  1. The cup was handed out last week, the draft is over and the UFA courting period starts today at noon. Now can I start this? We need to switch to the new season because I am way over what happened last year. Lets go!

Phoenix and Glendale agree to lease agreement http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=426847

Looks like it will be for 15yrs and 225million bucks. Good now does Phoenix finally have an owner then?

Dupuis just got resigned as well, 4yr deal worth 15mil

    http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=426835

  2. Schopp just got pwned by Hamilton about the whole Darcy/Larry Quinn/Danny Briere situation. Schopp was defiant to a caller earlier about Darcy screwing up the Breire situation then a half hour later Phams inadvertently sticks it in Schopps face. Elation!

BTW, Schopp's main talking point today has been about next years free agent class and how awesome it's goin to be. All the while ignoring the fact that 90% of those guys will re-sign with their current team or whatever team they are traded to at the deadline.

RIGHT!!! OMG I just wanted to yell that at him.

  3. Who said it was? I said it wasn't good. Does anyone actually dispute that? Or is the game just to point out that it could have been even worse?

The game is to point out that Mikhail Grigorenko having difficulty adjusting to the game at the NHL level as an 18yr old is not as alarming as you are trying to make it sound. You are basically making it sound as though he is a bust. Give the kid a chance.

  4. How do you know what the problem with his game had to do with?

Per Paul Hamilton and Jeremy White, the Sabres weren't thrilled with his attitude last year and moved his locker so that he was next to Ott, hoping the Ott would influence him in a positive way.

Also, I'm not sure what the difference is between "head case" and "full fledged head case" but the fact that you're even trying to draw a distinction is a bad sign. He dropped to us in the draft because other teams didn't like his attitude. It turned out his attitude the Sabres didn't love last year either. That's not good.

he's 19, most 19yr old kids don't have the right attitude to play in the NHL. If I look at last years draft class I think 3 guys played in the NHL from that draft class other than Grigs. 25 games of crap play and not understanding what it takes is not the same as someone like drew stafford mailing it in year after year after year.

  5. Maybe it is in his thread, but I haven't clicked there yet. What is his pedigree? I haven't seen anything on that yet.

Basically Hurley played in both Minnesota HS and USHL programs this past season. He is the youngest draft eligible player. His HS team won states and he is committed to ND but may defer that for a year to play a full year in the USHL.

  6. Get the level where they pick a top line center. Don't have one yet unless Grig does a miracolous turn around on the effort side of things. Everything we were concerned about and why he dropped to us last year is showing up. Boy needs to get some gitty up in his hustle... Till then, I will continue to gripe that the Sabres have missed their target again.

Once again show me. Still a concept. Yes he has skills, but the compete is not there. I don't see what you are seeing.

Grigorneko didn't fail last year because of his compete. He failed because of his lack of minutes, his immaturity in age, his adjustment to the NHL speed, and with that speed change, and the reason I beleive his effort is questioned, he was not conditioned well enough to make up for that. Simply put he was an 18yr old who probably needed another year in Junior first. He has to work on reading the game and being conditioned enough to utilize his improved skating. I think he has a very good chance of being 2x as effective this year. He should be our #2 C and have some solid guys on his wings. If on July 1, 2014 the same issues are being tossed around, then I will get concerned but as of right now, I am not worried about a kid who was getting a whopping 7-8mins of ice time a night.

  7. I'm not worried about them not taking a center, but they could really use some winger prospects with top 6 potential. Nichuskin could've been a nice addition to play on Grigorenko's wing, but meh. Darcy prioritized defense and who am I to disagree with scouts who travel the world to watch these guys play?

Does anyone know anything about next year's draft class? The fact that everyone is talking about Connor McDavid two years from now makes me question how many "franchise players" will be drafted next year, but there's a good chance we'll have a high pick so it would be nice if there are 5-10 A-level forward prospects!

Sam Reinhardt is the #1 at the moment but the other guys have some promise. Really hard to tell this far out. Anton Karlsson is billed as a big aggressive RW who loves to make people "remember him"

  8. Another year, another year without drafting a top end center. Not sure the Sabres could have gotten one give their position, but there goes another year without one. oh well.... Not saying what they drafted was bad, I like the top two defensemen, Still another year without a top centerman... sigh.... They just had to go on that late season run :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

I will be writing a long post on this later but Darcy thinks Grigs is that guy. I have do doubt in my mind about that now.

  9. McBain is a defenseman. We traded Sekera for this guy and McBain

He's talking about passing on Fucale and instead taking Compher?

We traded Sekera for Compher, McBain is toss in that in the end doesn't have to work out but can hold a place for a couple years. As for the Fucale thing... I like Compher so I am fine having him over Fucale

  10. This guy best become something because it cost us a future all-star goalie. We must think this guy is pretty sensational. The good news is now 1/3 of our defence have a history of turning up to the start of the season out of shape.

Myers now has a friend to go to dunkin' donuts with

It cost us an all star goalie? and Compher is a forward I have no idea what the rest of our point even means.

  11. Even looks like a young Pronger

I don't know why everyone is down on Rasmus Ristolainen. With Monahan and Lindholm gone it was an almost no brainer. The russian factor is huge on Nichuskin

Wow you want to talk about reaching. Philly and Morin

Rasmus likes to play like pronger so that is a plus for us but yes, Philly reached.

Target now is Alexander Wennberg to me. This kid can play.

  12. Well there it is, Nichushkin is available at #8. The Russian Factor again. I still worry about his compete and overall conditioning. We shall see. I am drinking some Sierra Nevada Summerfest... more like chugging it at this point.

  13. Oilers should take Nurse if they are smart but they may take Nichushkin. If they do, I am all for Horvat at #8... you heard me say it.

Uhg I guess I will hang out until we pick. I am sure we get a good player I should be happy.
