  1. I find a certain sense of irony when fragile fans call out players as fragile. What I see, more than anything right now, are players who are not all on the same page. 10 new faces in the lineup and a change in coach and system. It will take time and all of the factors don't occur in a vacuum in that they can be examined independently. Last night I saw two players going to the same place at the same time on the forecheck. That's not good. It's fine if you are 2-1-2 forecheck and the second guy is there to get the loose puck but last night it was two guys going to cause the puck to be broken free. In the defensive zone the ability to cycle with the offense and allow coverage of a player to move from one player to another takes time. It's like building an offensive line in football. If one guy isn't sure where or what he should be doing the entire line starts to look real bad. The Sabres are in the same boat right now. You take that frustration and realize it begins to impact the rest of their games because they are all very knowledgeable about hockey and they all have pride in how they play. They don't want to lose (despite people on here thinking that way). It's going to get in your head. Professional or not, it happens to everyone. There was improvement last night. Just not enough. There may be a long way to go.... but that's the way it goes.
  2. Agreed. Ave he played the 2 on 1 like a champ. That was some solid PK work.
  3. I love the He-man commercial as much as I hate that DQ commercial.
  4. Good Lord. Those 2 together.
  5. That's how Jack needs to play, every shift.
  6. That play from Jack is why he's worth believing in. If he can get that lazy crap out of his game... Oh if he can.
  7. I feel like lost is a better fit. But it's real, very real.
  8. RJ just sent a message to the team. Look you lazy bastages. I'm old and beat cancer. I'm stepping it up to provide joy to Sabres fans. Your move boys.
  9. Vodka, lime, and Sabres. I can take anything.
  10. Wow.. I don't know that I've ever popped into this thread before.. believe it. I sure hadn't posted before. So, if any of you want to hire me out to be confrontational for you I'll give you a discount on my posted rates. Hell, if it's good enough I might even go pro bono. For Josie's alt-right vegan yoga instructor... the work I could do. That one might be a freebie.
  11. I hope so. Blowing it up would be perfect.
  12. Took me a few minutes and re-reads... I couldn't quite get why being in Connecticut was some kind of benefit over the rest of the East Coast... :) However.. yes.. 9:30 start time makes it more palatable.
  13. There is no 2nd and 3rd line... they are synonymous at the moment. There is the top line.. the one with Eichel and Kane and then there's the next 6 and the bottom 3.
  14. Dudacek... are you kidding me? I have no words.. you used all of them. Bravo sir.
  15. I'll be awake for the start of the game... their level of play will determine how long I try to stay awake.
  16. They already have disaster. Could it get worse? Possibly. But it's hard to say so far that it's not already a disaster.
  17. Not even remotely the same thing. Onto a more intelligent discussion. If you don't like what the Sabres are doing, then fine, you don't. If you don't like the team, then fine you don't. Everyone is at different levels of tolerances and some people just won't ever get that upset over the Sabres product on the ice because for them it's a form of entertainment even if its not entertaining at some times. What has happened lately on this forum is that people who are upset seem to want to call out those are not and make them lesser people. You are comparing them to domestic abuse victims which is an absolutely disgusting comparison. Others are yelling at them wasting their money, their time, etc. Seriously, why do people feel the need to spread their misery? Perhaps we need a thread called "Eternal Sabres Hell: A Thread for Miserable Fans and Trolls".
  18. I'm okay with these changes. It's still a feeling out process and I think it's methodical. Moving Reinhart to W allows for some flexibility. I would think that if Okposo can't find some O soon then you might see Reinhart bump up there or even to the top line and then watch Pominville move to ROR's line, etc. Having Reinhart at C required you to then move ROR and a winger to make things work. The D? Gorges has to play now. Gorges is not as BAD as what we've seen. Antipin being out is interesting to me. I'd bet Beaulieu/Tennyson see about 10 minutes of ice time... max. Scandella/Risto - 30 minutes and the McCabe/Gorge - 20 minutes...
  19. Sounds good. Just ordered my first ever sweater with a nameplate, thanks for the idea. Your misery is your own despite your efforts to spread it.
  20. From bumbling last place team to a bumbling last place team? Sounds like maintaining status quo at worst.. How much chance does the team have of improving if ROR and Jack play to their salaries? Is it greater than 50%? How much more can they improve? If it's less than 50% or they can't become a playoff team then they won't be tradeable so you should probably nestle yourself in for a long winter's nap.. say October to March each year for the next 6. If it's greater than 50% and you believe they can become a playoff team then Murray really didn't screw up the team... did he? I don't know.. you sound like you need a break for your own sanity.
  21. You want me to stretch it like Mama Cass in yoga pants? Then you should resign as a moderator here to preserve your sanity. :)
  22. Look... we can't really criticize the staff for trying the reverse of that this forum did to Cy Hdgsn can we?
  23. This is just so well put. He's going to have to learn it. He's had success everywhere because of his skill, not because of his perseverance. There's another level he has to get to and someone needs to get him to believe it.
  24. The PP coach isn't the issue. The Sabres are setting up the same PP they did last year. The problem is their execution of it. There is an issue and I am hoping that it's guys trying to get on the same page. Every number will look more exaggerated in a negative way if players are continually out of position. It's like playing short handed or worse. They have a few days to focus and to do so while on the road. No going home and being away from the teammates. Housley's system is different and while each player may be individually talented they are not cohesive yet. If it doesn't show signs of improvement, that's a problem. But I'm not expecting a huge improvement in the next few weeks... I would like it, I just don't expect it.
  25. Well Jack uses a long stick so....
