of bringing a Stanley Cup Championship to Buffalo? Ummmm.......No Miller is an above average netminder, but not significantly above average whereby he cannot be considered expendable in an effort to bring a Cup to Buffalo. His salary is a hinderence, however, to that end when taken in context to his overall career performance under that contract, IMHO. Afterall, it's nice and all that he received "personal recognition" in 1 season for his ability to elevate his game play at his position, but it did nothing to bring a Championship to Buffalo that year. And over all, his performance has done nothing to contribute on a major scale to such end as well.
  23. Let's visit this subject then, shall we? Drury, clutch scorer, didn't leave via trade Briere, consistent scorer, didn't leave via trade Outside of them 2, and the Roy for Ott deal, who is it specifically that you are claiming was a scorer that was shipped out via trade for Grit?
  24. Pegula will be all over this, he has a French last name..... Could this be Pegula's modern day link with a "French Connection"
