  1. Ian Cole is that cap related element.
  2. That's a tidbit of advice it would seem many should follow at this point.
  3. If you talk with your tongue in your cheek don't you bite your tongue?
  4. So it would seem that as the team embraced and played the Housley style they began to drive more possession. The players who did not improve are in the group we all know have to get booted as they bring no secondary scoring or other benefits to the team. The question isn't are they bad.. the question is.. are the parts that need to stick around improving and overall is the team improving... if that's the case then we have progress. I don't worry if Nolan and Larsson are killing the team today. I only care if they are still here next year. What about the defense? Has it improved? (BTW: If you tell me what I should be looking at.. I will.)
  5. If you have a really cool seller on your contingency offer then it can be much better. When we moved into my current house the seller had chosen us over 4 other offers because we had kids. He really wanted our family to be in his house even though we were a contingency sale. When my house didn't sell in the first 30 days (absolutely against the trend at the time) he reached out an extended our contingency without us having to ask. That was awesome. Our house sold in 35 days and everything went smooth. My buyers were complete jerks but I did what was asked and then they immediately let the house go to hell. So be it. It all worked out. MOVING... now that sucks. If you ever wanted the incentive to NOT be a hoarder.. just move. It blows... especially as you get to the deadline. I recall just throwing crap into the PODS I had to move remaining items that were not going in the moving truck. Holy crap.... Congratulations on everything getting done. Hope the rest of the ride is smooth.
  6. Desperation levels change as opponents sign assets. I think the Devils signing Grabner puts pressure on the Islanders to get a goalie and shore up their goals against issue or kiss the playoffs good bye. If the Isles make a move then Columbus feels the pressure. Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Caps are all close and 4-5 points ahead of New Jersey... but is it enough? That's just the Eastern Conference.
  7. I've nowhere to find the stats.. but I'd be real curious to see what the possession stats for the Sabres look like over the course of the season. If there's been an improvement. It seems like there has been one for the most part even though there are still stretches of time where they don't have the puck.
  8. I think the pull for Kane goes up after that trade. The Devils settled for what they were willing to pay. The remaining teams no longer have a shot at Grabner and that reduced amount of assets to give up. The next team now has to pony for Kane or Nash or no one.... collars are getting tight.
  9. You guys need some Pepto... you can't crap on everything all the time. They won. Could it be prettier? Sure, but so could you. ;)
  10. It’s a W. That was ugly. Everyone of those Volvo commercials are the dumbest things I’ve seen in a long while.
  11. Hungary just won its first ever Winter Olympics gold medal. Short track relay speed skating... pretty cool.
  12. Talk about an incredibly biased viewpoint. Kane has earned a contract... he wants to be the one who decides on where he will play next year. What evidence is there that Kane ever wanted to stay here? Has he even said the standard UFA quote? You know “of course I want to be here, we have to see what works out.”
  13. I’d recommend you stop looking at this team from the passenger side mirror. :) This team is closer than people on here believe. We’ll see how much closer after this trade deadline.
  14. This was why Arizona got Kuemper. That sealed it. It would be interesting for Calgary to get another goalie from Arizona.
  15. Now he’s worth a first?
  16. But how will you beat scissors?
  17. On the bright side.. the Sabres have the players capable of running things. They just need the high-quality supporting parts now. The goaltender is in Rochester already.
  18. You have really lowered your standards if you are dismayed that the organization doesn't have Vanek-Roy-Pominville-Miller-Gaustad 2.0 in Rochester. I mean, it's not like this board didn't want that core group jettisoned.
  19. I don't believe Borgen ever played for the Olympic team... that tells me they preferred to have Wisniewski in the lineup as a pure power play specialist over this kid. I'm not too concerned at this point.
  20. I'll watch once i get home from hockey. Or I won't watch... it really depends on how the game starts out and where its at when I turn it on.
  21. Oh man... that's classic.
  22. Hah... that's just too perfect. :)
  23. Well.. it helps when it's the first ever gold... :) Bode Miller commentates like a skier. The dude is just so deadpan about everything. He sounds like a guy who is used to rocketing down a hill at 70-80mph on a sheet of ice. I wonder if his heart rate can get above 50. :) He's extremely insightful though. I've barely watched the Olympics this year mostly because NBC blows and it's always figure skating, either showing it or talking about it. The past few nights I stayed up to watch some things but last night I was too tired and I have some kind of cold coming on so I went to bed early. I really wanted to watch USA v. Canada... but given how i feel this morning it's best that I did not. I hate shootouts to win a tournament game/playoff game and especially in a medal game. That said... way to go ladies.. Team USA gets the win and that's awesome.
  24. The (MY) assertion was that it took time for them to get it. They may not be executing it 100% but they didn't even understand it early in the season. They were still playing the Bylsma way or so it appeared. Then they tried to pull a defender into creating a 4 man rush but because they had no clue what they were doing they kept turning the puck over leading to odd-man rushes the other way. We now see them hitting that 4th defender much more often and it leading to zone entry. This happens less and less these days. They can still execute the system and fail on the ice. After all it's one thing to be in position and another thing to not have the ability to put the puck in the net, or keep the puck on your stick, or execute the pass that's required. There are two parts to this... understanding what to do and being able to do it. I would only state they understand what to do and that there is some talent needed to be able to execute it all the time.
  25. And extend Kuemper for 2 year, $3.7M contract.
