  1. Nice! Oh, and I thought of another one: my new car is actually getting even better fuel economy than advertised! I'd expected it to be close to my previous car since that averaged 30 mpg and this was rated 28/33, but I averaged 33 mpg for the first tank of gas and am at 36 mpg now halfway through the second. Suh-weet.

    What did you buy?

  2. If they do wind up outside of the playoffs, they should include NJ in the lottery anyway. I'd love to see the extra little sting set in when their ball is picked and they realize they just lost the first overall pick.

They would have to wouldn't they? To keep the % the same for each pick. I'd guess if NJD ball comes up they keep the order the same?

  3. Long story short, they paid him more in real cash than they did in cap dollars. That balance must be restored, spread over the timeframe of the original contract.

And after all of this, I'm brought back to the original question from last offseason of why they didn't choose to forfeit that 29th overall draft pick. Now they're very likely to be losing a lottery pick. Then again, some of the talking heads idiotically think the league may now cancel out that punishment. I actually wouldn't put it past them now that they've let a guy "retire" so he could go and play in another league.

Yea I think it would be terrible if they let them have a pick back now. It would be like charging a guy with a felony because he puts a guy in the hospital but the guy makes a full recovery so you just drop the charges.

  4. A friend of mine once dated a girl who lived in Florida. He couldn't stand it...going from your air-conditioned house to your air-conditioned car to your air-conditioned office, then do it all in reverse at the end of the day. He's very big into outdoor stuff (hiking, biking, etc), so there's no way he would've survived FL. He lives in Colorado now...and married to a different girl. I've never experienced the southern climate, but my brother - who lives in Texas - said he misses NY and the change of seasons. I imagine that I would, too.

Thats what I miss most. I am dating a Florida girl myself and she wears sweaters when it gets down to 70's... wait til I bring her to Buffalo in the middle of winter

  5. I think the false point for the shootout winner is even worse. It is the real part that was changed from pre-2005 lockout and is what really inflates the standings. Teams build their positioning on that dog and pony show that has zero influence on playoff hockey, other than the rare penalty shot.

I think it should be 2pts for a win in Reg/OT and 1 point for shootout win. Penalize teams for going to shootout instead of rewarding that crap. Also Losers NEVER GET A POINT.

  6. OMG!!! So I got pestered today at meeting to send out an email so people will sign up for this thing that has been up for a couple weeks now. So I do... BUT the form that people need to use doesn't even work!!!!! Now I have people emailing me asking wtf!?!?!?!? and I have to scramble to get the systems guy to fix the form but he isn't responding to my email!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

  7. Mikhail Grigorenko, I think he will light it up this year. Maybe he won't be what some want but I think we will see a different player come the start of the season. I hope Zadorov makes the team but I think he really needs to go back to the OHL for 1 more season. Hearing how much they get along gives me a good feeling. We forget sometimes that players are people and they need some friends. I think Zadorov will be good for Grigs.

“I’ve been skating a lot with the skating coach,” Grigorenko said. “Just everything, I was running a lot on the treadmill. We did a lot of core stuff for upper body and lower body.”

“I was actually hoping (Zadorov) would be drafted by Buffalo,” Grigorenko said. “When Buffalo didn’t pick him at the eighth spot, I thought somebody else would pick him, so I was really excited for the 16th pick.”

  8. What 4 guys? Myers, McNabb, McCabe, Ruhweedle, Pysyk? Last year salary $15 million for a dozen NHL points?

How about the Sabres top 4 last year?

    Ehrhoff, Myers, Sekera, Weber..... 165 Games....49 Pts.....248 hits.....122 of which were Weber's

McDonaugh, Del Zotto, Girardi, Staal.......160 Games....65 Pts....335 Hits...

The Rangers top 4 are pretty evenly distributed as well. They all come in between .4-.5 pts per game and 2 hits per game give or take. With those 4 you can take up close to 80% of the ice time and not skip a beat. Plus they have Stralman who is an ok defender.

Suffering vs. Playoff runs. That's what we've seen, and that's what I expect to see in the near future.

Actually the future 4 I was thinking are... Myers 23, Ristolainen 18, Zadorov 18 and McCabe 19... I was thinking that if those 4 pan out in 3-4years we could have a solid physical defense that can score points.

  9. 3 of the 4 can shake 'n bake.

I'm excited to see the coach swap next year. I would be willing to wager both teams do at least as well as last. AV fits NY a little better than Torts in VAN, but I would put NY's D in the top 5 of who I would want. A little bit of everything...D..movement...physicality.

So you are all excited for them have 4 guys roughly the same age range but us having the equivalent but 4 yrs behind... how do you feel about that?

O and they are average as far as physicality, not intimidating IMPO
